I was browsing the listings on Just Magic Dolls when I came across this entry for EuroGirls, which look exactly like my doll Cara (top left photo) from All About the Doll. This was a brand that debuted in 2003 and went defunct only a few years later. The dolls themselves were designed by Spanish doll artist Jose Andres Martinez. Their face molds and body molds appear to be identical to All About the Doll, which is a much newer brand. The only differences I can see in the dolls are their superficial features like eye and hair color. They were not given names or collections beyond the outfits seen here, whereas All About the Doll does both.
Of course that still doesn’t fully explain why they have the exact same body mold as Magic Attic Club dolls, a totally different brand designed by American doll artist Robert Tonner. MAC and EuroGirls might have been operating concurrently for a very short time; MAC closed down around 2004, a year after EuroGirls began.

My City, My Style, My Scene! 🏙💙
It’s #MyScene…you know what I mean?! One of my favourite doll lines turns 20 this year, so I decided to come up with new looks for the original 3 dolls released in 2002. #Barbie, #Madison & #Chelsea
(#Nolee & #Delancey are coming too). These girls were all about living it up in NYC, with their sleek city chic style & mature branding. Which look is your fave & did you love these growing up? I personally think Mattel should bring back one of their most well designed, successful & iconic doll lines.

2021 reflection post…
There were major highs & lows last year, & I was tested in ways I’ve never experienced before, but learned so much.
Let’s start with career highlights: My work was featured by @britishvogue, @variety & when @DojaCat wore my modernised Cynthia doll from #Rugrats design for Halloween, @allure mag featured the look. Halloween is always special for me each year, as I realise how strong my influence & impact is. Stars + their stylists get much inspo from my sketches & it’s something I want to further capitalise/expand on, continuing to collab with fellow creatives/brands & bring even more of my designs to life. @JourdanDunn wore a look inspired by my female #FreddyKrueger illustration, then @GwenStefani wore my design from 2016 for her #Disneyland Christmas performance. I sent out personalised art to @ivygetty as a wedding gift + also sent a print to @kimoraleesimmons. @Lizzo also had my illustration of #TheMuses on her moodboard for her Rumors video. All such great moments that I’m proud of! Another big moment was celebrating my 30th bday in July, & it’s crazy cos I still feel like a kid in so many ways.
I just want to say thank you to everyone who showed me & my work love every single day, sent me beautiful uplifting messages & continue to support my work each year. The love & support from you all, my family & my friends kept me going in ways you will never know, so thank you! I’m so ready for 2022 & I’m hoping it will be an amazing year for us all 🥂💫

I've had this thrifted Dance Class Rochelle for years in my parts box and never really knew what to do with her until I repainted my signature Robecca, then I knew I wanted to do the same with this doll.
I love Rochelle's limited colour palette and her unique plastic so I was excited to get to fix this doll up. As you can see she came to me after an unfortunate haircut so I had to reroot her, but this gave me the opportunity to use slightly different shades for her hair since I used nylon, and there's more of a choice than saran.
@CustomDollHairAU as usual was where I bought the different shades of nylon hair from and I'm really happy with how it looks against the monochrome fashion and light grey skin.
As a character Rochelle is so sweet and almost melancholy so I wanted to try and communicate that with this repaint, so I hope that came across. She's definitely one of my favourite characters and I'm really chuffed to have finished my version of her.

I have a weird/complex feelings about Jinafire as one of the only canonical Asian characters in g1 Monster High as an Asian doll collector and I can't really articulate them, especially when she fused with Lagoona but I did thrift Lagoonafire awhile back and held onto her since I do like the aquatic monsters.
I debated on what to do with her but I figure I'd keep the core elements of her design but filtered it through my taste and lean into her looking more Asian than try making her look aracial. So while I didn't like the shade of green, I did reroot her in a softer green saran, and I kept the corally red elements and gold in her make up as well.
So while she did try to share the core elements of Lagoonafire I did go in a different direction with her and I'm glad I like her a lot more than I did beforehand.
Also I did end up detailing Lagoonafire shoes in both hoping it ties together better with her outfit but also just bringing out the details beforehand.

