the professional scan of my super sculpey Rollie head (thank you so much @mirrorada !!). from here you can see her mouth is soooo asymmetrical 😅😅😅

not even sure where to begin ... like should I make the left side bigger or the right side smaller 🥲

or maybe just leave it as character. she was handmade after all

ahhh during this typed rambling I realize it's the migraine causing my decision making problems. I forgot this is one of the more frustrating side effects I've started having. I get cold and foggy and then can't decide so much as what to have for dinner or which headache medicine to take. ok so I will just start poking the model and see where it goes. I can always restore back to the originals from the scan.

I can't believe it! It's SO WEIRD to hold in your hand the thing you saw on the screen.

Holding it in my hand!!!!

And the quality! Holy shit we are living in the future!!!

Though here is the back side where I placed all the supports and was too rambunctious cracking them off and scratched everything up. The raised oval seems to be where I put too many supports close together and they melded together into a lump. I Am Learning Thing!

I am mentally running around with my pants on fire now. Which of the huge queue of things to print next 🔥🫨🔥

It's the middle of the night here but I must scream about this -- the print of the popple head looks like it came through!!!! It's still dripping and it's tiny for testing and I gotta sleep and wait until tomorrow to get it out and see if it actually works and didn't get distorted and and and ... but holy shit it looks recognizable my morale is BOOSTED babes!!!

And in the meantime I also finished the romper (pattern by Fancydolldesign on Etsy)! With that much thread left on the roll!

I've had this Janay head for years, but her original hair and paint just weren't my aesthetic at all. I finally figured out what would be the easiest things to change to make her more my style.

Placing a picture under the cut of how she looked stock, plus a list of what I changed

Stock on the left, and the hair cut I quickly gave her (years ago) on the right. The straight brown hair and earth tone face paint made it very hard to find much of anything in my doll clothes stash that worked with her.

I sat down yesterday and used a heavy needle to pick the glitter off of her lips, which I then painted over with sheer pink paint (so the original lip liner is still visible) with contrast blue shimmer. I also painted over her irises and eyebrows.

The new hair is made of the yarns from unraveled black rib knit fabric, glued to her head and coated with semi-gloss sealant.

She is now so much easier to dress with the clothes I have!

Oh wow. Yeah that is some unfortunate trimming.

I discovered a part in her hair and was able to sorta get it back into place.

But her hair is way longer on our right 😅 I'll try to cut it if I can summon some bravery. I'm not skilled at cutting any semblance of straight, myself ...

I thought maybe the scalp was rotated and the part was supposed to be in the middle? But I couldn't budge it. I don't know much about Blythes. YET.

I did learn today that Popmart did a new Blythe size recently sorta in between Middie and Petite, that has real functioning eyes and I think they're adorable. Good thing they're too tiny for me. Yes. Too small, that's the ticket.

Ahh found one of those fakie? clone? factory? Blythes at the thrift store for $7.99. I'm so happy. I have always wanted to find a real Blythe in the wild but this is the next best thing 'cause I've never seen the head/face in person and I was really wanting to.

Couldn't wait to get her in the car to have a proper look over.

She even has short green hair! Couldn't have picked better myself.

Wonder how she came to be here? Did someone get her for a kid who outgrew dolls? Or did someone get interested in the doll community and then lose interest?? A million scenarios.

Her body's a little grubby and wobbly but I'm shocked her face and hair are really great for being thrown around the thrift store process.

This was heavily inspired by the vintage Francie outfit Tenterrific. I tried several times to measure the pleats--but felt like making a pleating template was too much trouble--so I ended up pinching the cloth before ironing, so the pleats are not as even as they could be. It's fine.

DCSHG Catwoman head (with the eye paint altered slightly) on a RH Krystal body. I made the dress (I have so much of that fabric) and socks randomly

This outfit started with the tights, which I'd originally made for the Francie outfit, but they weren't quite right for it. The fabric is very stretchy, so I decided to try them on a DCSHG body--with its relatively large feet and really long legs--and the fit was really good. So! Made the dress to go with the tights. The lace and trim all came from my scrap bag.

I do not like sewing this small, but that means I don't have much that fits dolls this small, so sew this small I must, sometimes

Decided to make a dress for this doll with a face up by BarbiesGayBestFriend (I think it was originally a dollar store doll but I'm not sure), and it's wearing a Liv wig, on a FailFix body. I used my basic G1 MH pattern, but with the torso significantly shortened. It ended up being more 1990s than I expected.
