Hey! I... Guess you'll never see this post, considering your old post was made so long ago... But I just stumbled across this blog and thought it was a great idea. I know you've never seen me before, and I probably shouldn't care, but after reading your last post... I can only hope you're doing okay. And if you have any other blog where you're still active, it'd be cool to follow you there!
*throws confetti up in the air bc social distancing means I can't get someone to help with my dramatic entrance*
Hi, hello, admin here!! Thanks for your concern and your ask, I've been sitting on this one for a while because I was still processing the fact that someone out there found this blog years after I made it and cared enough to come check on me. (*꒦ິ꒳꒦ີ)
If you're adjacent to or new to DRAMAtical murder, have a belated welcome to the fandom (or at least a wave on your way past)! I know you said that we don't know each other and maybe you shouldn't care, but I'd like to respectfully disagree. I'm very happy (and touched!!!) that a stranger on the internet saw I was struggling in 2017 and took the time to come drop something into my ask box even though they knew there was a high chance I might never see it. That year was a low point in my mental health journey and I've never quite hit that level again until this pandemic. I wish I could tell you with confidence that I'm okay, but that would be very close to a lie. I don't think anyone right now is truly "okay," but wherever you are I hope you are doing well and you have a good 2022. ♥️
If there's anyone else who's still following this blog and active on this site, I hope you don't mind the random post on your dash. I saw that @dmmdresources had a burst of unexpected (though very welcome!) activity recently and it caused me to think of this side blog and this ask.
This isn't really an update but more like me gauging how many people on here still want DMMD content on their dash in 2022. I've some things to say so this will be a bit longer than I'd like.👇👇
If there's enough interest I may reconsider my decision to stop posting on this blog, though I will caution y'all that it'll take a while to retrieve my thoughts and meta before I make another post proper if that's the case. Disclaimer: this is not a guaranteed return, I will only consider it if this is something someone other than myself is invested in and wants to see. If there's anyone out there that wants this, let me know by reblogging this post or shooting me an ask directly! Since my last post I have developed chronic pain issues and I can't afford to put all my eggs in one basket.
So if you've missed this concept and want to see more of it, you can thank @javitaxy789 for the nudge, reblog or hit up the askbox. If not, then have a good one and thanks for giving this a bit of your time. It'll be sad for me to close the chapter of my life that was centered on this fandom, but I feel like if it ends this way then at least I'll have had some closure.

Update 11.15.17
Hi, it’s me again. No, I’m not dead, I’m still alive and very much still into the DMMD fandom. I apologize for the lack of consistent updates; I’ve been in a hard place mental health-wise for a while but it seems to be in a lull now, so. Yeah. Here I am with a more tl;dr post than usual. Please bear with me.
I am flattering myself by assuming that since I got new followers about a month ago that people are still interested in this idea of mine. I am still leaning towards either Koujaku or maybe Mizuki for the next post, but if y’all wanna just pop in and suggest someone I’m open to that too. It’s easiest for me to maybe just start the thing and add as I go rather than doing one-big-lump posts probably, so maybe watch out for that? Since the characterization hum in my head never really just shuts up, it just kind of spits out things at random after they’ve been on simmer for a while. Apologies in advance if I do go with this.
Anywhoo, this is my PSA that I do have both anxiety and depression that have gotten much worse since I first started out with this idea, but please rest assured that I am committed to seeing this through since I’ve spent so long in this fandom and am thirsty for content. What this means is that I really do value other people’s positive feedback; it helps counteract the negativity in my head that maybe no one cares or that this isn’t relevant. So if this is something you want to see continue, I have to ask that you let me know in some tangible way other than “Likes.”
They’re nice, but they’re not strong enough to help pull me out of the pit. It takes so much nowadays to pull myself out of bed for something like this that I’ve invested so much of my thoughts and love for these characters in, so please.

