the main reason that NFT dates are not advertised is because then the existence of the bootleg would have to be advertised. Bootlegs are still illegal and masters don’t want too much word of their new bootlegs being spread
I completely respect NFT dates, just the biggest problem with them is they are kind of hard to find the actual dates imo. I literally only heard of “No For Trade” dates after the Mean Girls thing and people were talking like everyone just knew what NFT was and that it was the end of this month. Again nothing wrong with NTF if it helps the master, but I wish boots were more out there with these dates. Or someone had like an update often list of boots that were NFT

Okay.... here’s the thing with Off-Broadway venues (which Be More Chill is playing in) is that they are SMALL. way smaller than most people realize. The theatre Be More Chill is playing in is 14 rows, 294 seat theatre. THAT IS SO SMALL.
this means that the actors can see EVERYONE. every single person. which means an actor can EASILY spot someone filming and alert ushers and that person will be removed ASAP.
There is a reason that there are VERY few videos of Off-Broadway shows. it’s because the theatres are so tiny that it’s too hard to conceal yourself. So masters don’t film.
I saw This Ain’t No Disco a month ago, and i was in the last row on the side, AND YOU BET YOUR ASS THE ENTIRE CAST LOCKED EYES WITH ME AT SOME POINT. This is amazing from an audience perspective, but it’s NOT amazing for someone trying to film a bootleg.
Yall will definitely get a bunch of audios but the chance of a video is extremely low
BEAM THIS THING ALL ACROSS THE INTERNET
I DON’T CARE IF YOU DON’T KNOW WHAT THIS IS. REBLOG IT. I NEED THE BE MORE CHILL BOOTLEG. SOMEONE GET IT TO ME. STAT.

okay. let me try to help explain NFT dates?
1) masters sell bootlegs so they can make back the money they spent to make the video so they can go out and film more shows. they never ever make back all the money. but if you want them to continue to film new shows that are coming out then they have to sell them otherwise they won’t be able to afford tickets to these shows.
2) they also have NFT dates to provided some distance between when the video was filmed and when it gets circulated around. if it gets circulated right now then it’s easier for shows legal teams to track them down and stop them from filming more shows
so there’s the whole debacle about NFT dates for bootlegs and like I guess I get it because the ‘master’ wants to sell it but like people really shouldn’t be selling bootlegs in the first place like it’s not your show and therefore shouldn’t be gaining from it I don’t care if you think you deserve compensation for risking being caught and thrown out like you took that risk on your damn self
Like watch bootlegs I don’t care but benefiting from it? That’s dickish idk

it may surface but it may not.
Her last performance was an Actor’s Fund Performance. while there are tickets available to the public, Actor’s Fund performances are for other actors who are currently in shows to see their own peers work. This makes tickets to the public very limited.
There may not be an audio. If there isn’t, then you just have to accept that. There has been so many things over the last 10 years that i wish got at least an audio for and there wasn’t one
it has been two (2) days since laura took her last bow and there is no record of an audio
please. its gotta be out there somewhere

okay. sure. go ahead.
So next time you love a musical and are dying for a bootleg and realize NONE HAVE BEEN FUCKING FILMED because disrespecting NFT dates caused ALL MASTERS TO STOP RELEASING VIDEOS. I’m sure you’ll be saying the same thing.
The 2017 season we had 3 active masters.
The 2018 season we had 1 active master.
Fuck the NFT date, you don’t fucking own Mean Girls.  Message me if you want the boot, I gotchu

Honestly.... there are one TWO active masters right now. One has been around for a long time and one is very very new.
The odds of someone filming Anastasia right now are SILM
this is cause y’all couldn’t respect NFT dates and two of the long time masters have vanished for good
not to be dramatic or anything but i’d honestly sell all my organs on The Black Market™ for a bootleg of the current anastasia broadway cast (max as gleb, zach as dimitry, vicki as lily, etc.) can someone please take one for the team and record one

If you have a Mac then just insert a blank DVD into your computer, open up the DVD, drag all the files (smalls and VOBS), then just click “BURN” at the top of the window. and done. it’s so simply.
I know most traders won’t even consider doing this anymore, but I would really like to back-up and watch my videos using a DVD. I already have all the files necessary for this process (vob + smalls), so is there any software that you could recommend to get the job done?
Unfortunately, I don’t know of any software. I had used one a few years ago when I had to burn DVDs in order to save the stuff I didn’t have uploaded and I had to get a new computer, but I can’t remember the name of it.
Maybe somebody can help out and recommend something?

