LOOPiN Plot Interest Survey!

For context: All of these things will for sure happen, this is more to decide the order in which I will present these plots, which perspective to take and how much time I'll spend on them (the less votes one gets, the least 'chapters' I'll write about it in favor of focusing more on what's in broader interest, and vice versa).

These are very loose, vibey pitches for funsies, but if maybe you want more details before making a decision, I can spand on them a bit more trought the inbox, even after this one day poll closes. So! Without further ado:

LOOPiN (formely known as 'Boy Of The Week') is a fictional south korean boy group originally debuted under Blockberry Creative and New Wave Music as a counterpart for LOONA. The band parted ways with BBC in 2022 and now proceeds as a stand alone act solely under New Wave. The group is currently made up of members TAESONG, MINWOO, SEUNGSOO, HARUKI, DYLAN, GYUJIN, O.Z, HANJAE, J.J and HAEGON.

LOOPiN deals with 18+ storylines, thematics and imagery (substance addition, mental and physical illness, toxic codependency, abuse of workplace power, etc.), therefore, this blog is not minor friendly. It also isn't associated with RP in any form. All interactions come from @dogscomplex.

An excerpt for the first draft of "If It Isn't Hurting, You're Not Doing It Right".

I am SO GLAD I can relate something to "If It Isn't..." because I have so many things to say about this particular piece, this particular 'arc' of sorts that is The Great Minhang Fight Of 2020, and how this bitch both almost KILLED ME creatively wise and then rose me from my grave when writing was very, very hard later down the line.

I think that in general, she's a prime example of me at my worse writing. She's a 8K monster. Why? I have no answer to that question. The paragraphs describing setting are so messy, there's never a single sense of space ever. She taught me the hard way that I suck so bad at writing physical altercation, or just full on very intense fights in general. She was the one beating me up, I swear. This piece was intended to be the very first thing to go up on their blog, but do you know her? No. And you never will. Not at this form.

This piece has metamorphosed into a very different (and so much better) piece on Draft 2, one that I'm currently writing actually and having a blast, that uses one small scene from "If It Isn't..." and buildings up and around it.

The thing is: "If It Isn't..." focuses so much on going about this fight bit for bit like a script, which is a bad way about going through this major event, something I took a hot minute to figure out but once I did, it honestly changed everything. I no longer think "Who are the characters involved in this scene?", when I start planning, but rather "Who's going to help me tell this the most interesting, dynamic way?"

In the end, it's the aftermath of the Big Minhang Fight Of 2020 that has any real importance, it's all about the dynamic shift it causes on the whole group, the things it brings about these character personalities to the suffice in front of each other. Having a second party that is unaware of how everything went down (O.z) narrating what happens in the next following days has such a bigger impact then actually having Minwoo and Jiahang on that room having that one conversation: it's even better if we never know everything that was said and done, because it fits into one of LOOPiN's major themes, which is the disproportional correlation between information of a situation, of someone and actual knowledge. Truth is 100% not universal and can ever exist without being personal, and any loop dude could tell you that.

I have never used the world butterfly on any of my drafts ever, which uh???? So I went for another insect <3

One thing about me writing siblings is that they'll be either killing each other with hammers or killing everyone else with hammers to protect each other. Haruki and Furumi constantly bounce between both states because it's not easy to love someone who convinced himself that he's deadly allergic to being looked after (Haruki) when you're someone who's very bad at picking up emotional context clues about yourself and others (Furumi). But they're very much trying and I love that for them.

An excerpt from an untitled scenario that came from a discarded ask I received about LOOPiN going on Shooting Stars (I'm so sorry anon!!!! It just turned into a whole Thing.)

Does this kind of applies as ego + fragile? I really like Minsong they're such fun foils. I got to write quite a little of their relationship evolving on Draft 1 from I-Despise-Everything-You-Stand-For to I-Still-Despise-Everything-You-Stand-For-But-I-Kind-Of-Get-You-Now. And I have a new plotline for Taesong planned for Draft 2 that is going to give me so many opportunities to write them being sort of friendly out of ultimate necessity so!!! Fun!!!

Excerpt from an untitled Notes app on my phone that was meant to go on the first draft of "Oh My God Kwon Dongwook Hiiiiiii".

Less wrath as a quote, more like wrath as a character because man, is this dude filled with mad rage. I name dropped Dongwook like, 2 times, but the amount of chaos this guy causes just by existing is crazy. A true final boss antagonist. I really like how committed he is on being a LOOPiN hater because yeah, these guys did lowkey fundamentally change his brain chemistry and life philosophy. And I also like the fact that he looks like this kskxkxk like this is the dude that punched a teeth out of Seungsoo's mouth AND made J.J jump off a window. Who would have thought.

