Instagram as a shopping platform?
Nowadays it is common practice to open your laptop or turn on your mobile phone and shop online anytime, anywhere. This trade on the net has increased very strongly in recent years. It is now even possible to shop on well-known platforms such as Instagram. If you see an outfit on a picture that you like and if this outfit is linked there, you can get to this outfit with only one click. Currently, a check-out function is being tested in the USA,(https://www.bigcommerce.com/blog/instagram-checkout/#why-checkout-on-instagram-why-now) which allows you to stay on Instagram until the payment process. This increases the purchase rate enormously, because redirecting to other sites usually leads the user to cancel the purchase process.  About 80 percent of the users on Instagram already follow an account for active shopping and 200 million users visit a business profile every day (https://blog.hubspot.com/marketing/selling-on-instagram). This allows retailers to encourage customers to make a purchase that they weren't even looking for. By improving Instagram, it is now easy for companies to link their products to the photos.

This feature also enables companies to turn their followers into active customers. The app also offers the possibility of different analyses for the posts with shopping possibility. One of these is that the companies can see how many people have seen the post or how many have clicked through the product offer. This has the advantage that the companies can see at which times of the day the users are most active and at which point of the purchase process the customers change their mind. This should help to optimize the purchase process and the marketing. This concept of online shopping through Instagram seems to be working well. 75 percent of users say they become active after seeing a shopping post, by exploring the site or telling friends about it. 60 percent of the users claim to have become aware of new products through Instagram that they did not know before (https://www.bigcommerce.com/blog/instagram-shopping/#instagram-statistics-businesses-should-know). With the growth of online shopping and the increasing number of potential customers using Instagram, it will become more and more important for companies to offer and promote their products through platforms like Instagram.

Platforms that you should keep an eye on!
Which platforms come to your mind first in connection with social media?Instagram, Facebook and Snapchat?Me too. These are the social media channels which are mostly associated with platforms in the B2C area. In the B2B platform this is usually LinkedIn or Xing. Despite this general awareness, it is difficult for these platforms to remain leaders in the market and continue to grow. One example is Facebook. More and more young users are choosing other platforms and are no longer registering with Facebook, as was the case a few years ago. This generation rather decides for the so-called platform "TickTok".  In 2016 this platform was founded in China and since 2019 it has been increasingly used. This platform is about lip-syncing music videos.
Currently, this platform has 500 million users worldwide (https://www.theleftbank.edu.au/blog/what-is-tik-tok-and-should-it-be-part-of-your-digital-marketing-strategy/). In comparison: Instagram has one billion active users per month. So TikTok is not lagging behind at all.

But is this platform worthwhile for digital marketing? Especially for B2C customers this platform offers great new marketing opportunities. Because it is precisely here that the younger customer group under the age of 23 years is reached, which is no longer found on the familiar everyday platforms. In China, Chinese and Western brands are already trying out different communication and cooperation approaches. A good example that this platform is suitable for digital marketing is Adidas Neo. This brand creates short videos for TikTok with celebrities. This has already brought the account over one million followers (https://blog.sociallyin.com/tiktok-marketing). In order to be successful as a company on TikTok, it is important to take a close look at the content and users. TikTok is a rapidly changing platform, which means companies need to react quickly. This is where so-called real-time marketing comes into play. In order for the users to watch the videos of the companies, the first three seconds in particular are decisive as to whether the user will continue watching or not.
For Tiktok there is still no formula for success. Companies still have to try out a lot here and see how the tools work. The advantage, however, is that TikTok is still relatively inexpensive compared to other platforms for advertising or cooperation. So if you recognize the opportunities offered by TikTok early on, you can retain users in the long term. So don't hesitate, download the app and form your own opinion.

Social media trend in 2020: detoxification of social media?
Detox in terms of diet or in terms of alcohol seems familiar to you, but in terms of social media never heard? Then you are in the right place! Because the so-called detox of social media is gaining more and more popularity. What does social media detox mean?  This is a certain time in which one abstains from a certain substance. With regard to social media it is about reducing your screen time.
Social media plays a crucial role in many ways. For companies to reach their customers and identify their needs and and in everyday life to stay in touch with friends and to keep up with the latest trends. In the whole world 3,848 billion people use social media (https://www.smartinsights.com/social-media-marketing/social-media-strategy/social-media-marketing-trends-2020/) and for most of them it is an indispensable daily companion. The latest trend, however, is the detoxification of social media. Unimaginable for you? For me too! Nevertheless, more and more people are deleting their online profiles and apps. Approximately six percent of the users have deleted the apps from their mobile phones, another six percent have permanently deleted their account in the respective app and a full eight percent have deleted their account and the app(https://www.smartinsights.com/social-media-marketing/social-media-strategy/social-media-marketing-trends-2020/).  This raises the question why more and more people delete their social media accounts when social media has such a large presence nowadays. The main reason is that people feel overburdened by the many influences that social media gives. Especially the mental health and the own well-being can be strongly affected by social media.Nowadays the importance of health and well-being in one's own body is becoming more and more important. However, social media can have negative effects on health, private life and one's own emotions.  Another reason to deactivate social media is the lack of trust in the apps and the issue of privacy. In order to take better care of themselves, many do a digital detox.

(smartinsights, https://www.smartinsights.com/social-media-marketing/social-media-strategy/social-media-marketing-trends-2020/, Retrieval 23th Feb.)
But don't worry social media will definitely not disappear in the coming years. The effects of social media, both positive and negative on people, must continue to be closely monitored and analysed. Furthermore, companies should not put all their money in social media marketing but also consider areas like email marketing.
So finally on this topic, everyone should take a look at themselves and see how social media influences them and consider it a small challenge to reduce their screen time.
