I might never replicate this again but for the time being: hi meet Sir Damian, my pretty boy with an inferiority complex. He's working on it. And also a knight how cool!

Came up with an idea while trying to rework Calimshan into something that's uh. Not shit for my campaign:
I was recently watching Heeramandi and the idea of Patrons of the arts got to me.
Calimshan is a country that values art and artisric expression A Lot. In current day Calimshan, there is higher value placed on being able to perform, entertain and create. Amongst the nobility, you also have a concept of Patrons - people who house and feed budding artists in the hopes to encourage them to hone their talents. This customs has been around for centuries and has evolved a lot since it's first conception. You can have Patrons who act like managers of a production company, ensuring that their artists are making enough money to keep the company going. You have schools, dedicated to teaching and finding potential within the young, headed by a Patron. You also have people who hunt for exclusivity and good talent, great talent, and want to keep all of that to themselves, allowing their charge to only perform for them, and only when they want it.
Patrons can easily discard someone from their patronage if they wish. Patronless artists are seen as lesser. There is no shame, for example, about being patronless and no longer pursuing your art, switching careers - that is often seen as an attempt well made, though some can see it as a failure. However, if you continue to pursue your art for a long time without a patron or worse, after a patron has dropped you, it's seen as fruitless, a waste and embarrassing.
I reckon Patrons also have the power to black list their charge from other Patrons if they feel like their charge has wronged them. Obviously all of this can be misused and abused, and has been in the past.
If you're lucky enough tocome from an artist family, it is assumed that your parents are your patrons, though they are allowed to take, accept and manage several other people under their patronage.
I think not all nobility are Patrons, but i think most Patrons have to be some form of nobility or rich in order to properly care for their charges. The only obligation a Patron has is to house their charge and to feed them (keep them alive). This is also something that is taken with some liberty amongst the worst of the Patrons, especially outside of Calimport.

Putting everything I've ever made into an echo chamber so it can't exist where it can be perceived, and I live on in peace
Oh it's so dumb it's SO dumb. But being gripped with the sudden crippling fear that the characters you've made and shipped with other people's characters are not worthy of them. Feeling like they offer nothing to the dynamic other than hardship and confusion. Most embarrassing anxiety that exists FDGJKHFD
None of these guys are real. Anyway -

I'm still in a bit of an art funk, but I've also been mulling over what Roisia's non-adventurey life might have looked like in a Faerûn-But-Make-It-Modern-Magic setting. Wanted to get the clothing bit sorted out first.
