Celebrating their 17th anniversary since debut, FTISLAND members are opening up with their 7th official album, which includes 10 songs that were all composed and written by members.

Below is Q&A with FTISLAND members about the release of their 7th official album 'Serious.' Q1. This is FTISLAND's first official album in about 8 years since the release of 'Where's the Truth?" in 2016. How do you feel about the release of the 7th official album 'Serious?' Lee Hongki: I'm so excited because it's been a long time. Releasing official albums doesn't seem to be the trend lately but I really wanted to release one. Lee Jaejin: It did feel off to release an official album at the moment but there were way too many types of music that we wanted to try. We prepared this album hoping to expand our set list for live performances and for our fans who buy our albums. Choi Minhwan: I really wanted to share as much music as possible with our fans. I've been waiting for an official album for a long time! I want to thank our fans who have been waiting all this time and I'm so excited for this album! I hope many people look forward to it and enjoy it! Q2. Please tell us about this album's two title songs 'BURN IT' and 'SERIOUS.' When do you recommend we listen to them? Lee Hongki: I think 'BURN IT' goes well with alcohol. I recommend listening to 'SERIOUS' Live at a concert or when at night when you have to make a bold decision. Lee Jaejin: 'BURN IT' stands out for its strong pull coming from a dream-like feeling. 'SERIOUS' comes with weight and will. I think both songs should be enjoyed when you have to be strong. Choi Minhwan: I think 'BURN IT' is a new genre for FTISLAND. Personally, I think it can be enjoyed while driving! I think 'Serious' is great for festivals! I think it's a song that can show off FTISLAND anywhere. Q3. This album stands out because it has two title songs. Why did you decide to pick two? Lee Hongki: I thought it was a fun idea. We asked a lot of people for their thoughts and it was 50/50! Our members also really liked both songs so we decided to have two title songs. Lee Jaejin: Both songs are really sexy and fresh.

Q4. What other songs would you recommend from the official album? Lee Jaein: I recommend 'T.I.V (Tears in Vain). We really worked hard to come up with a new type of melody and rhythm. It represents our effort of trying something new. Choi Minhwan: I recommend 'INFERNO!' I like its grand sound and I'm confident listeners will enjoy it. Q5. There is an anticipation that this album will show off FTISLAND's unique color since all members took part in composing and writing all songs. Were there anything specific areas you put extra focus on? Lee Hongki: We wanted to show us in our 30s. We wanted to share how we feel about our identity as a band and how we are feeling lately via music. Lee Jaejin: We worked with a lot of people on this album from its start to finish. Because it was important to show off our own color, I think we worked the hardest on mixing. Choi Minhwan: We gave our everything for each song but I think this process really spotlighted our friendship. Everyone really behaved like 18-year veterans when listening to each other's thoughts, making adjustments and just the way we treated each other. Q6. Following the release of the album, you'll be meeting with fans through musical, festivals and TV appearances. What kind of reaction are you anticipating? Lee Hongki: I want to hear "It's so different from the FTISLAND we know but it's so cool!" Lee Jaejin: I hope everyone who listens to our songs, listens to them more than once. Since its a rare genre, we want to introduce our music to as many people as possible.

Choi Minhwan: I want to hear "This is a well-produced album," "Very cool." We have a very clear goal. So I hope as many people recognize that! I think as long as stay in our path, our music will reach a lot of people.

Q7. Band music is becoming popular lately. What kind of a band does FTISLAND want to be remembered as? Lee Hongki: A band with a clear color, a band that represents Korea, an absolutely necessary band, a cool band, a fun band. Is that too much? (Laughs) Lee Jaejin: Of course I want to be the most shining band right now but I hope to be remembered as a band that many people admire and look forward to. Q8. He’s fun! He’s happy! And his nickname is “Hong Star!” FTISLAND vocal Lee Hongki is back with unbeatable crew! He and his crew members defy gravity in a movie-like MV! Plus, Lee Hongki’s dance that you couldn’t see anywhere else and a special appearance by Hongstar crew Jung Ilhoon! We unveil Lee Hongki’s ‘COOKIES (Feat. Jung Ilhoon of BTOB) MV shoot.

Across a vast field, we find an old office. There is BTOB’s Jung Ilhoon! He is a member of Hong Star crew who helped with title song ‘COOKIES (Feat. Jung Ilhoon of BTOB).’ (APPLAUSE)

Hong Star crew Jung Ilhoon also appeared in the music video. He acted out a charismatic sheriff of the town that Hongki visited!

Meanwhile. Hongki jumped around on the trampoline to defy gravity. Hongki looks totally comfortable jumping up and down on the trampoline. Can’t you see how relaxed he is?

**Album** LEE HONGKI 2ND MINI ALBUM [DO n DO]

Band FTISLAND’s vocal Lee Hongki released his second solo album in about 3 years. ‘DO n DO’ reflects Lee Hongki’s life, where he takes on challenges without any hesitation whether he is alone or he is with friends. It also captures Lee Hongki’s free music world, where he tries on new things without being bound to anywhere. 

