July 24, 2000
This was a hectic week for me, so you can imagine what kind of week Brit has had. We started in New York with the Elle Magazine shoot. After the shoot, we flew by private jet to Dallas for a show. I loved the private jet. It was very spacious! You fly at really high altitudes, so there is less turbulence. The food is wonderful because they order what you request ahead of time. The couches make out into nice beds so you sleep really well. We don’t get to fly this way often, so we really enjoy it when we do.
The Dallas, San Antonio, and Houston crowds were fabulous. I actually felt like dancing! There was so much energy in the crowds, you could feel it. Aunt Sandra met up with us in Dallas. She and I enjoyed the concert from the side of the stage for the first time. I could have have died when I accidentally stepped on a cord and it came loose. It just happened to be a major plug for the music on stage. All of a sudden, there was no sound. The band, dancers, and Brit were all looking around at each other. After a minute, the stage managers realized the problem and fixed it. Needless to say, I do not stand on the side of the stage anymore!
The heat index in these southern cities were killers, but San Antonio was an indoor arena and Houston’s stage was air-conditioned. I have never heard of an air-conditioned stage before. It was a life saver! Brit has to have an oxygen tank on stage between songs because of the high energy show. The dancers share a tank also. The extreme heat would have been terrible. After the last Houston show, Jeff, Britney’s bus driver, drove us home to our front door step that night. It was only a six hour drive. Brit, Rob, Fee and I slept the whole way. It was wonderful to wake up at home the next morning and have all my children under one roof again. I know it won’t be for long, but we’re going to enjoy it while we can.
Today, we’re going to go see grandmas and grandpas and the new house. Tomorrow, we will swim and go boating somewhere. Also, we’ll see a movie and go out to eat. We will sleep late and take naps at ANY time we choose. Thursday, Brit and Bryan will leave for work. Once again, I will cry a little. I hate to say good-bye…
Lynne
