Years ago, Yoshij1had had created some comics for me of Kye being turned into a scythe and obliviously being used to decapitate others by his friend, Koji. Needless to say, it didn't go well! At all! That's what you get for using a Softie as a sharp weapon, they're as effective as a knife made out of Play-Doh. Years have passed and Kye has (mostly) matured, thanks to just the natural aspect of growing up, and because of his new role as King (I also felt the obliviousness didn't fit his character anymore). Therefore, when he was approached to assume the form again "for old time's sake," he was pretty reluctant to do so. In the end, he went through with it, but he clearly wasn't told to like it!

I had something else in mind for a Halloween picture but just didn't have the time to do it. I also felt that I wasn't drawing the poses the way I wanted, so one morning this popped into my head and decided to doodle it. Honestly, I'm pretty happy how this came out despite it being a quick drawing, and a nice reference to a good friend of mine. This was also all drawn on my iPad! I tell you, I really need more practice on coloring completely on the iPad, this felt a little tedious to me even for a simple coloring. Surely I'll get better in time.

To which Cookie would likely be dragged down the street by a quick-footclawed Zergling who acts very much dog but does not like being told he is dog. At least he wore his old hat!

While I don't like to use art posts for the purpose of updates, I also recognize that I haven't quite given one in some time, but for those outside my immediate group of friends, I've been in Albuquerque for most of July staying with my boyfriend LilArrin, and before I left, I wanted to get a picture done with him involved! This actually came to me shortly after finishing Lounging and involved another bit of figuring out angles for things I haven't quite drawn before, such as footpaws, footclaws and shoes, although that one's lazy as you can see. Actually, I'm not 100% satisfied with this picture as I originally was (I started writing the description for this about a week ago, and am only now picking it back up), considering that once again, I reused older art as the viewing angles were exactly what I wanted and I already had it available to me. The difference here was that I could quickly edit Cookie as his size was ripped right out of another piece of art of mine, while Zergy's sketch had to be sized up and recolored completely.

Still, I very much wanted to make something involving my Zergling and was determined to start and finish it while I was physically there with him. Not only that, but I was also able to continue using his computer to do my coloring. More specifically, his custom-built PC, which dwarfs any sort of performance my current 2019 iMac has. Then again, the scale of my projects are unnecessicarily large and really should be scaled down, as well as doing more coloring work on the iPad itself. But, I was once again grateful to him that he allowed me to use his rig to play on while he was at work and, by extension, doing art.

"Perfect day to relax on the beach, right guys?"

It's the middle of July in Aunov, which means the height of summer has arrived. It's the hottest time of year, the brightest and longest the sun is out. Folks are staying inside as much as possible in the air conditioning, in pools, or as we see our quartet, at the beach. We find Cinnamon, Cookie, and Mac all enjoying themselves on this summer equinox along the southern Aunova shores, basking in the sun as they all share a conversation and relax. Cherry, on the other handpaw, seems to have found himself volunteering (or being volun-told) to be Cookie's beach towel. But can you really be upset at that? You get free hugs from him!

This is perhaps one of my favorite drawings that I've done in a long time. Originally, I planned to participate in Art Fight this year; I had planned to be on vacation for the entire month of July as early as last year to spend it with my boyfriend, and found the timing to be perfect to jump in. However, I was pretty sidetracked with taking care of Grandma's house, work, and preparing for my trip throughout May and June, and for two weeks on vacation, I still couldn't fight off art block. That is, until I decided to resurface an old sketch I had done in February 2021, which was meant for a new character reference. I was pretty happy with the pose (until I ran out of page space again), but felt that it would work better for something different, and converted it into this. Originally, this picture was going to be just Cookie. However, through conversations and ideas posed by my friends on Discord, it then became involving Mac, which then also became involving Cinnamon, and then also getting Cherry in here somehow. With the exception of Cherry, everyone in this picture was drawn from scratch, using bits and pieces from other sketches and drawings to get the right angles that I wanted. I spent all of Friday, July 14 coloring Cookie; most of Tuesday, July 18 sketching Mac and Cinnamon respectively, and then all of Wednesday, July 19 coloring them both and creating the background along with altering old art of Cherry to make him appear flat.

This is perhaps one of the largest pictures I've also ever made, coming in at 15,000 × 10,000, and that's really just a side effect of the canvas sizes I draw on. But it also ended up being this way because I was including three full-body characters in the same frame. If you couldn't tell, I really enjoy drawing full-body. Still, it's a reminder that in the future, I really should draw on smaller canvases and color on smaller canvases as well. That, or just start learning how to color on the iPad only. Shoutout to LilArrin and his custom PC for handling this mammoth project that didn't need to be this way, it handled the whole process so flawlessly that my iMac back home would've screamed trying to handle a canvas this size. But I love the way it came out, I loved drawing everyone in this picture, especially Mac. Sure, he doesn't wear much already, so that gave me the opportunity to come up with a summer outfit, and it's a good thing Beach Koopas are a thing because that was the perfect base to work with. Turn his glasses into sunglasses, give him a tank top and sandals and design both it and his beach towel with circuitry. Man, I love this look, I really wanna try and incorporate it into a new look for him sometime. Cinnamon was also a ton of fun to draw, it was just a bit harder with the angle she was in, and that includes her skirt.

