It's really hard to keep going sometimes. We, rescuers, often feel like failures. We feel defeated, beaten. Like no matter how hard we work, there will be twice as many to save tomorrow with half as much support. And it's devastating and overwhelming to our spirit.

You think you can't help? We understand that feeling. But every time we get a donation, even if it is one dollar, it is like a megaphone screaming that someone out there believes in our mission, believes these animals are worth it, believes in me. You think your dollar doesn't count, but for me it's evidence that I count, that what I do matters.

I am just trying to remind everyone that we get no government funding or any stipends. While we assist many state agencies we are only funded by the kindness of our friends and followers. With that in mind, I am asking you for a small commitment. Perhaps you could dedicate a cup of coffee a week to us? That's just $20 a month. Or maybe you are doing really well and want to bless us with a little more. We would be so grateful to have some steady and reliable support.

As you can imagine, what I do here is extremely stressful. Even small donations make a huge impact on relieving some of that stress. If you have a little extra you could toss our way, we are still trying to raise funds for our spay and neuter commitments and get some needed items for the rescue. Our goal for these is $476. We'd appreciate the help.

I am including pictures of our litter of kittens. Their mom was dumped when she was 8 days away from having them. They are bringing life and chaos to the rescue and are going to be an excellent army against any mice who get the wrong idea about living here. It's also a good explanation for all the scratches on me and why I look so tired. LoL.

This is really important. Please read the whole thing.

I know most of you have no idea so I just wanted to tell you something that I think needs to be common knowledge.

When a charity is a 501c3, we don't automatically get anything. Not one cent. We don't get government funding like the animal shelter/ humane society gets. We are a public charity not a government agency. Being a 501c3 doesn't automatically win us grant money. We have to beg for it and more often than not still get denied.

Imagine that you work 40 hours a week and every penny you have goes to basic bills, vet bills, animal food, supplies, pet meds. Sometimes you only eat ramen noodles or toast. But that's really all you have time for because you have to clean cages and play areas, answer phone calls inquiring about surrendering babies, phone calls begging for help with emergency care for their babies, and you still have to juggle in the household chores like laundry, dinner, baths, (and God forbid it be lawn care season), take out trash, bring in whatever little shopping you could afford, arrange intake for surrenders and get them checked in, accessed, and make a personalized plan for their care needs. And don't forget to beg for money and get your hopes up so you can be crushed when it gets denied over and over and over again.

We don't get paid to sit around and play with cute fuzzies all day. This job is a calling. It's hard and some days it rips your soul out and grinds you to bits. But you keep doing it. Because it matters. It matters to the families you help. It matters to the animals you save. It matters.

In 6 years of being open I have aided over 2500 animals. It mattered to every one of them.

So when I ask for your help, it may be a public post on Social media but it reached you personally for a reason. You can help.

Desperate plea for help

Hello,

I'm sorry it's long but I need you to read this.

I know everyone gets tired of hearing that nonprofit organizations need donations. We get tired of begging, too. But here is the simple truth, we are not state funded. We rely on amazing people to donate what they can, whether it's $5 or $500. We spend hundreds of hours a month filing for grants that are most likely to be given to "big" charities that already have hundreds of thousands of dollars pouring in each month. I'm not saying they aren't worthy. I'm saying we can't compete with them. They get to pay millions to their CEOs, board of directors, and staff members. We can't pay ours anything and worse we have to ask if they can chip in because the funds to cover bills aren't there.

Our cause is worthy too. Our cause deserves support. I work 24/7 rescuing animals, answering calls and concerns, taking care of the fuzzies in our care, feeding them, making sure they are well and comfortable. Plus I do all the tax papers and reporting we have to do to stay open.

Over 5,000 charities close yearly due to lack of support. Our budget is one of the smallest and we still can't make ends meet. Please help us stay open. There has to be someone to care for these abandoned and discarded animals. Any money I make goes to support it but it's not enough.

So once again, here I am begging. If God/your higher power/your heart moves you to donate, we greatly appreciate it. If He moves you to share, we appreciate that too.

Hi, family and friends,

I deeply appreciate your love and support for me and the rescue. I have updated our app and it has buttons to take you to our brand new Shopify and Avon stores, the ferrets giving tree, and a PDF version of our newsletter.

The Shopify store has a few cool things in it but more will be added over the next few weeks. I'm in classes to learn how to do everything in the store.

The Avon store is not like your grandma's Avon. Everything is so fresh and stylish and these are products that you can trust. My family has trusted and used Avon, probably since it started. We are skin-so-soft addicts. Lol

We are in desperate need of cash flow right now. The bills are piling up and our normal resources have diverted their funds towards Helene and Milton affected areas. If you can donate please do, even if you just scrap together a few bucks from friends, neighbors, and co-workers to send, it seems like a little to you but it's a lot to us.

Ask everyone you know that uses walmart.com to select us as their round up charity. A little change brings big changes.