Lee Hongki collaborated on the album with close and skilled musicians, nicknamed ‘Hongstar crew,’ to fill it with colorful sound. 

Title song ‘COOKIES’ is a refreshing future pop composed by Lee Hongki and BTOB’s Jung Ilhoon. It’s a sensible mix of Lee Hongki’s soft vocal and Jung Ilhoon’s tight rapping.

Just as we look forward to a movie’s sequel by watching the post-credit scenes (referred to as ”cookie videos” in Korean), the song also makes us anticipate the next chapter of our life. It’s an honest depiction of how Lee Hongki thinks about his life as he always dreams of a movie-like life and lives it. 

Outside the title song, rapper Cheetah added her rhythmic vocal to pre-released song ‘I AM,’ rapper DINDIN was featured in ‘CAMPFIRE’ and SF9′s Zuho in ‘COME TO ME.’

Measuring up his usual image as a troublemaker, Lee Hongki looked the most natural when making playful faces.  His childish expressions made everyone at the shoot feel happy. 

Just like Hongki’s emotional voice, his expressions also immediately get the OK! As expected of talented Hong star!

This place filled with suspense! This is ‘I AM (With Cheetah)’ MV set! (Everyone clap and shout!!) Working as one, Hongki and Cheetah composed, wrote and sang ‘I AM (With Cheetah’), creating a super energetic and flashy song.

[FTNEWS] FTISLAND Lee Hongki’s New Solo Album Coming October 18th

FTISLAND vocal Lee Hongki is having a solo comeback.

Lee Hongki will release his solo album on October 18th. It will be his first solo album since ‘FM302′ released in 2015. In it, Hongki is expected to showcase new kind of music that he never shared before. On September 16th, Lee Hongki posted a hint about his new album on SNS with a spoiler video. In a minute-long video, Lee Hongki introduced his new album as “trendy songs, taking on a new challenge, warm or delightful.” Lee Hongki also teased at dynamic featurings by saying, “my friends helped me alot.” He said he even wrote one song to collaborate with one specific friend from the start. About his title song, he heightened the expectation level with “a friend who is really hot lately helped me.”  Look forward to some dancing. [FT NEWS] Finally Shining, Lee Hongki’s True Quality

“There was a time I wanted to break the rules. I called the company to ask if I could go out. I was stupid. I could’ve just sneaked out. I ended up arguing with the company on the phone for 3 hours and fell asleep.” This is an episode Lee Hongki shared 2 years ago when FTISLAND released their 6th official album ‘Where’s The Truth?’ It was his answer to a joke that Hongki looks like a troublemaker but hasn’t caused any trouble. Lee Hongki’s confession made everyone at the interview burst into laughter. At the same time, his story also took away some of the fixed ideas about Lee Hongki. 

Lee Hongki has a strong image of a ‘rebel.’ When you search Lee Hongki and agency ‘FNC Entertainment’ on a video site, you’ll find the word ‘diss’ in related search results. But the fact that he thought to ask the company for permission to go out...I realized Hongki was a more proper and innocent young man than I thought he was.  The interview was a refreshing experience for me. During the interview, Lee Hongki opened up everything about himself; how it took FTISLAND 8 years to change their color because they started out with popular music and the criticisms he faced for being in an ‘idol band.’ I also felt his certainty on FTISLAND’s future direction and his confidence in their music. Up until that point, I only knew Lee Hongki as ‘flower band vocal’ and  ‘acting and variety show idol.’ I was surprised and glad to meet the sides of Lee Hongki that I didn’t know. 

That feeling recently came back to me through Mnet ‘Produce 48′ and tvN ‘Road to Ithaca.’ In each program, Lee Hongki revealed aspects of a ‘musician’ as a vocal trainer and the youngest rocker.  In ‘Produce 48,’ Lee Hongki became more than a vocal trainer to idol trainees. He analyzed specialties and habits of countless trainees to give each trainee an individualized lesson. He also didn’t settle with teaching just techniques. Hongki touched on the mindset of an idol. Many of ‘Produce 48′ viewers and idol fans agreed with this remark: “The center isn’t someone with a pretty face and how she looks with the mission song. The center shouldn’t be a trainee who stands out in the team but a trainee who can tell the audience ‘look at us.’“ Lee Hongki was able to give this jab and device because he was an idol for more than 10 years. 

