with that, dominica plops down beside him leaning over to catch a glimpse at the book that captured his focus, " what are you reading about so intently anyway ? " she wonders aloud. " is it another book about mermaids ? or the same one for the thirtieth time ? "

Eric stuck his tongue out at his sister, barely breaking his concentration from what he was reading to do so. He loved his sister, and the teasing was all in good fun anyway, plus he could give as good as he got.

"Don't you have anything better to do than bother me, Dominica?"

gliding into the dining room, dominica sets her sights on her place setting at the grand table with a plate piled high with her favorite breakfast fare. a perfect cube of melon is moments away from her lips when the queen poses her question. “ well—- good morning to you too, mother. ”

popping the fruit into her mouth, dominicia takes the few moments it takes to chew and swallow to formulate her answer, “ i think she’s very beautiful and i love her hair. ” the princess leans over the back of one of the dining room chairs to pluck another piece of fruit from her plate, “ but, does it really matter what i think of her ? ”

with elbows perched on the high back of the dining room chair, she’ll rest her cheeks in both palms before looking over at her mother with a quirked brow and a smirk, “ eric seems to like her. ” she shrugged, “ i heard he might might even be ready to call off the search for his mystery girl. but i think our very loyal prime minister might know more about that than i do. ”
