Omg wow! Backstory backstory so much backstory I am so excited

New Holby watchers - you will get into it - it takes a good few episodes to get into the swing of things but once you know and understand the characters you appreciate every single little bit of scriptwriting. It’s much more complex and not as clear cut as Casualty episodes so can seem confusing to new watchers. They are also excellent at representation, which Casualty notably can struggle with.

@casual-laurie @oldpalegoth have you seen this?? More character background/development in 2 weeks on Holby than his entire Casualty stint!! 🙊

there was so much sass this episode though? charlie asking jacob ‘are you sure YOU’RE the right person to calm that man down, jacob?’ ethan telling connie to give him a puzzle and stick him in the relatives room max’s 'I was kicked in the balls once before’ and louise’s 'just the once?’ connie saying 'I just got an email-’ and sam replying 'wow, the wonders of modern technology’ and dylan literally fucking dumping sam strachan’s phone in his drink conclusion: death just makes holby ED sassier

30 Days of Casualty

Day 8: Favourite Canon Ship/Romantic Relationship

Dr Dylan Keogh, Consultant & Dr Sam Nicholls, Registrar

A more unusual choice today, and they technically don’t count, as they were separated before Sam even started at Holby, and of course Sam later went on to marry Tom. However, I loved this pairing with all my heart. A tiny part of me will always ship them - the fact poor Dylan left Holby ED until Sam left herself says it all to be honest. They had a very complicated relationship and their storyline was beautifully done by William and Charlotte - there was always an element of mystery behind their marriage - we didn’t know anything, even the timeline of their marriage and separation was a guess but it lead to some brilliant headcanons and beautiful pieces of fanfiction written. I am a firm believer that something terrible happened to them to spark off their marriage troubles, Sam’s issues in the armed forces and Dylan’s former alcoholism. To be honest, Sam’s character was at her best at this point (and seriously spiraled when she was with Tom lol) and Dylan made her GMC storyline even better. The “triangle” between Dylan, Zoe and Sam made brilliant viewing.

I still have so many questions that will never be answered, and that’s what made these two together so great!

and the reality is, with Ethan’s Huntington's disease he is unlikely to ever go on to have children of his own so that’s just an entire family wiped out and gone and he’s on his own :((((

just when I think I’m no longer heartbroken over casualty I remember that Ethan now has no family left at all

To be exact, Charlie has seen twenty-two of his colleagues die, the poor sod

All I could think about during that episode was how over 30 years Charlie has literally seen 90% of his colleagues either die, be attacked or get in accidents how is the man not completely traumatised

It took me until the third time I watched the murder scene until I realised Cal died without knowing Ethan was alright and IT BREAKS ME. 

I can’t with this show

Cal died not knowing whether he stopped Scott and not knowing whether Ethan was safe or dead somewhere and all he wanted was to know Ethan was okay.

And Ethan will never get to say goodbye to his brother and will never get the change to tell him he’s okay.
