A YEAR IN DORAMAWORLD

I would like to do a rundown of the dramas I watched this year.There were still dramas on my lists that I might marathon next year.

Many of these dramas are pretty underrated but I do think they deserved so much recognition.These dramas are my personal faves and I love the plot and the portrayal of the actors.

I watched plenty of Cdramas this year.Thanks to a VIP subscription which is about to expire next month I've got many options to choose from.Heheee.

There were dramas and movies that I haven't included in the list since I forget the exact title.

I forget to write Lee Jun Ki and Moon Chae Won's suspense drama this year.It was a very thrilling story though and plausible acting performance from the cast.

There were also short movies this year that I binged watch on but English subs are not available.

I want to end this post with a heartfelt and sincerest thanks to everyone who made my year extra special.I shed so many tears dealing with my problems in reality.But watching dramas has somewhat ease that pain I had and forget those worries for a little while.

I also just started this blog and wanted share my love for dramas. Hoping for a wonderful awesome next year and for people to know my blog too.hehee. Looking forward to an exciting new year in doramaworld.

I FELL IN LOVE BY ACCIDENT ❤

A very short yet sweet drama that tackles issues about real life relationships between couples.Evan is a workaholic who works in a big company as a successful Creative Director who has no time for love and relationships.He agreed to seek help from a relationship counselor and choose An Ran to give him dating and relationship tips and advices.He fell in love with her and pursued her.

Meanwhile An Ran having suffered from her parent's divorce was reluctant to start a relationship with Evan.But he won her by his sincerity.

It was quite short but it talked about the basic issues between couples. The difference in personality and values could also affect the relationship.Love alone is not enough to maintain a relationship.But mutual trust and respect for each other is needed.

Everyone Wants to Meet You

I am definitely a fan of this drama.The plot is new to me. Zhang Min all his life lived a double identity one as Tao Lun the heir of a big company and as Zhang Min the doting son.

All his life he was deprived of his right to pursue what he wants. Not until he met Lou Xi a strong independent girl who was like a ball of sunshine into his gloomy life.

I would say Zhang Min's character was pretty selfless in the sense that he choose to take responsibilty of his mother's mistake in the past when she lost the real Tao Lun. Even if he was raised by his biological dad who was also Tao Lun's father he didn't receive much love from him.Zhang Min loved Tao Lun's mother as his own and never get to spend time with his real mother.He couldn't tell the world his real identity.

Lou Xi was an orphan who lived a simple life and it so happened that his childhood friend was Tao Lun who lost his memories when he was younger and unaware that his parents were looking for him for a long time.What a small world.

It wasn't easy for Lou Xi and Zhang Min to be together.Their torn by duties and responsibilities. But fate always brought them together.

They both deserved that happy ending because their characters went through a lot of hardships.

Zhang Zhe Han is undeniably a very good actor and Zhang Rou Nan showed so much potential and I loved her.Their chemistry was off charts.

I had no idea Riley Wang speaks fluent English and he was the kind caring Tao Lun. The very reason why Liu We Na was so infatuated with him.

The remaining episodes were draggy and the ending was a bit rushed.I wanted to see more of their life together.

Overall this is a must watch drama for 2020

FAH MEE TAWAN

My fave couple Khun Nai and Khun Paul

I took a long break from thai dramas.After I saw the trailer I told myself I should watch this drama before the year ends.Aside that it is giving me the Innocent Man vibes, I am more thrilled to see the portrayal of the actors.

It would have been good if Khun Paul revealed his identity to the public as Khun Poramee before his enemies found out the truth. Hiding his identity for a long time made his father misunderstood his real intention and giving his opponents the chance to hurt him and get rid of him.

So Khun Paul hid his true identity as Khun Paramee's son the owner of Crown Diamond one of the biggest jewelry company in the country.Paramee is the head of the Suriyakan household.

Khun Paul who's real name is Khun Poramee Suriyakan was abandoned by his father to be with Khun Net the woman he was so fascinated about and betrayed his wife and son.He learned that his father chooses his new family over them and even had a new child named Khun Nai.

Hurt by her father's selfish actions,Khun Paul and her mother went to Hong Kong with the help of Ken Yang the man who raised him as his own son.

