A quick rundown of Israel's violence in just the past couple of days in Palestine:
Israel continues its bombardment across all of Gaza, including targeting a food stall, a school, and a displacement camp last night, killing dozens of Palestinians including children [x]
Israel continues its invasion of refugee camps in the West Bank, destroying 70% of the infrastructure in Jenin and targeting Palestinian civilians including an 82 year old man who was shot 8 times before he was run over by Israeli tanks. Food, water and ambulances have been blocked and the main hospital in Jenin has been under siege for days [x]
Nope, not self defence but ethnic cleansing and genocide.

In light of the current crisis in Gaza, we encourage you to support organisations providing aid to Palestinians both in Gaza, and seeking refuge abroad.
As Australians, we’d like to highlight Palestine Australia Relief and Action, which provides support for Palestinian migrants and refugees in Australia through advocacy, financial and material aid, and community engagement.
We’d also like to highlight the Palestine Children’s Relief Fund, which has been operating since 1991, and continues to provide free medical care and humanitarian aid to children in Palestine.
Even if you can only spare $2, your donation will contribute to improving the lives of Palestinians.

Because I needed the reminder and maybe you do too: the best way to deal with political frustration is to do something.
A real and immediate impact you can have that will directly help a Palestinian is to buy an eSIM and send it to [email protected]. This allows Gazans to access mobile data so they can get news out and keep in touch with their friends and family.
If you have never done this before, here is a step by step guide, complete with discount codes. It is slightly technical but still fairly easy (imo, ymmv). If you can't/don't want to buy one directly, you can donate to Crips for eSIMs and they will buy one on your behalf.
You don't have to top up the eSIMs when they get low/run out, but I find it comforting to do so. It means somebody is still alive, and that you've made a hellish experience a tiny bit less terrible.

August 20, 2024 - If you want to help out the activists who have been physically interrupting the flow of weapons to the fascist Israeli state by attacking and occupying arms factories and businesses linked to them, you can donate to Palestine Action's Legal Defence Fund here: https://palestineaction.org/defence-fund/

BREAKING: The Palestinian Ministry of Health confirms the first case of polio in the Gaza Strip, identified in a 10-month-old in Deir Al-Balah and confirmed through lab tests in Amman.
This comes a month after the virus that causes polio, which has a 15-30% fatality rate, was detected in the water in Gaza and in light of a UN push for a 7-day-long ceasefire for a vaccination campaign. The Ministry of Health declared Gaza a polio epidemic zone at the end of July.

Since October 2023, Israel had attacked 155 schools that were sheltering displaced Palestinians in Gaza.
5 of these schools were attacked just in the past week alone.
The last of which was a few hours ago (August 10) when a school was struck three times with 2000 pound bombs killing over 100 Palestinians as they prayed at dawn.
A massacre so gruesome that the civil defence crews aren't able to identify and gather whole bodies.
This is Israel: continuously attacking school, hospitals and places of worship and calling it self defence.

Regarding Palestine, which members/senators do we write to? Any and all of them? Should we send physical letters or emails? Is there anything especially we should include?
OK so the thing you need to understand about contacting politicians is you're not being graded and this is not a test. The point is to communicate the thing you want them to know and you do that in the way that works for you. It's going to be ok! You've got this!
Here is a list of Senators. You can filter by the State or Territory you live in. You'll have 12 if you live in a state and 2 if you live in a territory. Though specifically Penny Wong is the Minister for Foreign Affairs as well as a Senator for South Australia, so if you live outside of South Australia add her to your list of people to contact.
Here is a list of Members. You have one who represents where you live. Feel free to also contact Anthony Albanese as well.
You can send them an email, a letter, and/or call them if you wish. Whatever way you want to do it is fine.
The thing to include is:
What your issue is
What you want to see done to resolve the issue
That's it. That's the fundamental basics of all communication with politicians. It's not an academic assignment that needs an introduction, supporting paragraphs, and a well researched list of citations. People get very worked up about this because it's unfamiliar and it feels super formal but I assure you it is not. Politicians get a ton of emails and I promise you a lot have typos and no punctuation by disappointed people who just want to be heard.
The most basic email/letter template is as follows:
Hello. My problem is (insert concern here) and I want you to do (solution here).
Best of luck.
You've got this.
