i can pretend that this is inspired by william blake’s great red dragon pieces all i want but honestly sometimes you just draw an ass and want to show it off and that’s okay. it’s for emotional support.

My favorite kiss in all of media is when Elisa finally kisses Goliath in the season two finale of Gargoyles, because it is completely motivated by the plot. Their relationship has been built over sixty-five episodes, aligned with a parallel arc in which whatever love Goliath once had for Demona deteriorates as her behavior grows more egregious and he realizes he cannot save her. In the finale, that love is irreparably shattered after she is willing to go scorched earth—not just killing all life on Earth, not just killing herself or even Goliath, but their daughter as well. This confirms that the woman he once loved is truly gone and frees him to pursue a relationship with Elisa.
So, in addition to the gradual build-up across those 65 episodes—showing Goliath and Elisa growing closer while Demona slips further and further into irredeemable territory—when the kiss finally happens, it feels perfect. The consummation of Goliath and Elisa as a couple makes complete sense. It’s the antithesis of fandom shipping: not self-indulgent, not a self-insertion fantasy, but something entirely earned, driven by the story, and true to the characters.

I loved when “Drift Compatible” entered pop lexicon cause we were in DESPERATE need for a way to platonically express “one of us to the other is as a limb to a body; we are a left and right feet of a dancer; we do not need to speak because any one word inspires an exchange of unspoken words that conveys a full conversation in which a mutual conclusion is determined in an instant”. Huge win for the QPRs out here

PSA: AO3 HAS BEEN INFECTED WITH AI BOT COMMENTS.
Have you seen one of these dipshits? If you post regularly on ao3, chances are YES, but more likely you didn't notice nor suspect it was a bot. Sometimes they start off nice, or even praise you before getting nasty out of nowhere, like so:

But much like Grok, their newest obsession is nazism.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I don't know where they come from, or what purpose this could possibly serve other than suicidebaiting random people in the internet, I guess; but apparently they've started parroting names from real users to send these comments and shifting their general length to go by undetected. Maybe those are scrappers trying to train 'reviewbots' to be sold as part of some scam service promising to give feedback for newbie writers, who the fuck knows.
Here are more examples of the tone and backhanded compliments you can find in these:

If you regularly post on AO3 or interact with writers in it, please pass this along so they don't feel insane receiving bombs in their inbox. This is ridiculous.

To a homophobe, even the most chaste kiss on the cheek between gay people is exactly as disgusting and degenerate as a hardcore BDSM orgy hosted in the town square, so you may as well ally with the BDSM orgy enthusiasts to throw bricks at the cops who are going to try and arrest all of you together anyway.

Just lost a few braincells reading an nyt article about gen z "treat culture" and I can't even fathom that this is a thing. We're living in a dystopian hellscape where someone spending $5 a week on a cookie is considered a wasteful brat because they should have just gone for a nice free walk instead and saved the $250 a year that roughly equals four days' rent. That's why these ungrateful kids can't buy a house, naturally.
I am ALL for free treats, like hiking or reading in the park. But at some point you can't budget your way out of poverty, and you will literally go mad if you deny yourself basic pleasures that are literally all around you. They even lamented that little treats could snowball into doing something absolutely unforgivable like learning how to play the guitar or buying concert tickets.
At what point do we just start saying out loud that living an enjoyable and fulfilling life is now only acceptable at a 100k+ salary, and if you're one of the millions of people unlucky enough not to be in that category you should just eat dirt and be grateful?