Khun Ken promised his late mother that he would look after Khun Paul.

Years later,Khun Paul then went to Thailand to avenge his mother.He hid his identity and met Khun Net the woman who took everything from him.He deceived her and make her fall in love with him.

He started working in Crown Diamond with the help of Khun Net.But it wasn't smooth sailing he has to face Khun Nai the adopted daughter of Khun Poramee. Seeing how Khun Paramee treat Khun Nai so well and forget about his own son,angered Khun Paul even more.

But what is even more shocking is that Khun Net lied to Khun Nai that he saved her and wanted to adopt her well in fact she is responsible for the loss of Khun Nai' s parents because of an accident that happened years ago.Khun Paramee was also accountable and to to redeem their mistake they raised her as their own daughter.

Khun Nai grew up to be a kind and filial child.It took her so long to realize that Khun Net never cared for her.

Khun Net never truly loved anyone and continues to aspire for things that were never hers. She used Khun Singkorn as a tool to achieve her wicked plans.

Meanwhile,Khun Paul realized that Khun Nai is not the person he thinks she is. He later found out that she was also suffering and wanted to help her.They have risked their lives to protect each other.

As they always say good things happen to good people.The truth prevailed in the end and people who have done wrong received the consequences of their actions.

Doctor Shane and Khun Pat deserved the credits too for helping their friends out in times of trouble.

I just don't understand why the innocent people have to sacrificed their lives especially Khun Ken.

The ending was a bit rushed I hope they showed us more about the life of Nai and Paul.

All praises for the actors for their excellent portrayal.I feel the angst and excitement while watching it.I loved the chemistry between the leads.

Donut and Prapye were perfect for their roles and I wished they worked again in another drama.pretty pleasee!!!!!

One of my fave thai dramas was Game Sanaeha 2018 but Fah Mee Tawan will probably be one of my faves this year ❤.

Lu Faning and Ling Rui CP 😍

Begin Again is a very sweet story and pretty hilarious.Zhou Yutong pulled off Lu Faning's character very well.She and Simon Gong shared a very natural chemistry together playing husband and wife.

Faning can be very domineering but she gave her best to achieve her goals.Ling Rui changed her and turned her to be a very warm loving person.

They have a very happy and lovely family.

Fast forward to 6 years....

Years passed. Cai Siyu is now a novelist writing romantic stories while Yiyao has stepped down from his position in a big company.

This time around Lu Yiyao took the initiative to pursue Cai Siyu and he realized how much he have hurt her.But Siyu learned her lesson and wants him to prove his love.

Siyu wrote her novels based on her own experience and Yiyao believed that the male lead's character is exactly like him.He voluntereed to help her find inspiration for her novel.

As Siyu still refused to give in to Lu Yiyao,He waited for her in the pouring rain and asked her to be his girlfriend.She happily agreed and are now together.

He wants to marry Siyu pretty soon but she refused him a couple of times. He proposed to her in a very silly way and gave her a ring.I believed they were both together in the end ❤.

BEGIN AGAIN

I am loving this tandem so far. Their first meeting was very special.Cai Siyu is an entertainment reporter who happens to know the reason behind the arranged marriage of Lu Faning and Ling Rui.She later befriended Faning and even gave her some relationship advices.

Faning worried that her secret will be revealed to the public offered Cai Siyu to worked in her company.

Not only did Siyu found a new job but ended up crushing on Lu Yiyao the cold,arrogant and tall man who happens to be Faning's little uncle.They were not biologically related since Yiyao was adopted by the Lu Family when he was a kid.

Yiyao had some issues though and he even cancelled his engagement with his former fiancee because he know she deserved someone better.

Siyu successfully suceeded in pursuing Lu Yiyao and both are now in relationship.She was truly aware that Yiyao never truly liked her but she tried everything to win his heart.

Yiyao learned about the tape recorder the only evidence that stores Faning's little secret.Conflict arises when Cai Siyu realized that all along Lu Yiyao admired Faning and hid those feelings for years.

I feel sorry for Cai Siyu as she bravely told Yiyao she will still accept him after knowing the truth.It must be very hard that her love was never reciprocated.