the Bandstand Proshot is being shown in theatres. There literally is no way to have unless someone films from the movie theatre it is being shown in. I am pro-bootleg and trade bootlegs but filming a proshot of bandstand is possible the worst idea EVER. If it gets filmed, it will be leaked ALL over the internet. Other musicals will see this. and BAM no more proshots in theatres. The proshot in theatres could become a more regular thing as long as no one ruins it
HI IF ANYONE GETS HOLD OF A BANDSTAND PROSHOT BOOT PLEASE KNOW I WILL TRADE YOU MY LIFE FOR IT

While I don’t agree with nasty and rude comments towards people who shared the video.... Can I try to explain why people are doing it?
So 10 years ago, there were tons of masters filming videos. Most shows got several bootlegs of it even if it only ran from a month or two. In the most recent years there has only been 3 masters still filming. In the last year that has dropped to 1 master who is still filming. Pretty much every single video from this season was filmed by ONE. PERSON. There are a couple new people i’ve seen recently trying filming. but who knows if those people will stick around if the NFT dates keep getting violated.
EVERY single bootleg from last season and this season was leaked before the NFT date. Every last one. In every case, experienced long time traders tried to nicely explain to new traders why they shouldn’t share a NFT video before the date passes and in pretty much every case the new person didn’t listen and shared it anyway.
Mean Girls isn’t an isolated incident. Dear Evan Hansen was leaked the DAY AFTER it was released for purchase.
The reason why it is impossible to find NFT date info is because the one guy that’s still filming has moved to a private email list where he releases new videos to purchase. Those on the email list are only those he has done business with before and he trusts.
Mean Girls bootleg thoughts
K so this has nothing to do with my usual content so feel free to just skip past it, but I’ve recently gotten into the Broadway fandom a bit after a recent trip to NYC, and just found myself falling down a rabbit hole of the whole “Mean Girls” bootleg drama (side note, I was fortunate enough to see the show live and it was just. absolutely. amazing.).
So basically what I can gather is that someone somehow got ahold of the bootleg (most likely purchased from the person who filmed it, aka the “master”) and shared it on youtube. This is kind of a major deal because the bootleg hasn’t passed its NFT (Not For Trade) date yet. I’m new to the whole bootleg terminology, but essentially the point of that date is so the master can make money off of the video to pay for costs associated with filming bootlegs before it’s traded/gifted all over the community for free. By sharing the bootleg publicly, this allowed many people to view the bootleg without having to buy it. Now apparently (this is just what I’ve read, keep in mind), the master is angry that their bootleg was leaked and another incident like this could turn them off of filming shows altogether.
Okay so as for my own thoughts…although I have some ethical problems with the idea of someone illegally filming a show and then putting stipulations like NFT dates on someone else’s intellectual property, I completely understand why leaking a master’s bootleg is detrimental. We need these masters to continue taking this risk if we want to ever see recordings of shows (which, for thousands of people, is the only way they are ever able to experience theater). Doing something like this can lead to masters leaving the trade altogether. I totally get the upset and why so many people are angry.
HOWEVER
I’ve also seen a huge amount of nasty, vicious comments directed toward anyone who shares or spreads these videos, and I just feel like I need to drop a reminder that most of these people probably have no idea that they’re doing anything wrong. Although I’ve always known about the existence of bootlegs, I’d never even heard of anything relating to NFT dates or leaks until this whole “Mean Girls” debacle. I’m sure the same goes for a lot of the (probably young) people who shared the links they found or posted videos on youtube. I get being angry. I get being upset. But can we maybe refrain from screaming that anyone who participated in this (I did not, just fyi, so this isn’t some kind of self-defense post) is a disgrace, is being purposefully disrespectful, and is the scum of the earth? I’ve seen so much animosity from many members of the Broadway/bootleg community and it’s just not a good look. If you know that someone knowingly leaked the video, having full knowledge of what they were doing wrong, get angry, sure.
But I think people have lost sight of the fact that this isn’t some well-known thing, especially for younger fans of shows like “Mean Girls.” I myself had to do some major digging to even find the actual NFT date. Yes, it might be “wrong” of them to have done what they did. But tearing apart people who very well might have not even known what they were doing isn’t the answer.
