ghosthaunt
the way his cheeks redden and he seem so much less experienced in a conversation like this is something that amy hadn’t expected at all,  but she’s so drawn to.  she was willing to give him a chance no matter what because she knows it would be good for her and for her family,  but he’s so much more down to earth than she anticipated.  he seems like a genuinely good person.  she’s more drawn to that than whatever suaveness and confidence,  bordering on arrogance,  one would expect from someone of his position.  brows furrow curiously.  ❝  how so?  i mean,  everyone is capable of screwing up someone’s day,  but to me,  it seems like you could smile at them and make it all better,  ❞  she flirts.  she certainly feels better when he smiles.  ❝  i prefer being called RESOURCEFUL.  which i am,  ❞  she claims with a bright grin,  a playfulness in her gaze.  her brows raise slightly in surprise when he says she seems like a princess,  her own cheeks blushing now as she looks down.  a grin crosses her lips before she looks back up to him to meet his gaze.  ❝  well,  it’s every girl’s dream to be called that,  isn’t it?  ❞  she giggles.  it certainly was HERS.  ❝ thank you,  benjamin.  you’re very kind.  ❞
he opens his mouth to speak,  but when she compliments him,  he only blushes more,  lips immediately pursing together bashfully.  that smile tugs at his lips again and he looks down,  lightly pushing his hair back.  ❝  well,  i guess i’ll always have that defense,  ❞   he mumbles with a soft laugh,  looking back up at her again.  ❝  that’s kind of just my face.  i smile when i’m nervous.  or  --- happy.  or confused.  or,  really,  just, any time,  ❞   he laughs.  ❝  but especially when i’m nervous,  ❞   he admits,  the words spoken slightly quieter as he looks at her.  she makes him nervous,  because he’s never really experienced anything like this before.   he hums,  nodding his head.  ❝  resourceful.  okay,  i like that,  ❞   he encourages.  his face lights up even more when he sees her blush,  taking that as a sign that he’s said something right  ---  even if he was just speaking the truth.  ❝  i don’t really know about other girls.  i just know you seem to fit the role perfectly,  ❞  he insists.

ghosthaunt:   olivia & josh.
❝  do you really think that olivia or are you just saying it to try to make ME think it?  ❞  he asks.  because if she truly does believe that,  then she has far more hope for the situation than josh does.  he thinks this is it.  the closest they were was when they were kids and they’re only going to grow more distant.  his gaze drops down to their hands,  clenching his jaw at the fact that he IS finding comfort in her touch.  ❝  yeah.  but it might change for the better or it might change for the worse.  i don’t want to find out.  ❞  because if things become even WORSE between them,  he won’t be able to bear it.
it’s both,  really.  maybe it’s a little more the latter than anything  ---  but olivia really does WANT to believe it.    ❝  yes.  i do.  it is so easy to hate your sibling right now.  some days i can’t stand jordan,  and some days he’s the only person i want to talk to.  yeah,  i know,  it’s not the same for you and gabe,  but--- think about years from now,  when you’re not living in the same house,  seeing each other every day,  fighting all the time.  don’t you think you’ll just miss him?  or at least the version of him that you weren’t fighting with every day?  ❞  she asks,  hoping that it gives him some sort of perspective.  she frowns,  looking back at him and speaking quieter now.    ❝  i thought you believed it couldn’t get any worse.  what’s it going to hurt?  ❞

ghosthaunt:  judy & amy.
