My main blog is Drarryking so when I like stuff that's the name that comes up and not Dorwiniondreams.

If I was Denethor the second, Steward of Gondor I would not have sent my son to a council meeting to try and get a cursed ring- I would have sent both my sons out to Seduce Aragorn by any means necessary.
If I wanted the crown of Gondor and to secure leadership for my family for all time I would have said boys. Get out there. Make it happen. Fluff your beautiful shiny hair up. Make papa proud

I understand where people who say "at least rop is getting more people into tolkien" are coming from but unfortunately my tolkien-obsessed brain can only reply with a very purist "what's the point if it'll only make them enter tolkien's world with a ton of misconceptions and wrong perceptions of many themes, events and characters therefore not really getting them into tolkien but someone else's warped version of tolkien; the only way to get into tolkien is to acually READ him"
it's no-one's fault that it happens and nothing can be done about BUT ☝️ at least it also makes me so very painfully frustrated
#you’re not wrong#but there are so many people defending it as some great show it’s weird#of course it’s probably not the people who grew up with the books or the Peter Jackson movies

“What do you fear, lady?” Aragorn asked.
“Surface-level anti-femenist interpretations of my character,” Éowyn said. “To kill a major antagonist and then to become a healer and have people say that it’s because I’m a woman or something. I’m a complex character.”

I've dreamt of you so often that it is doubtless no longer time for me to wake. I sleep standing, my body exposed to all the appearances of life and love and you, who only count today for me, I could touch your forehead and your lips less easily than any other lips and forehead.
— Robert Desnos (tr. Mary Ann Caws)

Sometimes i wish Merlin and Arthur had just run away. Screw Camelot or Albion or anything else. They should’ve just ran away and would’ve been so happy together on that farm and Merlin would’ve came out with his magic and they would’ve lived out their gay ass lives together so happy and Arthur would still be alive.

Broke: Merlin is a royalist because he is a class traitor boot licker
Woke: Merlin is a royalist because he was raised a peasant in the sixth century and he has the perspective and values typical of that time period on top of his personal experiences with Arthur to give him faith in the enlightened despotism favored by Catherine the Great and Frederick of Prussia.
Bespoke: Merlin is a royalist because anyone who had to live through both the English Civil War and Voltaire's exile to Britain would come out the other side thinking democracy is stupid.
Transcendent: Merlin is not a royalist. He is the divine right of kings in human form. The avatar of Albion and its magic. He does not believe in kings because of Arthur. He believes in Arthur so Arthur gets to be king.