Here is my Abbey Bominable I customised by repainting a big sister MH body to match my Basic Abbey's head with custom tights, leg/arm warmers and headband.
I really liked the height variations in the MH web series so I always wanted to have an Abbey doll that was taller. I also held onto this baity doll but I kept putting her off cuz her hair had become disgusting and I didn't want to reroot her, but learning to treat the glue by soaking it in Cif creme cleanser for a week or so really helped.
I'm just so happy to have my ultimate Abbey doll done because I love the character so.

I've always accepted that a piece of media that's meant to promote a toy line would rarely, if ever make toys based on things from the cartoon itself but rather is there to promote the toys and merch.
But as a fan of the cartoon, Scarah Screams was one of my favourite background character designs and I was so shocked to see her announced for a fan poll to have a doll made of her. The prototype made up clearly used a Frankie Stein base and I was so excited about the possibility of a cartoon canon character being made into a toy so of course I voted my heart out.
Of course, I am happy Scarah went on to get her own set of dolls using her own face sculpt, but part of me will always want the prototype that used the Frankie Sculpt.
So I did study the photos taken of her from SDCC and the promo pictures but all of them were really low quality and hard to see, I had to reference Scarah's CGI model from 13 Wishes to get an idea of her makeup placement.
I'm really glad I have the skills to make the prototypes of my dreams since she's been rattling in my mind for years now.

I was so ecstatic when I Heart Fashion Scarah was leaked cuz it meant that Scarah Screams wasn't just a SDCC Exclusive doll but an actual play line release doll. At the time getting to a Toys R Us was really hard so I actually had an IRL friend pick one up for me and I still remember standing on the train station steps and excitedly seeing her for the first time.
And the faceup I did was one of my favourites, and I remember thinking this was the best I could ever do (lol) so she was one of my favourites.
Unfortunately when my ex dumped me I had to put her in storage for a while and when I dug her back up, her glue head can completely ruined her head, leeching out the pigment from her paint, turned half of her head yellow and her hair was disgusting. I was so upset I just buried her in the bottom of a box and tried not to think about it.
But now I really wanted to revisit this doll in my current MH phase, so I went about researching how I could fix her.
The most accessible method for me to treat her glue head was getting Cif creme cleanser as it has Phenoxyethanol in it and I was happy to let it soak rather than risk doing a speedy method.
Basically I had to massage the Cif cleanser into the glue soaked hair to make sure it was fully saturated, then I poured a bunch of Cif in and used a screwdriver to scrape around and break up as much glue as possible. I then carefully put the Cif soaked head in a jar of hot water and let it soak over night.
After that I rinsed off the head and squeezed as much excess glue out of her head as I could. The sticky yellowed glue had turned white and brittle, and I used a pair of tweezers to pull out large chunks and scrape some more.
Unfortunately there was a lot of glue that didn't turn white that remained inside her head so I ended up doing this 2 more times.
After that, I treated the yellowing on her face by brushing on hair developer 40 Vol and set her in a sunny spot for a week. The yellow stains faded enough that I was willing to deal with it.
After that, her head is softer now and her hair isn't disgusting to touch anymore. The glue that has remained inside her head is hardened a bit and has turned white so hopefully it has become neutral enough to leave inside the head.
And then I gave her a new face up that echoed her factory paint but with lower lashes that reference Twiggy and a more neutral lip.

Needless to say Scarah dying from gluehead upset me was an understatement, but she was literally the only doll I was going to properly commit to testing treating gluehead on cuz of how much she means to me.
And I'm really glad the Cif cleanser method worked so well, even if it took the better part of a month to actually treat her since it's not a fast acting method. But knowing the majority of the glue has gone out of her head, and her head being deyellowed from the Hydrogen Peroxide hair developer method has me incredibly happy. Her being a success means a lot of dolls in my parts box can actually be fixed up now instead of waiting to be rerooted.
I'm also really glad Scarah still has maintained her factory curls even after all these years and the degluing done to her. I'm really glad she's fixed up to my liking.

Picked up a 2023 Mattel Ariel as my first purchase of the year. Definitely interesting to see the Mattel Ariel have such a different stylistic direction in her paint since we really haven't had a play line doll come with such red lips and dark blue eyes for quite some time. Even for a UV pixel face doll, she fits in well with my repaints for some reason or another.