she’s always wanted to be with judy.  it’s always been EASY with her.  it was fun,  she felt free and unburdened when they were together.  she was HAPPY with her.  that was the first and only time she’s ever felt a love like that.  nothing else has ever compared.  being around her again just confirms all of that.  judy still makes her feel that way.  it’s just different now.  she can’t waste her time on something she can’t have in the long run.  (but it’s not entirely her choice;  perhaps if circumstances were different,  she would still be with judy.)  as she makes an assumption about what amy means,  a frown pulls at her lips.  she doesn’t want to have to explain this  —–  that it’s not just about who she can LOVE,  but it’s also about what that person can give to her,  give to her family.  she doesn’t doubt that judy would be able to give her everything she wants,  but it’s still more complicated than that.  socially,  economically,  amy needs what her aunt has TOLD her she needs.  the wellbeing and security of her family rests on her shoulders.  ❝  well…  YES,  but…  ❞  she looks down and shakes her head.  ❝  LOVE and compatibility isn’t…  it’s not the most important thing in who i end up with forever.  it’s important,  yes,  but other things matter too and i can make love happen if i need to.  ❞  her eyes look back up and there’s an expression of reluctance,  SORROW in her gaze.  ❝  my aunt march wouldn’t want this and  —–  after everything she’s given to me,  i can’t do that to her.  i can’t do that to my FAMILY.  ❞
judy becomes more and more nervous as every second that passes.  does she really want to talk this through?  it was so easy to believe that things didn’t work out because of time,  and that that’s why she didn’t need to move on with anyone else.  maybe that was always her leaving the door open for amy,  but she hadn’t realized it until now.  now,  as she waits for amy to answer,  as she waits to figure out whether or not that door should be closed.  it’s so nerve racking,  and judy rarely lets her nerves get the best of her when it comes to matters of the heart like this.  her shoulders deflate the second she hears the word ‘ but, ‘  lips rubbing together.  but her lips fall open when amy gets to the point,  and it’s no longer about judy getting her heart broken again  ---  it’s about amy breaking her own heart.   ❝  you can’t force love,  amy.  you can’t force it to happen when it needs to.  that’s not---  it’s not how it works,  ❞   she insists,  bringing her hand   to rest on amy’s arm.   ❝ amy,  you don’t have to settle for something that’s not right for you just because you think it’s right for someone else.  your aunt,  your family  ---  they love you.  surely they believe you deserve real love, too.  not forced,  not faked,  not convenient  ---  but real.  amy,  you’re the most passionate person i know.  it’s the best part about you.  ❞   she gulps,  pausing for a moment.    ❝  don’t let anyone take that from you.  don’t take it from yourself.  ❞

when will goes to the crm with leo,  he has so many moments where he’s just worried that felix is mad at him for going,  but he hopes he remembers it’s the best solution for all of them,  even if they can’t be together.
when felix said that there’s no one better to protect leo than them and that felix had to stay with the girls,  will just heard him so loudly say “you are the only one i trust to protect my father.”  and beyond already respecting leo and being willing to do whatever for him / to protect him,  he just wanted to show felix that he could be the man felix needed him to be, and that as long as he knew leo was with will, he could (hopefully) find peace in that and just exist and live back at the campus without both of them,  as long as he knew that leo was in good hands --- even if that’s wishful thinking given who felix is.
it really is such a big, defining gesture for will and he has 100% faith that he and leo will return.  the “put your trust in other people, in me” is just really so defining to their relationship.

maggie’s love language is saving mementos to cherish a memory.  if she’s spending time with someone important,  or even just someone she imagines will have some sort of impact on her life in the future no matter how big or small, she will save every little thing.  little notes passed between them,  the ticket stub from a movie,  the receipt from a restaurant,  gifts,  any small knickknack that someone shares with her  (  even if it’s something as simple as a cool rock they found.  )   she just loves having these things and keeping them close and using them to remember people by.
this is especially true when she’s dating someone --- she loves keeping small things from dates to remember them by because she knows she can look back on them and think about that frozen moment in time with that person by her side and what they meant to her / how it went / who she became because of it.
as time goes by, she does part with things, but some things she refuses to get rid of --- like her box of things she either shared with brandon or he gave to her. it’s her most cherished possession and she will never give that up.  he isn’t just her friend that died or the boy she had a baby with —-  she was in love with him,  and he treated her with nothing but love and kindness and though those things are full of sorrow now,  they also still make her smile, and they remind her of who she was / what she had before her life  ( and his life )  took such a dark turn.

