absolutely ADORED the comic you made for splats anniversary! i've been following your art since the mother days so seeing those squid kids with their classic personalities was so nostalgic - thank you for sharing your creations with the world!!

aww thanks so much, appreciate u sticking around!!! it was an interesting challenge in how i wanted to stay accurate to how i originally portrayed d&s but i'm pleasantly surprised at how organic it ended up coming out feeling believable they would later be close :'D

thanks! it was a challenge to write to make the comic feel believable (honestly hurted mii to make them be mean to each other to feel accurate to how mean i originally had them 😭)

spinoff game yes very nice veeery nice it's about time we start spreading out, there's just too much for this world to offer!!

MORE DEEP CUTTTTT makes me sad that people are calling it a flex because they were 'the least popular group' and 'lost their own grand fest' cmon fests are always about more than that... i think they know we love deep cut

big splat3 update!! i was secretly hoping they'd add Some little thing in honor of the first game turning 10 and i know the devs are prone to adding stuff even after they say they are done. hehe my feeling was correct and then some

god ive never stopped playing all this time for badge grinding and now they added even higher caps don't forget youre here forever!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

urchin underpass!!! actually on this note, while i was choosing stages to represent splat 1 in my anniversary comic i only then realized no single stage has appeared in every title. isn't that kind of interesting. gonna be so nostalgic with that kind of being the signature splat1 stage!! imagine they just ported in the original tiny version before they reworked it into a larger stage pffft

Ahhh! Your Dottie n stripes origin comic was SO GOOD!!! Stayed up reading it and it was such a delight. Every panel was full of character, I especially LOVE the composition you drew of Dottie super jumping. Also the way you use colour in each page - dynamic and bright when full of action and the softer tones for the more character focused scenes. Thank you truly for these characters and your art <3

thank you ahh!!! omg i was SOO proud of the walleye warehouse pages after i finished them, i really felt being able to knack splatoon battle action clicking with me after that :D

i generally like more limited palettes when im making art so it was certainly a challenge doing the big setpiece pages making sure it felt accurate to how colorful splatoon feels, and im happy about how my colors came out for each setting!! tysm for being along for the ride ^__^

Genuinely got a little misty eyed reading through the 10th anniv comic. It’s been such a delight following these characters for the last 10 years, and seeing all the splat 1 details (the old maps, the spawnpoints, the gear) made me feel so nostalgic and idk how to put it into words really. This game series really is something so special.

Thank you so much for sharing your characters and their stories over the years and I can’t wait to see their future shenanigans <3

ahh im so glad to hear that :'))))) i really wanted to specifically portray an ode to the original game and stick to the maps and gear and specific gameplay memories i had from that first title. i myself felt sooo nostalgic referencing all the old maps and weapon designs so i'm thrilled it had that effect and you feel the same way... thanks bunches!!! 🩵💛

the comic was so so so so good but I especially LOVED the colors!!! all the maps?? KELP DOME?? ahhh!!!!! it takes me back to splatoon 1 immediately!! youre so good!!!!!!!

thank you omg!! i chose the palettes for each map based on my memories of playing the stages before actually going back and looking up the accurate colors so it has a sort of rose-tint nostalgia altogether for me. and honestly drawing the maps felt so daunting at first but it wasn't tooo bad once i got a handle on simplifying each!

HI I just wanted to let you know that your Splatoon anniversary comic is REALLY GOOD AND COOL… your art and colors and characters are super awesome and it’s really inspiring to me. Splatoon has only had me in its hyperfixation chokehold for a little less than three years but it’s AWESOME to see people that have been with it from the start! Thank you for sharing the tale of Dottie and Stripes :3 stay fresh!

I've sent about thirybillion extremely sentimental asks wrt Dottie + Stripes and how much I enjoy it where I use, frankly, too many words, but I've got one more in me that's hopefully a bit more succinct lmao

D+S wasn't how I discovered you or your work but I can remember being invested in it fairly early on into its existence. It's always been an extremely charming little 'series' thats funny, silly, but also has a lot of heart backing it and clearly a lot of thought has gone into the worldbuilding, the characters' places within it etc., to say nothing of the various hints of deeper intrigue that come up from time to time; its clear you care a lot about the characters and the world. That you can see the evolution of the art over time- which already started at a strong place and only grew moreso- is also fantastic, with the anniversary comic in particular very nicely flitting between more bold and cartoony art to more restrained and subtle art in a way that almost comes off as effortless (even knowing it would, in fact, have taken a lot of effort), really demonstrating that growth and improvement.

I think I've waffled enough, haha; thank you for ten years of Dottie & Stripes. Here's to many more years~ (I for one can't wait for the arc where they finally do their taxes). 🫶

aww, i really appreciate every message you send! it means so much to receive such a thoughtful analysis after putting so many hours into such a project, i'm over the moon that it can be interpreted that way. it can be difficult to acknowledge old work as an artist, feeling like the stuff you made years ago was 'cringe' but i try to think about how much it made me happy at the time to make and i feel that d&s is a unique case for me bc they're the only characters i've consistently worked with for so long a time, so they really have grown alongside me both as an artist and just as a person over the years. so you're most welcome and i thank u a ton!!

DOTTIE VS STRIPES... A TALE OF TWO SQUIDDIES!!!

happy 10th birthday splatoon! in celebration i’ve made this comic about how dottie and stripes got to know each other. it is part origin-story and part homage to splatoon 1.

believe it or not, i actually started drafting this when splatoon 3 had just come out. i had trouble following through with it over the past two years and then realized it would be a fun project to really push myself to complete for this special anniversary. i had to put a lot of intense hours into finishing it on time!

seeing this series march through 10 years has been surreal, i feel like these days it is rarer to be able to witness a completely new series start out and grow exponentially over the following years. my memory of watching the very first e3 trailer for splatoon in all its wiiu glory is still so incredibly vivid… hitting refresh on my wonky phone during my lunchbreak in senior year of highschool! i didnt even have a wiiu at that point and knew that instant i had to get one :'D

wild to now think about how i was really excited but even so would have no idea what was about to hit me. the addiction to the gameplay, the obsession with its world, the nonstop inspiration it would give me to making characters and carving out my own little slice of its universe. not to mention how my closest most treasured friendships really blossomed out of playing the game together! even outside of that, i’ve had such wonderful passing interactions with many different people, of course that being many of you. i seriously cannot thank you guys enough for all the kind and encouraging words you’ve ever left on any of my posts these past 10 years! we’ve all grown up so much!

anyhow… my tribute to splatoon affecting my life for the best! i hope you enjoy :~)
