Once I started setting up my place a couple of friends insisted that I write about it. I toyed with the idea for a while, but it stuck :)

I’ve been working for a furniture rental company for the last two years and decided to try it my self. The experience has been absolutely amazing. Its easy on the pocket and has multiple options. My living room needed some work; two wing chairs and a folding low seat (unfortunately no pictures). It was cute but just not enough seating. I finally rented a small L couch from www.furlenco.com. It was so pretty and the best part I would sleep on it too :).
A few months later I adopted a dog and hence had to puppy proof my place. I was worried mostly for my shoes (30+ pairs). So I swapped my couch for the beautiful Mijito storage sofa. The storage space is unbelievable, even fits dumbbells!
P.S. I could redo my place every 6 months if I wanted to ... which is pretty much what I did! The furnishing is all mine and the pick tables are a staple at my place.

So, what does it take to brighten up your living room, a couple of sheer curtains and a pink table.
When I set out to buy furniture for my new place, I didn't really have anything in mind before hand was open to anything that looked good and fit my budget. I stumbled upon this shop that sold refurbished furniture and the pink bench set just stole my heart. I ended up buying a couple of more pieces too, and both of them are just as eclectic as this one.
Another time I was helping a friend set up his house and we went to Commercial Street in Bangalore to buy a few cushions and lamps, We ended up buying all the linen from this tiny shop in one of the numerous crisscrossing lanes and that’s where I bought my curtains too. I wanted sheer curtains because I love sunlight plus they’re super cheap Rs.150 a piece and they’re pretty :)
So back to my living room, All I had to do was put all these together and a my room became bright and warm !

I had this old shoe rack that was just too small, so I decided to convert it into a bookshelf. I bought a couple of paints from my neighbourhood hardware shop and a small paint brush and got down to work.
As it was a wooden white shoe rack, all I had to do was - clean up the rack and start painting. I was so much fun, I finished it in two days; had to take a break in between to let it dry before I could turn it over.
I put up the shoe rack, now Book Shelf and hung wall hooks below it. My books were organized and so were my bags!

I’ve used my Dad’s old study table for years, so when I recently moved to Bangalore, It was one of the few pieces of furniture I just had to bring with me.
While exploring the new neighborhood market I came across this really colorful striped rug. It was a great deal at Rs. 150 and I was already thinking of my table. Once back home, all I had to do was to fold the rug into half and place it on the table.
It covered the chipped edges and gave my table a second lease! All it needed after was an old cup/penstand with a couple of colour pencils, a coaster and an old beautifully crafted canister i got from my mom to store all the little tid-bits I keep collecting :)

My DIY box!
What all does it have - coloured tape, fevicol, paper clips, measuring tape, paints, scissors, marker, paint brush, fevi bond, ruler, pencil, paper cutter etc.
Just the basic stuff is enough to start and make awesome useful things from junk. And remember to keep adding anything and everything potentially useful to the box.