ghosthaunt: tracy & klaus.
his head tilts and he thinks over her reasoning and he can’t say it’s a bad point.  preserving the good memories may be better than getting ANSWERS that ruin them.  he can respect that and even agree with it.  ❝  yeah,  that makes sense,  ❞  he nods.  ❝  keep the good memories and screw the bad ones!  he can’t take that away from you!  ❞  and if it helps her,  then she shouldn’t let him.  she deserves any happiness that she can find.  ❝  good,  good,  because i don’t need your attention in other places when you could just be giving it to ME,  ❞  he jokes.  he’ll take all the attention she gives him because he knows it comes from a place of genuine fondness for him,  the same that he feels for her.  they’re truly FRIENDS.  ❝  i mean,  i don’t need a wingwoman,  but i’ll TAKE it!  ❞  he chuckles.  a grin forms on his lips and he raises his brows.  ❝  oh,  yeah,  yeah,  definitely not suitable for the long term,  but for one night?  frat guys do just fine for me,  ❞  he teases,  nudging her playfully.
she offers a small grin,  always content with the way klaus encourages her.  ❝  no,  he can’t.  no one can.  i don’t want to get rid of them either.  ❞   because they were the best time of her life,  and even though it hurts to think about it now,  she’s not giving that up for anything.  she lets out a small laugh and nods.  ❝  then you’re in luck,  ❞   she teases.  her nose crinkles as she thinks it over.  ❝  ---  that may be for the best.  i’m probably bad at that job,  ❞   she thinks.  but she would still do her best for him.  she may be much more open to talking to people if it was for the sake of klaus.  she rolls her eyes,  leaning into him after he nudges her.   ❝  okay,  good. but only for a night.  if you start wearing a fraternity shirt,  i’m kicking you out, ❞  she teases,  grabbing a pillow and lightly tossing it against his chest.  she’s one to talk,  given that she still has one of her own that she can’t bear to get rid of  ---  but that’s why she’s warning him.  it’s too easy to get hooked.

his head shakes and he looks away from aaron.  ❝  i’m FINE,  ❞  he insists.  ❝  you’re the sick one.  ❞  five would rather focus on mending that than deal with his own worries about what happened.  (it’s not that simple,  though.  he can’t get it off his mind.)  five doesn’t want to put him through this again either.  that’s why he’s attempting to remedy how he must feel now.  he presses his lips into a line and pauses before answering.  ❝  i’ve NEVER done it before,  ❞  he admits.  ❝  you’re the first person i’ve ever taken with me.  ❞  and it scared him the moment he pulled them through and was able to take a second to THINK about what he had done.  it was such a risk.  it ended up being worth it,  but he just can’t shake the sick feeling it gives.  ❝  i know what could happen because i know how what i can do WORKS.  my body is made to handle what it goes through to jump from one place to another.  yours isn’t.  ❞  that’s why aaron feels the way he does now.  ❝  and my dad warned me about the risks.  i’ve learned by now that i should listen to him when he warns me about something.  ❞  if he had done that in the first place,  he never would have gotten stuck here.  ❝  i WON’T be doing this again,  ❞  he tells him,  not only to warn him that he won’t be getting them out of situations like that again,  but also for REASSURANCE.  he won’t have to feel like this again and neither will five.  he looks back to aaron when he claims that he’s more than a superhero.  it does matter to him so much that aaron and gracie are his FAMILY.  he needs that. this has all been such a lonely,  traumatic experience,  but they’re making it so bearable.  they’re stopping him from losing it completely, so he appreciates hearing it  —–  appreciates that he belongs here.  ❝  i know, ❞  he promises,  hoping aaron realizes that. he realizes that he’s IMPORTANT here.  ❝  i know you wouldn’t have regretted bringing me here,  but i wouldn’t exactly be keen on the idea of you being limbless because of something i did.  i’m glad it worked out how it did.  ❞  the guilt would have eaten him alive if it didn’t. he already feels guilty about this alone,  but he is trying to keep it in perspective.  his head nods slowly and he looks around the room before back at aaron,  finding a seat next to him on the bed.  ❝  i’d be more inclined to tell you to get some sleep,  but if you’re not going to do that  —–  yeah,  i can make time,  ❞  he agrees.  though,  he wasn’t planning on leaving his side regardless of the invitation.
