Rhysta AU Where when nesta went to get feyre in acotar she made it through the wall but got caught by Rhysand…

So when Tamlin is taken by amarantha and feyre comes to save him, trials ensue but nesta makes a deal with rhysand to keep her safe (like actually safe. no sa bullshit) when feyre dies, gets revived and goes to live happily ever after with her man Nesta has to go the Night Court. Ensue the second book, a Court of Mist and Fury. The REAL enemies to lovers.

I mean, SMJ is pointing to Nesta too? Like, he is pointing to Rhys, specially since they had already brought the subject about Rhys being the High King and he denying it .

But at the same time, SMJ had pointed to Nesta too when she made her with a eight point tatoo, and receiving something made from the stars.

What we know is that they are both related to the Dusk Court, and they both don't get along ( SMJ purposely made that clear. ) I guess... That whatever happens will make Rhys and Nesta not together.

Me seeing people fighting to decide who would be the ruler of the dusk court when sjm purposely wrote that said court being ruled by Rhys' ancestors, placing that said court in his territory and having that said court literally connected to his blood:

I thought is was obvious that sjm was planning the high king and high queen plot for Feysand since the first time this topic was mentioned? You know, the most powerful high lord of prythian? The woman who is connected with the seven courts, have all the seven high lords powers? The fmc and mmc of the acotar saga?

I think a lot of people continuously overlook the GOOD Nesta did during the series and only focus on her "hateful attitude". Sometimes actions show more than words and Nesta is an action girly.

ACOTAR- She tried to protect Feyre in the market. She went after Feyre when Tamlin took her. She essentially told Feyre to go and save Tamlin and not to worry about them. She was ready to marry someone to help have one less mouth to feed for Feyre. She chopped wood for two days in a row.

Also, I think this quote is important from book 1 from Feyre about Nesta:

"I looked at my sister, really looked at her, at this woman who couldn't stomach the sycophants who now surrounded her, who had never spent a day in the forest but had gone into wolf territory.... Who had shrouded the loss of our mother, then our downfall, in icy rage and bitterness, because the anger had been a lifeline, the cruelty a release. But she HAD cared - beneath it, she had cared, and perhaps, loved more fiercely than I could comprehend, more deeply and loyally."

ACOMAF - She wasn't in here much but both her and Elain opened their home to Feyre and the IC for the war purposes when they were taught their whole life to be scared/fear the fae and ended up turned against their will for their efforts which is incredibly traumatic.

ACOWAR - Nesta helped with the Queens and the High Lords. She helped Feyre and the whole Raven attack thingy. She participated in the war and almost died trying to save Cassian and then beheaded Hybern. She then helped tend to the wounded and dieing. She really had no time to sort through her own trauma during this time either since she was looking after comatose Elain and in a place where she didn't want to be.

ACOFAS - We see her drowning in her trauma. She can't even take baths (which Feyre had said in ACOWAR she'd help with as she never thought about how the Cauldron affected them). She is invited to party with rent money held over her head (despite the fact she had a job as human emissary during the war so where is the money promised to her from accepting that job from Rhysand?) While there, Feyre remarks how uncomfortable Nesta is but doesn't both to wonder why, and come to find out fire bothers her because it reminds her of her father's neck snapping RIGHT IN FRONT OF HER. Cassian runs after her and even though she wants to be alone she's hounded and is seen as the bad guy for not taking his gift. A gift he proceeds to throw away, like a child, into the water because she didn't take it...At this point she just wanted to be left alone and they kept hounding her and not respecting boundaries she was putting up.

ACOSF - She is still drowning..she is forced into the HOW (feyre said she'd be tied and thrown there essentially so it wasn't really a choice) where she has to walk down 10,000 steps (which she physically/mentally/emotionally could not do so she was essentially a prisoner since no help was offered by feyre and Amren own words and let's not forget those same steps were used as punishment for Rhysand and the bat boys)..she starts training though and finds her own found family in Gwyn and Emerie. She helps the IC multiple times with things in ACOSF to and even saves Rhysand, Feyre, and Nyx very lives. She even says sorry to Feyre and Feyre doesn't hold anything against Nesta, not even telling her about the babies wings because at least she told her. We also find out she tried to write letters to others to help during their poverty times and her boots weren't as new as Feyre made then out to be showing Feyre as an unreliable/biased narrator.

All in all, I wouldn't say Nesta is an absolutely terrible horrible nasty person that is beyond redemption or forgiveness.

She is a woman who has been traumatized from a very young age starting with her mother/grandmother to being turned fae to PTSD from war/her father and doesn't know how to cope so she lashes out (which is a VALID TRAUMATIC RESPONSE) to push others away because she HATES herself more than anyone else does. She knew lashing out was wrong but didn't have the tools/upbringing to know healthy responses. It's really not until Gwyn and Emerie came along and showed her UNCONDITIONAL LOVE that she began to change and learn better and new healthy coping mechanism to let go of the bad ones.

Now, I'm not saying her trauma response was good or acceptable or excusable, but I do think she deserves some grace and compassion given all she's been through herself. Trauma is not a comparison game after all and we all experience and cope differently. Just like these characters.

Bravo also to Robert Eggers for probably the least bad depiction of Transylvania in Western vampire cinematic history:

1. Having actual Romanian actors doing the dialogue in Romanian. You'd think this is a low bar to clear but nope.

2. High quality costume design that looks pretty accurate to 19th century Romanian and Roma peasantry, even down to specific braided hairstyles from the Transylvanian region.

