What the fuck is the 4by4?

It originally started as a small single character ask blog on thecrumpler's account! if you remember crumpler's other project "strawberry nightmare" you can view this as "cometcare but if it was written by a different jackass".

4by4 is an askblog that focuses on four different protagonists living their own lives on an alien planet on the brink of war. But nobody cares about that right? You're here for the CHARACTERS which will all get introduced under the arc 0 - "shortcomings"

Hello everyone! Here is Chapter One of Christcare, I would really like feedback in general, even minor nitpicks in the writing is super helpful, or compliments and whatnot! I hope you enjoy!

Freakycare Arc: "Coming out" Mini-Review

TW: INCEST MENTION, NSFW MENTION

Well, first let's address the elephant in the room.

INCEST ALLEGORY

Incest in Freakycare is represented as a sexual identity, the label being "kindred" which means "attraction to members of ones own family"

This is... very weird. It's meant to be an allegory for queerness, but it comes off as offensive, due to the inherently predatory nature of incest.

It feels more like a fetish than an artistic decision, especially considering the sexual tones that KC uses all the time in her works (even all the way back in Team Escapees). Maybe it would've been better to use anything other than incest as an allegory for sexual identity...

THE WRITING

KC's strengths in writing come out the most in short stories, and this is no exception. The writing throughout Freakycare is pretty good, even though it's a little shallow for my tastes.

one thing I take issue with though, is the abundance of sexual jokes, which made me feel discomfort. The ending of the Arc also made me feel very uncomfortable, Sly x Eve having an implied future romance felt like seeing something that I shouldn't have seen.

This is a minor nitpick, but the doomood kid seems shy, and I don't think they really would've felt comfortable sharing their views/opinions about kindred stuff... It feels like KC just wanted to communicate how everyone felt about Eve coming out and it felt forced.

THE ART

The art is some of the worst art for the SparkleCare Universe so far. I know KC had to make sacrifices to get the story out as quickly as possible, but it looks terrible. So many goofy mistakes. So many awkward angles. It gets the job done, is the only real compliment I can give it, otherwise it's like a 4/10.

There are some good panels though, with a lot of neat ornamentation.

CONCLUSION

i really don't understand why this comic is being made at all, it's supposedly made to help KC cope with her trauma, but... This is my opinion, she is hurting herself and hurting the people around her with her actions and by making this comic as a whole. She's burning bridges for no reason, while she surrounds herself with people who enable her. Throwing away everything you've made for... what?

i actually did have an idea to add some interactive scenes into christcare involving Chris Tlee Ill and Knot Evan Livings (similarly to how Homestuck has interactive sections) but I don't have the time to learn how to do that on top of making the art for it. One day I might though!

as soon as freakycare game come out we should instantly make anticare and christcare reskin. all sex scenes should be replaced with them praying the rosary instead

David and Goliath

Meanwhile, the Philistine, with his shield bearer in front of him, kept coming closer to David. He looked David over and saw that he was little more than a boy, glowing with health and handsome, and he despised him. He said to David, “Am I a dog, that you come at me with sticks?” And the Philistine cursed David by his gods. “Come here,” he said, “and I’ll give your flesh to the birds and the wild animals!”

David said to the Philistine, “You come against me with sword and spear and javelin, but I come against you in the name of the Lord Almighty, the God of the armies of Israel, whom you have defied. This day the Lord will deliver you into my hands, and I’ll strike you down and cut off your head. This very day I will give the carcasses of the Philistine army to the birds and the wild animals, and the whole world will know that there is a God in Israel. All those gathered here will know that it is not by sword or spear that the Lord saves; for the battle is the Lord’s, and he will give all of you into our hands.”

As the Philistine moved closer to attack him, David ran quickly toward the battle line to meet him. Reaching into his bag and taking out a stone, he slung it and struck the Philistine on the forehead. The stone sank into his forehead, and he fell face down on the ground.

So David triumphed over the Philistine with a sling and a stone; without a sword in his hand he struck down the Philistine and killed him.

David ran and stood over him. He took hold of the Philistine’s sword and drew it from the sheath. After he killed him, he cut off his head with the sword.

Christcare Update + Q&A

Hello everybody! I'm happy to announce that the writing for the updates are coming out very clean and I may be done very soon! Though I would like to know, how would you guys want the format to the comic to be like? More like the original SparkleCare, or more like a bunch of different mediums? (Videos, animation, music, etc.) But bear in mind that would mean less pictures overall or they would be saved for important moments, and the majority would be in text form.