he scoffs,  small grin tugging at his lips.  ❝  if you think that i’m going to stop worrying about you just because i’m the sick one---   ❞   he can’t finish,  cut off by a cough that makes him lean forward.  he is worried,  because five just did something that is obviously having some sort of effect on him,  at least mentally and likely physically too.  aaron cares about that,  even though he’s hurting now.  five put himself in that position for aaron.  he takes a deep breath and nods his head slowly.  ❝  that’s why i’m asking about you,  bud,  ❞   he speaks quietly.  ❝  i know this wasn’t what you wanted to do.  i know you’re probably worried about what could have happened instead.   and i know you did that it to save me anyway,  ❞   he points out,  his eyes locking with his son’s.  ❝  i’m here,  and i’m alive.  a little rough right now,  but i’m alive.  if you need to talk through what you’re feeling now  .  .  .     we can,  ❞   he encourages.   the ‘ what ifs ‘ didn’t happen,  so if five needs to process them out loud,  aaron isn’t going to discourage it.  his hand reaches over to rest on five’s arm as he hums.  ❝  hey,  ❞   he whispers.  ❝  i don’t want you to do it again.  i’ll never expect you to.  ❞   that’s a burden he would never want on his son’s shoulders.  he shouldn’t have to take such big risks to save him.  aaron should be protecting him.   but still,  he doesn’t want five to ever worry that aaron is expecting anything like this again.  ❝  you did it this time.  you saved my life.  i’m still me,  i’m still here.  you can rest easily knowing that,  at least,  yes?  but that’s it.  it doesn’t happen again.  you don’t have to worry about it again,  ❞  he promises.  he offers a small grin again and nods,  because though he doesn’t say much,  aaron still understands that those words have a lot of weight.   he grunts,  nodding again.  ❝  well,  it’s a good thing we don’t have that to worry about.  ❞   he is trying to remain positive  ---  because that’s just who he is,  and because he needs to combat five’s negativity somehow,  trying to give him some hope.  he brings his hand down to the bed and carefully pushes himself just to prop himself up slightly,  head turning to look at five.  ❝  lucky me, then,  ❞   he grins.  ❝  i’m sorry we got stuck.  seemed like that herd came out of nowhere---  i didn’t even realize how many there were until  .  .  .   well.  ❞

grievousend: rosita & isaias.
The  sentiment  flowed  from  his  lips  without  his  permission.  The  moment  Isaias  had  locked  eyes  with  Rosita,  he  had  known  that  he  was  a  goner.  It  felt  like  a  lifetime  ago  that  he  had  been  young  and  foolishly  in  love.  But  time  and  experience  had  grown  him,  hardened  him.  The  day  she  left  the  quarantine  zone  without  a  word  formed  a  chasm  of  pain  in  his  chest  that  he  didn’t  know  he  could  feel.  Nearly  a  decade  had  passed,  during  which  time,  he  had  to  carry  the  loss  of  his  father  on  his  broad  shoulders.  The  change  in  Isaias  was  palpable  .  .  .  inevitable.  While  he  tried  to  combat  the  natural  pull  toward  her  once  they  were  sheltered  from  the  elements  and  the  infected,  his  heart  still  called  to  hers.
Whatever  they  were  before  she  left,  Isaias  couldn’t  help  but  feel  whole  when  in  her  presence  again.  Holding  Coco  in  his  massive  arms,  he  dipped  his  focus,  lightly  pressing  his  forehead  to  hers  as  an  involuntary  smile  spread  along  his  lips.  He  hadn’t  done  much  of  that  in  the  last  few  years,  but  being  reunited  with  Rosita  and  now  meeting  this  little  angel,  he  couldn’t  help  the  outward  expression  of  contentment.