Update 9.20.15
Hello hello! Just wanted to say that yes, I am still running this blog, and a big, big thank-you goes out to those people out there who keep following it and reblogging past posts!! /// I’m happy people seem to like the concept that forms the basis of DMMD Color Theory.
Anyway, long story short, I’ve been thinking a lot about Koujaku recently so it seems like the next post will be about him. I know this is coming a month late for you embarassing nosebleed hippo-lovers and I apologize ;; In the interest of complete honesty though, it will take me a while since I’ve been tied up with a dumpsterload of readings like you wouldn’t believe, and I also want to rewatch Koujaku’s routes, so please bear with me!! //bows

It’s always nice to meet somebody who feels the same I do ^^// Thanks for the comment!
the color red in DRAMAtical murder
RED:
Violence/bloodshed; linked most dominantly to Ribsteez.
Anger, fury, passionate emotions.
Leadership or directed action.
CHARACTERS: Koujaku, Mizuki + Mink
Above are the characters that are most strongly linked to red. Mink’s included as an extra because pink is red and white. And guess what they have in common? THEY ARE ALL RIB TEAM LEADERS. Respectively, their teams are Benishigure (紅時雨), Dry Juice (ドライジュース), and Scratch (スクラッチ).
So what exactly is Ribsteez? To refresh the memory, I’ve included the in-game definition below:
“…When members of a team made up from some residents in the Old Resident District gather and fight turf wars. The teams paint alleyways and walls with their team’s logo, marking their turf…”
By definition, Rib is a pretty violent game, not only involving fisticuffs and territorial disputes, but also the claiming of such territory and team identity through graffiti art and body art. In this sense, then, the color red could also denote the illicit nature of Rib and its associated art media, especially its link to tattoo.

Thank you, everyone!
Somehow, since the last time I posted the red color meta, 100+ notes have collected on both the red post and initial post when I wasn’t looking ;; I’m very happy that others in the fandom are interested in these semi-coherent ramblings of mine.
Well, seeing as the stats tell me this blog now has 77 followers, does anyone want to drop me an ask or something suggesting what I should ramble about next? Color, character, etc., etc., anything is free game at this point! Without some kind of direction I’m a bit lost as to who/what to talk about next so please say something?
While I wait I’m gonna see if I can’t find me a better icon than this sleepy sphere so don’t be shy!
Anything?

Update 7.25.15
Well, I’ve done it! It took a little while, but the first meta post is up, and it’s RED. I may or may not go back later and add visual refs when I’m rested, but the core’s there!

By definition, Rib is a pretty violent game, not only involving fisticuffs and territorial disputes, but also the claiming of such territory and team identity through graffiti art and body art. In this sense, then, the color red could also denote the illicit nature of Rib and its associated art media, especially its link to tattoo.
Getting back to the characters though, please note that out of the three mentioned above, only two have red as a BASE COLOR; that is, part of their official character design. Most notably is Koujaku, nicknamed “Red” by Mink, and Mizuki, who, interestingly enough, is head of Dry Juice — noted by Aoba in-game to be the biggest Ribsteez team in existence. And coincidentally enough, they’re both friends of Aoba.
This observation is important when you remember how we’re first introduced to Mizuki in-game and in DRAMAtical Murder the Animation. Quick summary below:
Aoba runs into some members of Bug Bomb, another Rib team.
They decide that they like his jacket and they try to rough him up.
Mizuki shows up and runs them off by virtue of being “head of Dry Juice.”
Remember that Aoba’s an easy target not only because of the aobooty, but also because of the fact that he isn’t easily identifiable as part of a Rib team:
“…All members, except the head, wear a tattoo of their tag art somewhere upon their bodies. Because most young people in the district do Ribsteez, people without tattoos are called "No Marks" and are often a target of harassment. Because of how widespread Ribsteez is in the area, a majority of the player make fun of the people who play the virtual computer game ‘Rhyme’."
Aoba may be a “No Mark,” but he’s also fortunate to have BFFs who are Rib team leaders that have his back. This juxtaposition of color — red (Koujaku and Mizuki) and blue (Aoba) suggests that red also acts as a complement/counter to blue, or in the case of Koujaku and Ryuuhou in Koujaku’s route, an opposing force.
An opposing force, I say? That’s what I said. For every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction, right? A notable character trait of Koujaku is his fairly quick temper, especially when he and Noiz butt heads. Remember the time they basically trashed Aoba’s room, and the time when Ruff Rabbit and Benishigure face off in the streets?
I believe the reason that red is Koujaku’s color is that he’s so defined by his temper and his lack of control of it; this is consistently true in the common route, his backstory and bad ending, when he loses all control and reverts to his beast self. (More about this in a separate character post!)
It’s not only Koujaku though — thanks to DRAMAtical murder re:code, we get a glimpse into Mizuki’s past when Aoba Scraps him in the Morphine route:
“Somewhere in me I still feel these mix of emotions – of anger, or regrets, and then…” (part 3.1; scroll to where Mizuki starts speaking and it’s the 8th set of ““.)
This is when Mizuki’s talking about how he first got into Rib. He adds later that
“Now that I think about it, I never know what I really wanted after all. I only wanted to distract myself from the annoyance within me. That was how I got involved with Rib.” (same link as above; three lines down.)
For Mizuki, then, Rib was an outlet for his anger and other emotions, at least initially. Therefore, it can also be said that red is the color of anger or the outburst of emotion in DRAMAtical murder for these two characters, unlike Mink who shows no easily discernable emotions.
(Mizuki in the Morphine route is basically Mizuki without the anchor of his friends and Dry Juice. I don’t think it’s a coincidence that Mizuki’s eyes are colored red near the center when he’s still chained to Morphine, do you?)
It’s also interesting to note that the more red there is in the character design, the more they wear their temper on their sleeve… quite literally. Koujaku has the most red, so that makes sense; Mizuki has red too, but there isn’t as much of it since he seems to be better at controlling/hiding his emotions.
Red might also be interpreted as the color of leadership or (passionate) action, as all the main characters that are Rib leaders are associated with this color, both Midorijima reds (my nickname for Koujaku and Mizuki) very lively and social as opposed to Mink’s emotional detachment/isolation. What I find interesting, though, is that all three of these men — Koujaku, Mizuki, and Mink — also have a creative aspect to them in that they’re all artistic as well! I mean, Koujaku is a hairdresser, Mizuki is a tattoo artist, and Mink does the art thing in his good ending. I guess Nitro+Chiral wanted to sneak that in there or something to lighten up the destructive connotation of Rib?
So to end this analysis on a brighter note, the flip side of “anger” and “emotion” is not only “blood that is shed,” but also  “blood that creates and gives life.”
All translations by the lovely shino-cchi used with permission!