3. Depiction of Roma people but refrains from having them as some typical Hollywood exoticizing role like a magical fortune teller etc. They're in like half a scene, just chilling and playing music in front of an inn.

4. Use of the word "strigoi" which are actual spirits in Romanian folklore, unlike the term "vampire" which didn't exist in Romania.

5. Sorry to the Nosferatu moustache haters, but a Romanian nobleman would have had that exact facial hair.

6. Depiction of religion (nuns, churches) that actually looks like Eastern Orthodoxy and not some vaguely spooky goth Christianity.

CHAPTER 00.1

She shouldn't have been at that school.

Days were flying by too fast, and she was certain she should be in her home country at this very moment, feeling the warm sun on her skin and forgetting the sorrows she was experiencing in this place. But that wasn't what had happened. Here she was, in this snow-covered, freezing city.

She didn't know what she hated more, the rain or the snow.

She sighed. Her shoulders slumped as she looked up at the sky, a look of defiance on her face. In her mind, she was on a plane, flying away, leaving her mother behind to deal with the ghosts she didn't want to face.

She was listening to summer music, she was in summer, not trudging through the snow to that strange school. She was walking to her house with its big windows, not to American torture.

She tried to think about it, to be positive, until her steps faltered, and she was neither walking in her mind nor in real life, but staring wide-eyed at her reflection. She was used to the snow, she had lived in this small town for two years already, but this was a difficult period when she forgot how the weather affected everything around her.

Her hair, usually in beautiful, dark curls, was full of frizz, and she looked like she had run straight from her bed to school without even remembering what a brush was. Milena couldn't believe it. And so she pulled the hood of her jacket over her head, covering her face and the mess of her hair as she walked heavily to her class.

As if it wasn't bad enough that her skin, usually tanned and making everyone assume she wasn't exactly from here, was three shades lighter – as if what had once been a tanned skin was now just faded – now she couldn't even have her hair. Nothing seemed to be working that week.

The whole morning had been spent in a bad mood, but not in silence as she would have liked. A week away from school and interesting things seemed to happen. Some people were magnets for trouble, Milena was a repellent for cool things. A new girl – the sheriff's daughter, cool, from Phoenix, apparently the land of the sun – and the disappearance of a Cullen after a class with the newcomer.

If it had been before the accident, Milena would have been bubbling with curiosity, murmuring and whispering for information. Now, she just really wanted to sleep .

The Cullens were always the topic, she was used to it. They had arrived a week after her, in this quiet, rainy town, and that had made everyone forget about the Latin wife and her teenage daughter, which was wonderful.

She had tried to approach one of the Cullens when she entered the school. The tall, blonde, and incredibly beautiful girl,  Milena smiled and waved at her when she realized they would be sharing a class, but nothing was returned. They seemed happy to keep to their family, and she had never been the type to push herself into places where she was clearly not welcome, so she always kept a polite distance. As polite as she could when sharing classes for two years. She still couldn't believe how everyone gossiped about them even when they were in the same room.

Lunchtime had been different, with all the movement of the tables, and well, the girl's eyes went straight to the Cullens' table, they were strange. They were laughing, playing in the snow, and apparently, Edward had returned to school. She always found it strange how when something happened to her, something also happened to the Cullens.

First, there had been the move, she had arrived, shivering from the cold, with a backpack on her back and a completely enamored mother, everyone's eyes on the two Latin women who had moved to the small town of Forks, with tanned skin, dark hair, and words that no one understood. Days later, no one talked about them anymore, no one looked at them, and all you heard about was the beautiful and incredibly distant family that had moved there.

Milena was grateful for that. She liked having attention when she was ready for it.

"She doesn't stop looking at them," someone whispered beside her, and she jumped high, the noise of her chair made some people look at her, including the girl who was beside her. "Wow, seems like you were too,"

"It's your fault, Whitney. You should walk around with a bell around your neck," the Latina said, running her hand over her face, shaking her head as she sighed. This was difficult. "And leave it, she's new in town, I remember everyone looked at them when they first got here too. It's new, and well, they're the prettiest..."

They both laughed. The laughter was loud and maybe that was the moment Milena didn't regret not leaving. She liked the friendship she had made, she liked to have fun as she could there, and well, at that moment, as she laughed, holding onto the girl, walking to the next class, Milena really didn't regret having decided to stay there.

And she also didn't notice a pair of golden eyes staring at her as she walked away.

By the way one direction inspired an entire generation of young teens to become artists, readers, writers, musicians, animators. 14 year olds were hacking into security cameras. Do you genuinely understand how hard that is? I literally have a tech degree and i still view hacking as too complicated. 14 year olds were in literal stem to watch one direction buy a bottle of shampoo. They have genuinely altered the courses of so many people's lives in terms of careers and long term hobbies. It was never just the music. I literally started reading by reading fanfiction. I am now a very active reader of many genres. I got a fucking tech degree because i wanted to see how it was done. Like its so unbelievably crazy. And they were massively bullied by the media and the rest of the world. They were ridiculed by the music industry. They were the biggest boyband on the planet and the only one that went as global as they did and they had them parody their own song 3 seperate times. They were never nominated for grammys as a group. They were genuinely never taken seriously and they changed the courses of young womens lives.