Shaking  his  head,  she  drew  his  attention  away  from  the  slumbering  babe,  dark  eyes  affixed  to  her  features.          “  A  lot’s  changed,  ma.  I’m  not  who  I  was  and  I  know  you’re  not  either.  But  bein’  here,  with  you  and  Coco    —    I  know  I’ll  never  stop  fightin’.  ”
Turning  away  from  her,  he  carefully  placed  the  baby  in  the  nearby  bassinet  before  crossing  the  floor  toward  her.  She  was  still  the  woman  he  remembered;  a  few  more  edges,  sharper  claws      (  the  better  to  protect  Coco  with  ),      but  the  same  eyes,  the  same  passion.  Massive  mitts  rested  atop  Rosita’s  shoulders  before  delicately  sliding  up  the  sides  of  her  neck.  Thumbs  brushed  the  underside  of  her  jaw  as  he  gazed  at  her,  longing  and  adoration  in  his  eyes.          “  I’ll  be  the  judge  of  that.  ”          Isaias’s  voice  was  naught  but  a  murmur,  merely  enjoying  the  sight  of  her.          “  I’m  yours  to  keep,  Rosita.  World’s  too  fucked  up  to  be  okay  with  giving  you  up  again.  You,  Coco  .  .  .  you’re  my  family  now.  ”
She’s come to understand how many people she’s hurt along her journey.  She didn’t always recognize it,  selfishly focused on what’s ahead of her rather than what she’s leaving behind.  Pain is much more than physical,  and she inflicted it on him more than anyone else.  At the time of her departure,  she spent so much time convincing herself that he didn’t actually love her,  just so that she didn’t have to feel so guilty for leaving him.  But as the years passed,  she was only more and more aware of how wrong she was for leaving.  She still believes she had to go,  for her own sanity  ---  but didn’t he deserve some kind of explanation?  Back then,  she just assumed he would try to talk her out of it.  But now,  she wishes she would have given him that chance.
She’s different now.  Ready,  she thinks,  for whatever it is they can have now.  It won’t be the same as it was back then,  but maybe it an be something better.  Maybe they’re both in different places of their lives and can be stronger together now.  All she knows is that this time,  she’s not walking away from him.  With her daughter,  she has too much to lose  ---  and it already feels like she’s lost so much of it.
Seeing Coco rest peacefully in his arms brings a smile from her,  so tempting to bring her hand over to brush over her hair,  but she doesn’t,  only allowing Isaias his time with her.  Getting to know her,  getting comfortable with her  ---  it seems she’s already warmed up to him too, which only further makes Rosita feel like this is a good idea.  ❝  Yeah,  ❞   she mutters,  smile fading gently as he looks up at him.  ❝  Yeah,  I’m not who I was back then.  I was  .  .  .   a coward,  one who thought she was the very opposite.  ❞   Like she was stronger for leaving,  but no,  she would have been stronger if she faced her feelings.   ❝  I’m not makin’ you fight for me.  I’m here.  Ain’t going anywhere this time,  ❞   she promises him.
As he moves in closer to her,  her hands gently slide to his back,  keeping him close.  Eyes close,  her forehead resting into his as she feels his thumbs against her jaw.  She breathes him in,  finding comfort in the home he’s already provided her within her arms  ---  the home that once felt like a trap,  but she’s come to realize it was only ever her own fear talking.  Not him.  She’s safe with him.  She opens her eyes again,  lips curling slightly into a smile.  ❝  You’re our family, ❞   she whispers,  finding so much comfort in those words.  ❝  I’m sorry,  I---- God,  I’m sorry I couldn’t get my shit together sooner.  ❞   A decade sooner,  though she doesn’t regret where she is now  ---  her daughter,  she wouldn’t trade for anything.  ❝  You call me on it now.  Okay?  Don’t care how stubborn I get  ---  you call me on it.  We talk it out.  I don’t run away,  ❞  she insists.  She wants this to work  ---  not just for herself, but for her daughter.  For him.