Cai Siyu then saw Yiyao meeting up with an investor to settle with some business matters. She then helped Yiyao and both got drunk and spend the night together.They have not met since then.

PERFECT AND CASUAL

A very short yet sweet drama

Yun Shu and Zhan Sinian CP

Yun shu: "Do you think your life is perfect Mr.Zhang?

Zhang Zinian:"If without you Ms. Casual my life can't be perfect."

If you're up for a lighthearted and sweet drama then this one is for you.I binge watched on this for a few days. I loved the pacing of the drama no draggy scenes.Except for the ending which was a bit rushed.

I got to learn from Yun shu like me who had no experience in love.HAHHAAAA.Kidding aside.

Zhang Lǎoshī is way too perfect and he has it all the looks and the brains. But he lacks sense of humor and is too straightforward.He even calculated scientifically the progress in their relationship. Who would even do that in reality?Still he is a loyal and reliable man.

Yunshu might be the total opposite but her warmth and kindness were admired by many. They don't share the same interests but were still made for each other.

Now I understand why people say that opposites do attract. If two people are exactly the same they are like parallel lines they would never cross or intersect.

Yiyi and Li Nou CP

I enjoyed this tandem too.So both of them were best of friends who broke up twice already in the drama.

Yiyi can be very demanding and she was having a hard time to move on from her previous relationship.But through the good and the bad she is always there especially for Yun Shu.

Li Nou is a nice and kind man.He admires Yiyi from afar and is her knight and shining armor.But by the time they rekindle their romance the second time,Yiyi has still not moved on from Gu Xiao and he was kinda like the rebound guy.Poor him but Yiyi realized her mistakes and is trying to win him back.

They both don't share the same values and have different plans in life so it didn't work the second time around.

Li Nou flew to Africa and Yiyi plans to accompany him very soon.It was kinda open ended for them both.But I really hope they would work on their differences and learn from their previous relationships.

Yun Lan and Lu Yu CP

Lu You is willing to sacrifice his career to be with Yun Lan.But their jobs keeps them apart.

One is under the spotlight being a huge superstar and the other one living a lowkey life being a hardworking lawyer.In the end they both are expecting a child and I probably think this will soon lead to marriage.

This drama showed so many phases and kinds of love.But I know reality can be harsh and like everyone else we wished to have a long lasting love with someone.

OH MY SWEET LIAR

Li Hong Bin and Xiong Xi Rou went both great lengths to protect a lie and fight for their love.

Xi Rou impressed the Li Family not only with her incredible talent in painting but with her good character and loyalty.

Despite finding out about the truth, Hong Bin wanted to marry Xi Rou for real.

They could have confessed earlier but maybe because that was the key point in the story.One small lie turned out to be a bigger one.

Xi Rou indeed was thrown out of the palace while Hong Bin was away. But when he look for her, She shared to him a good news.This time around she is carrying his child.

Li Jing Rou conspired with Song Zhi to earn his title back and be the Emperor while Song Zhi wants the Yun Iron Mineral Map the most valuable treasure of the Li Family.

In the end goodness prevailed.The chaos ended.

Song Qin and Jing You who were both like cats and dogs have now finally settled down.

Ye Zhi Han and Ning Xin are now expecting another set of twins.Ning Xin came from a noble family.

Xirou together with the three young descendants of the Li Family uncover the truth of the four arhats and also found the mastermind behind all of this.

Xirou and Hong Bin have an adorable daughter who will surely inherit the wits and talents of her parents.

The Sleepless Princess                         (2020)

This is a sleeping beauty like tale of a princess named Chuyue who fell under a spell but with a twist. This adorable princess was rescued by the dashing General Xue Yao.

Princess Chuyue acquired a very special ability to predict the future with the help of a birthstone that she accidentally got inside of her when she was still a child.Because of this precious birthstone she has been the main target of the assasins.

However,this supernatural ability also has it's own perks. This beautiful princess will transform into an animal creature based on the 12 earthly branches.She should avoid sleeping during the forbidden time or else her dreams will turn into reality.

She hid in Gouxi Pavillion during her strange transformation and her personal maid named Tao Yao and her little brother named Xu Xingchen commonly called as Prince Shun would look after her.