Unfortunely a lot of the characterization Dongwook has on Draft 1 no longer aligns with my vision of him. I was too soft on this guy. In a way, I think he played me even, because he is so shifty. But no more. I see right trought him now. He is evil and delusional and not even God can save him. Sorry to this man.

An excerpt of the first draft of (the very vibey titled) 'A Pair Of Rose Tinted, Heart Shaped Sunglasses'.

As Clarice Falcão would say, Hanjae and Haruki were the consequence of a purposeful trainwreck that didn't kill anyone but was almost fatal, which is something that you wouldn't know from this piece alone because here they're fun! Kind of! It's so funny to write Haruki from Hanjae's POV when he was down bad because I always try to sprinkle some signs that Things Are Not Normal and Nothing Is Fine.

In this piece, Haruki's phone goes off all day and everytime he takes a peek at his screen he flirts with Hanjae harder, and I'm just sitting here begging Hanjae to please, please just notice this and think about it for a second, analyse this pattern of behavior, but nooooo he's fucking blushing, like?!?!?! Dude! STAND UP! THIS IS SERIOUS!

An excerpt from the first draft of "Ivan The Terrible Kills His Son (1/2)".

Minwoo is very dear to me but unfortunately to him that means I love putting him in extremely shattering situations. I have shared so many bits and pieces of this two parter on this blog and my talk one because I love it, despite all it's flaws. It contains one of the first scenes I ever visualized for LOOPiN, and the draft of it is SUCH A MESS, so choppy, but there's a nice sentiment here. Made a web weaving about it once, because of course I did.

The element of grief has been added to Haruki's plot very recently, and was one of the major changes I made to the original story that made me go, "Okay, we need a draft two." I'm kind of lowkey realizing now that I have basically never really Talked about what Haruki's plot entails publicly despite how essential it is to everything, which is kind of funny??? It demands a lot of tws so it's not casual to just mention.

First excerpt from the first draft of 'The World As Seen From The Bottom Of The Stairs'!

First of all: FUCK BEOMSEOK! ALL MY HOMIES HATE BEOMSEOK! I swear, making him the main narrator for this piece was one of the worst narrative decisions I ever made. Dude was just a foil to unstable king Kim Haegon, I shouldn't have EVER given him a main character spot. 'The World As Seen From The Bottom Of The Stairs' has been my first attempt of writing the 'pilot' of LOOPiN's story, the quick starter to begin it all because linearly, it's the start of the story that really Matters, so it always made sense. It's Haruki and Haegon centric! Because they make up the Main Characters of Part 1!

FUCK SANGWON! ALL MY HOMIES HATE SANGWON! The thing with Haruki and Haegon is that they have never in their lives experienced freedom. Not even once. And that's a theme that is so present in LOOPiN's whole plot that I could literally add more 8 excerpts here. Haruki has ever been either captive or living in full debauchery, no in between, while Haegon is the poster child of Repression. (Something I'm contemplating to dive way deeper into in Draft 2!) Another 10/10 doom duo!

Excerpt from the first draft of the Seungsoo centric piece 'Seungsoo's Many Moons'!

'Seungsoo's Many Moons' is such a treasure to me because writing it gave me such a fun insight into his character! Seungsoo is constantly acting without thinking on his day to day life (in LOOPiN pieces where the focus is on the group, he's one of the people that really makes the plot move forward because he has a personal moral compass that doesn't' align with anyone else, pretty much a stubborn vigilante type), so I looove writing him romancing people because he really puts on an effort to be a good partner. Terrible friend, though!

And if I tell you this is one out of the three times they ever act friendly with each other on first draft??? Seungsoo and J.J have extremely crashing personalities and act on complete different planes, and as ~plot happens~, they lowkey get obsessed with hurting each other. Top3 LOOPiN disaster duos.

As I mentioned before on my talk blog, LOOPiN's Draft 1 (January 2021 - August 2022) has been partially concluded by me at around 70K words spread across Google Docs and various devices Note apps. An estimated 40% of the whole LOOPiN story, what corresponds to what I like to call as their 'season 1', has been planned/written very first-drafty during this time.

Now that I'm embarking on writing Draft 2, I'll pretty much retire these pieces as they've been these past two years. Some plot bits have changed, characters lost and gained meaning, the characterization of the loop dudes has evolved, and so on, so forth.

So! Where I'm going with this! I would love to share some bits and pieces of the work I have trought an ask game, because I'm quite proud of it! So, you guys can send in any word and I'll attach a small excerpt that relates to it from the drafts!
