Observations on Anjaam (#32):
I already said this but after watching Anjaam and Darr back to back, I choose Anjaam 100%.
What a plot-twist and masterful bait and switch in between genres.
How different the jails are in Anjaam (1994) and Jawan (2023). Makes you think.
What happened to the dancer wife though. I hope she got all his money or ran away with the alimony.
This movie should be mandatory watch for anyone who has ever said "just tell him no, what's the worst thing that can happen". I know it will be flashing through my eyes a lot.
And it made my personal list of the top 10 reasons why I don't go to the club (the other 9 are that I don't like clubs in general).
Chalte Chalte is still more emotionally scarring because there you are supposed to root for srk.
It's so stupid that srk's character did say some right things like "you should divorce your husband if he beats you and you don't have to stay a miserable widow for the rest of your life" but then. dude. a real case of judge them by their actions, not their words.
you all should know that there is a happy song about a group rape. not really sure what that was about.

Very controversial opinion but shahrukh khan and juhi had more chemistry than Shahrukh and kajol. I said what I said.

Some Darr (#31) considerations.
Sunil I hate you. I've hated you since you playfully tried to drown Kiran in that pool. Every action you took since hass shown you for a useless, worthless human being (except for the Goa stuff, that was barely clever).
It's very funny to me personally that SRK is the son of a general (?) in both this movie and Main Hoon Na. But here he is a psychopath, there he is the kindest, puppiest character he has ever played.
The domestic scenes while Kiran and Sunil sing about their little house resembles Are Re Are in Dil To Pagal Hai. Which makes sense since it's the same director.
I wonder if the reason why they went to Switzerland in DDLJ is because they had already scouted the locations for Darr. I mean, doesn’t this look like the cafe where Raj almost steals Simran's photos in DDLJ?
The first half is more victims centric while the second half is very srk centric and he really steals the show. I don't usually cheer for the villains but this time I felt quite conflicted (it doesn't help that Sunil and Kiran are as deep as a pond).
I can see some mannerisms in srk's character that he then also reused in My Name is Khan.
I wonder how they explained Rahul's death. They could have just thrown him in the lake and flown back home I guess.

Disclaimer at the beginning of Baazigar (1993).
This gives me "extremely frustrated customer service person who has had to explain this 100 times before" vibes.

Ahead of seeing Superman tonight, I'm rewatching Superman (1978) and Man of Steel. I have a lot of thoughts on both of them, and if they get coherent, they'll be on this thread.

People are acting like himbo!Clark Kent (aka “actually smart but still awkward, sweet, and hunky”) is new because of MAWS, as though all these versions don’t exist—
He’s almost always portrayed as a big, sweet, lovable guy who can be awkward and nervous just like anybody else but who’s also competent and brave when helping others. That’s just Clark.

was looking at srk's page on letterboxd and it looks like if you take out all the movies that aren't movies (documentaries and early career TV series) and those in which he was the narrator, or himself, or just had a special appearance, and the movies that haven't come out yet, you get to 76 movies (not 120).
i've already watched 30, so i'm 39,4% done with his "official" filmography.
#i'm still going to watch EVERYTHING ELSE because of course#i want to be able to say “i've watched EVERYTHING”#and mean it#but man i want out of those 90s already#srk

Today I watched Dil Aashna Hain, which is my 30th SRK movie!!! I'm now 25% done with his filmography according to Letterboxd. Slowly slowly but we are getting there.
To celebrate this happy milestone I'll be reviewing the movie down the cut. (also because no one seems to have blogged about this movie)
Dil Aashna Hain is Mamma Mia meets the first half of K3G plot wise.
I did not like it. It was too long, there were too many songs. SRK did what he could but not even his presence could save this movie.
I did not like Divya Bharti as the female lead at all. I liked her fine in Deewana, so I really don't know what went wrong with this role in particular.
My favourite part was probably the long flashback of the mothers's youth and the mothers in general, they were so fun and charismatic. And anyway, this is how you do make up to show a character is older/younger than the actor not like with the aunt-like character in Jawan who looked younger than SRK but that's another matter.
Last but not least, in the flashback the Prince was SUCH a creep! He got better with age, I guess?? Just wow.