Chuyue's father was the original owner of the birthstone and worked for the Emperor. After his death, the emperor raised Chuyue as her own daughter and became a princess and like her father he wanted her to predict the future for him.

                                          General Xue Yao is in love...

The country of Nansang is protected under the military rule of General Xue Yao His brother former General Xue Mu was believed to be killed during the war. General Xue however refuted this and thinks someone plotted his brother's death and the Emperor might be involved in some sort of conspiracy.

On the other hand,the Emperor who raised Chuyue ordered General Xue Yao to marry the princess after Marquis Beize refused to marry her daughter.

The General himself is reluctant to marry the princess thinking he might be a spy sent by the Emperor but he couldn't defy his orders.

The sleeping princess married the General but Prince Shun wanted to take her back worried of her sister’s unconscious state.

Prince Shun silently admired the princess but he realized that it was wrong to love her even if they weren't biologically related and soon found out that the Princess has fallen in love with someone else.

                         Chuyue confessed everything to  Xue Yao

The princess and the General both started at the wrong foot but having spent a lot of time of together they learn more about each other.

They slowly began to trust each other and eventually fell in love. Chuyue would sleep soundly at night with the general beside him. The princess even won the heart of Xue Yao’s aunt and was even reluctant to see her leave the mansion.

         General Xue bravely saved his wife from all of the flying bullets.

However, there have been countless attempts to assassinate the princess but with General Xue Yao by his side no one can harm the princess. Their main goal was to stole the birthstone that the princess had.

But with so many lies and deceit they decided to let go of each other.

Xue Yao learned that her brother once cared for the princess and even wrote her stories. Her brother died protecting Chuyue because of a fire that erupted in the temple. The princess was even unaware of it.

Unaware that the princess have fallen in love with the general,the emperor ordered them to divorce since he had other plans for her.

                                                Infanta of Xizhao

Naxi's appearance was very timely.She is the only Infanta of Xizhao who happens to met General Xue Yao during the war.

Naxi befriended Chuyue but betrayed her in the end. She earned her trust and even wanted the General to feel sorry for her after saving him in the past.

The truth is,She and her brother were slaves and the King of Xizhao never acknowledged them as his children.In order to avenge this cruelty, they planned to overthrow the king and owned the city. Later,Xue Yao found out the truth and how Naxi intentionally wanted the wolf to bit her and had that scar on her arm.

When Naxi came to Nansang she saved Chuyue and got wounded and the princess later found out the other scars Naxi had and feel indebted towards her especially for saving the General.She planned to silently help Naxi heal her scars fast by letting her sleep for a long time.

Meanwhile a man named Dongshi earned the trust of the king and owns a traditonal medicine shop. One time, Chuyue seeks for his help to recommend her some medicine that would allow a person to sleep for a long time. As part of his evil plan, Chuyue handed Infanta a wrong pill and Dongsi held the princess accountable.

Chuyue was imprisoned for what happened.Infanta almost lost her life.But with Dongshi's little trick she finally woke up. To keep the peace between Nansang and Xizhao and to maintain the business deal,Infanta asked the Emperor to grant her request and that is to marry General Xue Yao.

They both had a grand wedding and sadly Princess Chuyue witnessed all of this.She planned to give up on Xue Yao who once promised her that he will never marry Infanta.

                                         They are finally together!!!

With a turn of events the General finally convinced Naxi to divorced him and even marry Chuyue in the end.

A traitor came to work in  the palace and it happens to be Dongshi the man who fell in love with Princess Fei who is now a cold corpse.He wants to stole the birthstone to revive her life.

The moment of truth arrived, Dongshi killed General Xue Mu the night he rescued Princess Chuyue in the temple.He instigated the assassination.

Dongshi planned to destroy the whole country of Nansang.

But with Chuyue's special ability and with the help of the birthstone allowed her to reverse the future and saved the people she loved.

However,this might be her last chance.After so many turmoil,the sleeping princess is now in a deep slumber.General Xue Yao would bring her around town and tells her stories.

This might be a sad ending for the both of them but their kindness and loyalty will never ever be forgotten. They both were the key to help General Xue and Princess Chuyue  attain  their happily ever after.I wanted to ship them both too. General Xue Mu made my heart flutter.