While Lee Hongki boasts more than enough experience to be a mentor on a survival program, he is still afraid of how others judge him. He opened up about his far on ‘Road to Ithaca.’  In a recent episode, Lee Hongki worried if YB’s Yoo Dohyun and Guckkasten’s Ha Hyunwoo will acknowledge him as a rocker. It’s because of his strong ‘idol band’ image. This didn’t matter. Yoon Dohyun and Ha Hyunwoo were blown away by Lee Hongki’s vocal skills. When Lee Hongki sang Guckkasten’s ‘Red Field’ with his own style, original singer Ha Hyunwoo was shocked. After Lee Hongki finished singing, Ha Hyunwoo couldn’t stop complimenting him for a while: “You sing this song really well. How can you sing it so well?” “I kept backing up because I was so surprised,” “I think ‘Red Field’ suits you better than me.”  In an interview with staff, Ha Hyunwoo said, “I had to think ‘was Hongki always this good at singing?’” This was Ha Hyunwoo admitting that he had a fixed idea about Lee Hongki.  But he gave a thumb up by saying, “this was my first time ever seeing someone else sing my song better than I do.” Yoon Dohyun also said he was surprised.  Like Ha Hyunwoo and Yoon Dohyun, ‘Road to Ithaca’ viewers were also surprised by Lee Hongki’s vocal skills. FTISLAND became popular with their 2007 debut song ‘Love Sick.’ But the mass public didn’t view FTISLAND as artists. Rock bands openly looked down on FTISLAND. They couldn’t accept that an idol group planned and produced by an entertainment agency would work as a band that makes its own music and performs instruments. Lee Hongki’s vocal skill was under-evaluated for the same reason.  Above all, Lee Hongki should be praised for not stopping despite such prejudice. Lee Hongki sang, acted and appeared on variety shows to promote FTISLAND. He fulfilled his responsibility until ‘the time comes for me to do what I do best.’ At the end of the time of silently making his mark is today’s Lee Hongki. As senior to idols, he's an example for trainees. As a band member, he is acknowledged by musicians YB and Guckkasten. Lee Hongki's true quality is shining.  *** Source: Herald + DJ. [FT TRANS] Melon Magazine -  ‘WHAT IF’ Jacket Shoot

Where is this place full of bright lightbulbs and neon signs? It’s where FTISLAND hangs out away from the heat and a set for FTISLAND’s 6th mini album ‘WHAT IF’ album jacket. 

It’s been a while since we last saw all 5 of them together. But the members seem relaxed and comfortable like they are family. We caught Jaejin playing with Jonghun’s hair during the shoot~ Shall we check out how each member enjoys a summer night at FTISLAND’s hangout place?

Jonghun mindlessly waits for the shoot to begin. Once shutters come on, he leans against the wall and eyes the camera like a professional. His low gaze makes him look like he is really missing the girl he met in a ‘Summer Night’s Dream.’  

Hongki waits while fooling around with cameras. He then suddenly picks up a pair of yellow tinted sunglasses. And when the shoot begins, his eyes and gesture become serious! He shows off total opposite charms like Baron Ashura from ‘Mazinger Z~’ It must be a 12-year veteran idol’s dignity to look his best in front of a camera.

Next up is Jaejin, who looks more natural than other members! He really pulled off a cute and free image with a comfortable robe fashion and messy hair. If he waits with those eyes of Puss in Boots, wouldn’t the girl who silently left him in his dream come back immediately? 

Seunghyun made our busy camera stop during a group shoot. When he smiles, he looks like a cute baby. But when he makes a serious face, he looks so manly~ While we were disappointed that we couldn’t see him smile, we fortunately caught him smiling while monitoring his own picture!

Sleeping beauty Minhwan..? He looks so handsome even with his eyes closed. Did he fall asleep to meet the girl in his dream? But your highness...you shouldn’t sleep here!!

So what’s up with these brick walls? What happened to the comfortable hangout spot? Where is this place that looks and feels hot with golden skies and green leaves? We moved out here to capture the jacket concept more freely!

All 5 members began with outfits that might get featured in a street fashion magazine. It may look like they are just standing. But you do know that’s the most difficult pose, don’t you? The five men look relaxed and cool at the same time! We are excited for this outdoor shoot. 

The summer-like prints and patterns on their clothes make us want to get away! With the sun starting to set in the background, this really feels like we are going towards a summer night. But we had to shoot very fast to capture this sunset. The members’ professional posture and expressions allowed us to capture the perfect background. 

The moment I first saw you~ The moment that shined~ My heart skips a beat just imagining Jonghun~ Jonghun’s attractive gaze that makes me want to take a walk with him on a summer night! He makes me dream of taking a walk with him on a beach while listening to ‘Summer Night’s Dream.’ 

Check out Jaejin sporting a sky blue Hawaiian shirt. He looks like he is thinking of someone. Hiding behind the wall, he looks like he is wondering “could I get close? Could I love you?” 

When the sun was almost down, a summer night’s party began!  With a sparkler in both hands, members started the last shoot. They said they’ve rarely got to play with fireworks and were very amused. Pretty sparks blended well with the pink sky to make a prettier picture!

FTISLAND members are excited over sparklers like kids! Maybe it’s because they got to play this time. They looked more excited than ever.
