my producer whom i love dearly said that she loved the most recent cut of our short film and said it was “so you” and then later on in the conversation was like “we need to find someone who likes the reference films cause there’ll probably be people who watch this and are like wtf this is too ethereal and weird” like okay so you think i’m ethereal and weird

i am always the bitch who's like. that's actually not true :) your brain does not stop developing at 25 or ever :) love languages can be a useful vocabulary but is not real :) a lot of the personality disorders you villainize are responses to immense pain and fear :) stop trying to sort the complexity of human experience into HARRY POTTER HOUSES pleaseee think critically abt what u are being told and who's telling u this. why would someone want u to believe that u aren't fully capable of decision making until 25? psych has been a tool to oppress since it was created, don't buy into it!

having a quiet life is so.. underrated. i don’t mean it in the sense that people who’re open and loud and busy aren’t important, but when our culture has significantly put so much emphasis on the definition of success as fame, extraordinary accomplishments, greatness and importance and excessive wealth, i think there is so much power to be found in our own anonymity. in the silence of life. in not being constantly perceived, analyzed and performing for the world. in being able to take a walk, smile at strangers and just notice the world without all that noise. taking the biggest pleasure out of the smallest joys, like a cup of coffee or blowing out birthday candles. knowing that our lives don’t have to be a grand spectacle for others in order to have worth and cause a good impact.

one important thing that Must be understood about interpersonal relationships is that you have to stop interacting with people who love you like they’re one slip-up away from leaving you. you have to trust that the ppl you love mean what they say. you have to believe that when they say “this hurt my feelings,” that they’re also saying, “can you please love me this other way next time?” and you have to wrap your head around the fact that even if you don’t understand Why someone loves you, you can accept that that they do. true, honest, & open love does not function like hp in a video game !!!!!!

The Raincoat by Ada Limón   When the doctor suggested surgery and a brace for all my youngest years, my parents scrambled to take me to massage therapy, deep tissue work, osteopathy, and soon my crooked spine unspooled a bit, I could breathe again, and move more in a body unclouded by pain. My mom would tell me to sing songs to her the whole forty-five minute drive to Middle Two Rock Road and forty- five minutes back from physical therapy. She’d say, even my voice sounded unfettered by my spine afterward. So I sang and sang, because I thought she liked it. I never asked her what she gave up to drive me, or how her day was before this chore. Today, at her age, I was driving myself home from yet another spine appointment, singing along to some maudlin but solid song on the radio, and I saw a mom take her raincoat off and give it to her young daughter when a storm took over the afternoon. My god, I thought, my whole life I’ve been under her raincoat thinking it was somehow a marvel that I never got wet.

The point is to laugh into a kiss, to laugh at yourself, to laugh w the world but not at it, to share your dreams w people who listen to them, to realize when you’re wrong, to apologize even if it’s years later, to eat the bread that comes w dinner, to dive into the sea even when the water is cold, to forgive yourself but not be blind to your self, to remember your friends birthdays, to look for luck everywhere, to be sentimental and unashamed of it, to admit when you don’t know, to hold a shell to your ear and listen for the ocean, to hold your own hand and not shy away from someone else’s, to stop and smell the roses and the night blooming jasmine and the freesia, to live outside your head, to know how to cook for when you’re joyous and heartbroken and ravenous and lazy, to not crush the spider but help it outside, to always rediscover who you are and allow room for others to do the same, to watch the sunrise, to keep flowers in your house, to not let hopelessness poison you