EPILOGUE

The epilogue was a happy ending and satisfying.

The side couples Nan Nan and Louji were having fun playing games with Prince Ning and Infanta who is now expecting their first child.

            The sleeping princess is now awoken by a true love's kiss.

The princess and the prince went on a short trip and entrusted Prince Shun to look after their son.

The chemistry is on point.I loved how natural the actors are and they were very versatile.I was smiling from ear to ear everytime I see them together.

The soundtrack is definitely a plus .A 36 episode drama might be too long but I am not complaining.

I would probably love seeing the Zheng Yecheng and Hu YiXuan in a modern drama together.

WATASHI WA DOUKA SHITEIRU                            (jdrama)

(Spoilers ahead)

A short drama with only 8 episodes starring Ryusei Yokohama (Takatsuki Tsubaki) and Miname Hamabe(Hanaoka Nao) who are both childhood sweethearts.

Nao and her mother(Okada Yuriko) used to lived in Kougetsuan and the latter work there as a confectioner. Takatsuki Itsuki is the son of the master and the only inheritor of the Kougetsuan shop that sells traditional Japanese sweets.

When Tsubaki met the young Nao he prefers calling her "Sakura" instead of her real name. They both enjoyed making sweets together and having stayed in Kougetsuan, Nao learned not only the art of making sweets and delicacies but she found a new home.

But not all things go as planned. An unfortunate incident happened,Nao saw the unconscious body of Itsuki lying on the cold floor and Tsubaki holding a bloody knife and when authorities arrived in the scene Tsubaki pointed Yuriko as the culprit. Since then Nao developed a phobia or even feared anything that is red in color. Her mother was accused because of the fingerprints found on the knife and unfortunately passed away losing any chance to clear her name. Nao vanished from Kougetsuan and was sent to the orphanage.

Years have passed and Nao having inherited her mom's incredible talent, Now works in a confectionary shop and one of her customers who later became one of her good friends invited her to make the sweets for her wedding. It so happened that there was a competition in which Kougetsuan is also part of. At first,Nao was hesitant to join the competition.

Suddenly a stranger appeared and handed her a letter from her mother claiming her innocence.

The stranger is no other than Kaoru Takigawa who helped Nao hid her identity and even asked for Yuko Miyabe's help to pose as Nao's mother.

Nao who was recently fired from her job and after reading her mother's confession motivated her to join the competition. 

Tsubaki now the heir of Kougetsuan met Nao who had no idea that she was her childhood friend.

For this competition, Kougetsuan won but Nao won praises for her work as well. Tsubaki was seemingly impressed and probably was drawn to her. What is even more shocking is that he offered Nao to marry him after the competition.

Nao determined to prove her mother's innocence willingly agreed to his offer

On the other hand, Tsubaki wanted Nao's help to stop an arranged marriage and to gain more knowledge in confectionary making.

Tsubaki was set to marry Shiori Hase who was the daughter of a well known family. There marriage was part of a business deal.

Nao finally set foot in Kougetsuan after 15 long years.

Kougetsuan the very place who stole her mother and her dreams.

As promised, Nao helped Tsubaki to stop the wedding and she packed her belongings and willingly agreed to move in his home.

But Kyoko(Tsubaki's mother) gave Nao a cold shoulder and wanted her out of the house. She would sing verses in the middle of the night and uses underhand tactics for personal gain.

During her stay in Kougetsuan, Tsubaki and Nao learned to rely on each other and help each other in running the shop.

The lovely pair both help Jojima who once made Shimaya warabi mochi with his father. 

Jojima met Tsubaki a few years ago during a fair and mistakenly thought he ruined their sweets a few years ago. But it was Kyoko who was behind all of this. Nao's kindness moved him and he finally learned to let go of his hatred towards Tsubaki. The warabi mochi is now one of the best selling Japanese sweets in their shop.

Nao and Tsubaki may have grown to hate each other because of what happened in the past but their love was able to conquer all of that. They could no longer hide their feelings and they did fall in love. Tsubaki told her about Sakura and he wanted to believe Nao that he was not his childhood friend. They both spend the night together.