Update!
So I’ve had ideas percolating in my brain for a while but I haven’t taken the time to type ‘em out yet. I hope to get the basic colors up first, then maybe branch out into how the characters relate to my meta.
Sorry for the long wait if anyone’s been waiting! It might take a little longer, depending on how hard I find it to format the blog theme to my needs!
If you’re excited, reblog this so other Dmmd fans can see! In the future, I hope this will be a useful resource for all DRAMAtical murder fans so get the word out!
[EDIT!] I’ve added a new page with short blurbs explaining the basic meaning of each color in canon.
Also, I’m most likely gonna start with red, seeing as I can branch out in three directions from that.

Dmmd fans, have you ever wondered “why”?
I think it’s fairly common knowledge in the DRAMAtical murder fandom, but you know how every character has a specific color that means something different and gives insight into their backstory, personalities, etc.? I don’t know if anyone has already tried making a blog about this alone, but I’ve thought extensively about this so I thought it might be a nice thing for the fandom to have all of this info on one blog to help plot out characterization.
The basis for this blog is the rationale that EVERY CHARACTER HAS THAT COLOR FOR A REASON. Tbh this started out as my musings on why each chara’s outfit designs were so weird, but hey, I had to start somewhere right?
If you’re interested, I will be supporting my theories about each character/color/symbol, etc. with evidence from:
DRAMAtical murder,
DRAMAtical murder re:connect,
the character songs and drama CDs,
the wiki/fanbooks,
other fans’ research and headcanons
the English fanpatch playthroughs on YouTube,
and even CGs where applicable.
-- primarily anything official, at times incorporating concepts held to be common within fanon. Each source will be cited and other authors credited, of course, to prove that what I’ve been thinking does have a basis in canon. For now I will be focusing mainly on the first two games plus DRAMAtical murder: the animation, as re:code is fairly recent.
DISCLAIMER IN ADVANCE:
this blog will contain spoilers for basically every route and will possibly be NSFW in the future if I include CGs.
This is going to be an ongoing project as I intend to incorporate all of the characters possible, including but not limited to the route-specific characters, so I’ll ask for your patience in advance!
My thoughts and theories are not concrete, nor do I claim them to be so; I am exploring why I see certain tendencies/recurring visual or conceptual motifs.
I DO NOT CLAIM TO OWN DRAMATICAL MURDER, ITS CHARACTERS/PLOTLINE/ETC. Please support Nitro+Chiral by buying this or any other games/merchandise produced by them.
And sorry for the tl;dr, but if you are liking this idea, please REBLOG to get the word out so other DMMD fans can see this! ‘Like’ if you must to save it for reference, but this blog will mean nothing if no one else sees it.