undred:  lydia & behati.
lydia  had  become  someone  very  important  to  her .   never  could  replace  her  mother  of  course ,   but  she  loves  her  in  a  very  maternal  way .   never  thought  that  would  be  the  case  when  finding  her  out  in  the  forest   &   there  was  a  part  of  her ,   even  when  bringing  her  to  isadora ,   that  doubted  she  would  stay  for  long .   but  over  time   :   she  had  settled  down  and  she  can  only  hope  that  she  feel  as  welcome  as  she  is .   couldn’t  change  how  the  past  had  treated  her ,   but  she  can  make  a  better  future .   try  to  anyways   &   sometimes  it’s  the  small  things .   checking  out  a  few  things ,   this  time  one  of  the  closest  cottages ,   to  see  if  they’re  still  livable .   still  stocked  up  if  something  would  happen  or  someone  needs  some  time  away .     ❝   sure .   ❞      like  it’s  the  most  natural  thing  in  the  world   &   she  guess  it  is .   hint  of  a  smile  while  showing  the  last  of  clothes  and  food  into  backpack .    ❝   i  know  i  feel  a  little  couped  up  here  sometimes ,   it’s  good  to  get  out ,   and  i  wouldn’t  mind  the  company .   ❞
she never intended to stay here for long  ---  mostly because she didn’t believe she would be able.  they were bound to find something wrong with her eventually,  bound to see that she didn’t belong with them at all.  that,  or she was bound to figure out she didn’t belong with anyone,  anywhere.  she’s still not sure if she’s convinced herself that she does belong here;  all she knows is that behati makes her feel like a living, breathing human being,  and that’s more than she can say for the woman who forced her to walk amongst the dead for a majority of her life.   her fingers pick at the seams of her sweater’s sleeve,  staring down at it for a long moment as she thinks over her words.   she looks up after a moment,  nodding her head.  ❝  i’ve never really felt like that.  not exactly,  ❞   she mumbles.  claustrophobic,  yes,  but not cooped up in one place,  because she never stayed one place for too long.  she thought it might eat away at her,  but it feels much better than expected.  ❝  but  .  .  .    it’d be good to get out.  i don’t want to forget what it’s like out there,  ❞   she admits.  the reality is,  she doesn’t want to pass up the opportunity if behati’s offering,  afraid that she may not ask again.  ❝  yeah.  i’ll go.  ❞

[x]  constantly thinking about hope’s faces in the beginning of this gifset as she’s debating on how to go about this.  because as soon as she confronts huck,  then it’s over  ---  then she actually has to face whatever it is that huck is planning and whatever ‘ safety ‘ that hope may have in the moment will be destroyed.  not only that,  but she has to actually process the fact that she’s about to hold a gun up,  in general,  but especially to the person who has been her confidant, her friend, her role model, her sister for the last year.
huck is the person that hope wanted to be just like,  the person who she trained under and who inspired her and who reached her in a way she wouldn’t allow her own family to do  (  and all of that that hope appreciated so much and was so greatly impacted by was,  of course,  heavily calculated by huck.  )  to know that person has betrayed her and that all that she felt for her may not be returned / real is so terrifying.
huck is one of the most vital people in hope’s life and it all came crashing down in an instant  ---  and now,  despite all that personal pain,  she’s not even really thinking about herself,  she’s just trying to get her away from her sister and brother.  because she feels like she is the reason huck is doing whatever she’s doing,  so there’s no reason her siblings need to be involved and she believes it’s up to her to save + protect them.
her shaky hands,  the way she looks at the ground the second she holds the gun up  ---  she doesn’t want to do this.  she’s so scared.  she didn’t even want to say anything to her,  she just silently hoped that huck would turn around and the confrontation would come to her instead,  because she had no where to begin.
also the way that huck just .  .  .   isn’t phased.  she just gives an annoyed look back at her.  she’s still playing her role and she’s doing it well,  even though it’s clear hope knows something  (  if not everything.  )  part of huck always knew there was a chance that hope would find out  ---  she’s smart + intuitive as hell and that’s the very reason she’s in this position to begin with.  but huck has to play her cool to keep her on her side despite knowing that her plan is crumbling around her,  and she can no longer do this in a friendly way,  or in a way that frames it as hope’s plan and choice (  which is what was vital all along.  )  she now has to take a different approach and it’s not the one she wanted to take with hope,  because she does genuinely care about her and want the best for her.  they just don’t have the same idea of what ‘ the best ‘ is.