What could have been a fake relationship turns out to be real. Tsubaki wished to marry Nao for real.

However, one big revelation is gonna ruin their newfound happiness. As Nao was investigating the incident, she found letters and a paternity test result. This was a huge surprise that even Tsubaki is not even aware about.

Yuriko and Itsuki were lovers in the past. They were together even before he was arranged to marry Kyoko. They were both married in paper but never acted as a couple.

Itsuki soon found out that Yuriko was carrying his child which is Nao.

In the previous episodes it was emphasized that Tsubaki all his life wanted to win his grandfather's trust and approval. 

On the other other note,Nao made a firefly confectionary and the grand master had the chance to taste it.He was so delighted because he have tried a similar one before.He realized that Itsuki his son also made the same sweet that only a true Kougestuan heir can make.

Before the real culprit was found Nao kept this as a secret and even hid her pregnancy.

On the night of the Twilight Tea Ceremony, the grand master drafted a will and the only heir to Kougestuan is Itsuki's natural descendant. Kyoko found out about this and was so furious refusing to help the old man who was ill.

Kyoko and Nao had a confrontation and Tsubaki overheard the conversation between the two. He felt betrayed that he trusted her and was even unware of her pregnancy. 

Suddenly a fire happened and he was trapped inside but Shiori came to the rescue and earned Tsubaki’s favor.

After the incident, Tsubaki and Nao never had the chance to mend their relationship and went separate ways,

Years after, Nao opened her own confectionary shop with the help of Takigawa.

Shiori refused to marry a new man and decided to runaway from home and worked in Kougestuan. She was so infatuated with Tsubaki even lying to her parents that she is carrying his child when in fact Tsubaki never really liked her.

Later Tsubaki found out about Nao's pregnancy but it was too late, they lost their baby because of the fire accident.

His grandfather is sick and Tsubaki is diagnosed with an eye problem.

The very reason why Nao wanted to inherit Kougetsuan as soon as possible was for Tsubaki to rest and do the eye surgery.

Tsubaki have served Kougetsuan for so long that he never had any chance to pursue what he wanted.  

The Grand Master wanted to choose between Nao and Tusbaki to be the next heir of Kougetsuan. To make things fair,he prepared a competition but with a twist. He asked both of them to prepare their own sweets and whoever wins will be the next heir. 

He called Kyoko and asked her to choose which of the sweets is the best. Unaware of what Tsubaki made she picked the one made by Nao.

The tables have turned now and She was so enraged of the result.

Meanwhile, there was another one big surprise that shooked everyone. Kyoko after marrying Itsuki found out that he was still in love with Yuriko. To win him back she had an affair with a a married man who happens to be Takigawa's father. She bore him a child and was raised as Itsuki's son. Yes,Tsubaki and Takigawa are half-brothers.

Takigawa found out about his father’s affair decided to visit Kyoko on the night of the incident but Itsuki stopped him and accidentally stabbed him. He flee away from the scene and Kyoko intentionally replaced the weapon with Yuriko's  own knife and had the perfect alibi with the help of Tsubaki. The little Tsubaki saw that Yuriko was the last person he saw with his father.  

Takigawa finally surrendered but it was very sad because Nao could no longer have the chance to have a complete family.Same goes with Tsubaki,The only redemption his mom did was when she donated her eyes for Tsubaki's surgery.

It must be hard to be trapped in a loveless marriage but ruining someone's family is never an option.

                           Shiori and Jojima ended up together

Finally Nao became the heir of Kougetsuan. She is no doubt the daughter of a master having showed exemplary skills in confectionary making. She overcome her fears  made her own delicious sweets.

Tsubaki returned and they shared a very sweet kiss. The curse in Kougetsuan is now broken.  

I want to see their future family and their cute little babies together. For them to live a happy life that they both deserved.

Overall this drama is well written with a lot of shocking revelations. Yokohama Ryusei looks good in every angle and Miname Hamabe is also very pretty .They both are very good actors.

The first J-drama I saw with this kind of theme was Kyoto Love Story that aired a few years ago. This one deals with revenge and betrayal. The mouth watering delicacies are such a masterpiece .The savory sweets were made from the heart and rich in Japanese culture. The scenery is breathtaking.
