This is a follow-up to a short, haphazard piece I slapped together with Nicholas in a skirt and Matt. It's kind of reflective, not really purposeful; it may never get posted, but I'm going to at least finish writing it (for my sake, at least).

Matt has that look on his face — the one that always sets people who don’t know him into fits because they think he’s angry but Nicholas knows means he’s thinking. So Nicholas waits, patient as he can be in this moment, and finally tires of Matt’s uncharacteristic but incessant fiddling. So he takes Matt’s hands, grasps them a little firmly but short of squeezing. To his surprise, Matt makes a soft little noise and twists his hands around to twine their fingers together. Oh.

Today was one of those days when Noah was just being a shithead. He was never hyper; he wasn’t bouncing around, and he wasn’t talking incessantly, but he seemed to have found some kind of formula to calculate just what to say to annoy Jolly every time he parted those pretty little lips of his. It had been a hangout session meant for the entire band, but Nicholas had very quickly (and, honestly, with an uncanny accuracy that he always seemed to possess when this matter came up) deduced that the energy sparking between Jolly and Noah was going to end in something that Nicholas did not want to be party to.

a year ago, this whole thing started when i was talking with some friends about the size difference between folio and jolly and somehow, it spiraled into this. honestly, it was only ever going to be one fic before i realized how much it was loved. and i'm so appreciative of the love that this little verse of mine has gotten. 17 stories (so far), over 45k words of these guys who have become my absolute beloveds to write.

From time to time, Noah catches himself wondering: is it supposed to be this easy—loving someone?

He’s familiar with the way romance is portrayed in movies, how it’s filled with drama—endless fighting, burning passion, bloodshed, life or death stakes, heartbreak, and the grand confession that comes just after the third act, leading into the happily ever after.

The older generations bemoan the younger’s lack of effort, insisting that love requires sacrifice and struggle, and perhaps it does, but maybe compromise isn’t as dirty a word as they make it out to be.

There are days he sits waiting for the other shoe to drop—for a fight to erupt over something he forgot, or for you to grow tired of habits he isn’t even aware of. It’s a feeling he knows all too well.

He has a bad habit of isolating himself, going days without checking in because he’s too hyper focused, not because he doesn’t care. Sometimes, he just needs the nudge, the reminder that you’re there, that you see him.

He braces himself for the fallout, like the quiet before the storm, but you’re not like that. You never have been. He understands now that you’ve always loved him for exactly who, and how, he is.

You love him in all the ways he’s always wanted to be, and he loves you just the same. You make him feel safe, wanted, and most importantly, loved.

I usually have it up as background noise but sometimes I’ll hang out in chat for a little while. He’s really funny.” And handsome. You manage not to say that out loud though, enamored by the man on the screen. He is funny, making jokes and cracking himself up. His voice is soft and strangely soothing and he’s charming. “What’s his name again?” “Noah Sebastian. He plays guitar and sings sometimes too.” Great. As if he couldn’t get more attractive.

"What're you thinking?" Jolly hums softly, his fingers aimlessly running through Nicholas's hair, a shrug twitching his shoulders. "What if we just got away for a few days? Went somewhere quiet?" Nicholas shifted his weight, turning so he was looking at Jolly. From his position resting against the guitarist's chest, he could see the slight crinkle in Jolly's eyes as he smiled. "What like...like run away together?" Jolly snorted. "No, like an actual vacation. Just us. What do you think?"

This seemed to come out of nowhere. They exhaled, shifting their weight to stand a little taller. "You've saved my life more than once Noah," Ash said quietly, "Let me help you." His jaw muscles flexed, dark eyes meeting Ash's for a moment before they flicked away. "I told you. I don't need it. I'm fine." "Fine. Bleed out on the sidewalk. Stubborn man."

When you suggested spending the day in the park, you were nervous it sounded ridiculous. Noah had agreed immediately, explaining that FaceTime hadn't been enough for him while he was on tour. He needed to spend as much time with you as humanly possible while he was home, and what better way to do it then relaxing on a blanket in the middle of a park? The weather was perfect and it gave him a chance to buy an obscene amount of snacks.

Here's the general summary for my Dystopian Future Series ( Artificial Suicide ): There was a time Los Angeles was beautiful, or at least, something closer to it. Now it's a neon nightmare, filled to the brim with gangs all fighting for power, for a seat at the table, with no regard for the innocent people caught in the middle. All of them except for one: Bad Omens.