A belated happy birthday to one of my best friends who's out of this world!

In an attempt to fight off art block, I expressed interest in wanting to color sketches that I had or friends had made for me. This one was created by one of my closest friends Ryex, who is unfortunately no longer active on DeviantART [or FurAffinity], back in August 2021 featuring my Koopa, Mac, and his original Tychan K'enehk, Pleebo, but went uncolored all this time. However, with his permission, I wanted to give it some color and decided to do so as a birthday present for him.

Work out in the galaxy can be pretty tiring for Pleebo and the crew of the Broken Arrow, so every now and again, the K'enehk finds his way to Aunov to visit his Koopa partner, but every so often, the latter finds his way coming up to the spacecraft to spend time with him, giving each other incredible views of the planet below and the far reaches of space. These two shy nerds lovingly embrace for a lovely picture together, with the great beyond as a backdrop.

It is now April 7 again. Today, I've turned 28 years old.

I still happily celebrate my birthday, and I will today and this weekend, but this one, in stark contrast to the subject matter in this piece, carries some weight to it. About a month and a half ago, my Grandma passed away just a week before her birthday. I haven't been 100% health-wise since; nothing concerning, but the impact is still there. She was my best friend, we loved each other very much, and we didn't need to be in the same physical space to know that. I'm mostly at peace knowing that she is no longer in pain, dealing with so much, but the loss and pain of continuing life without her is difficult. There have been many times since her passing that I've wanted to talk to her, simply reach for my phone and send her a text, or fill her in on how things have been, as I always have. But that's not possible anymore. I have three primary routes to get between home and work, and two of them pass right by her house. It's difficult to go to a couple places knowing how often I went to them with her, mostly for doctor's appointments, but they were with her.

While I write this description, I'm emotionally stabilized and alright overall, and I will be going forward. I knew it wasn't going to be long for her, it was pretty hard to know how long that was. My Uncle was optimistic, while my Mom was pessimistic, and frankly, more believable. While my family lives outside of Florida, my Mom, brother and I lived just a couple minutes away, so we helped take care of her for just about everything. We saw how she degraded over the past year, but at her age, and everything she's ever gone through, it gave me more reason to feel a little more at ease knowing that her time was coming. You can try to prepare yourself for loss, but you never are truly prepared for it to happen. My Grandma was someone I could talk to about anything, as she could with me. She helped me learn to swim, she helped me with schoolwork on multiple occasions, and was the one who hooked me up with many of the fun toys and tech I have, among other things. I'm still glad to say that I have the DS Lite, DSi, and iPod touch 5 that she had bought for me over the years; they certainly hold very high sentimental value to me now. She loved the title of "Grandma," and she treated everyone she met with the same love, care, and respect as if they were her own children. If you ever got to meet her, no doubt you would be treated the same way.

As I had done for the past few years, I wanted to once again do something relating to inflation, or being a balloon, but seeing as recent events have cast this shadow over my family and I, it was one that I wanted to try and make sentimental and reflective. So that's what I did, just sitting on a cloud, staring into the empty skies above. Maybe thinking I can see the angels of my Grandma, my Dad, my Grandpas from up here. Thinking of having to navigate life without her, when I haven't made alot of progress in life as is, it both makes me feel like a disgrace, and to know that when I can and will achieve something, when I move out, get married, she wouldn't have been around to see it. The last link to my Dad, the one who has been regularly in my life for the past 15+ years. It's hard. It's very hard.

However, life goes on. It's all I can do. Try to take care of what remaining family I have next to me, pull myself together and do something more for me that'll put me on a stable path. One where I and those around me are happy, not marred by stress or depression. I'll do my best, we'll do my best. It's what my Grandma would've wanted. I love you to the moon and back.

A little something I put together for SwissYosh, a pal of mine from Twitter and Discord. We had spoken a number of times about getting something finished for him but thing after thing just prevented me from finishing it. It was a recolor/retrofit of a base I had, but I still felt a bit guilty I didn't finish it, I still desired to make sure something new was done; that's what I wanted to do more for him rather than yet another reuse of my old art.

For the most part, I'm happy with how this came out, but there are days where I feel on my game and days where I feel like I struggle to draw even when I've drawn Yoshis for so many years; it felt like the latter this time around. I also couldn't quite get the pose the way I wanted, I wanted him to hold the flag with both handpaws but could only manage the one. Maybe next time! I also wanted to make the flag a checkered one, since Swiss is very much into Mario Kart, but I didn't sketch that out previously, and didn't want to wing it freely in Paint.NET, so I took the opportunity to make it the flag of Switzerland, which is where he's from and holds in pretty high regard. He loves where he's from and I give him my respect for that. 😃

"When I was offered "field tickets" for the big game today, this really was not how I expected things to go."

Happy Super Bowl Sunday to all of my American friends, from a fellow American who doesn't care about sports! I question why I even made this but I guess sudden bouts of inspiration and a desire to draw will do that to you.

Here we have Cookie, who as he said, appears to have been offered a ticket to tonight's local game, described as "field tickets." Usually, you'd think this would mean he'd be fieldside, where the players and coaches sit. Instead, he's found himself in the [un]lucky position of tonight's ball! Tightly squished into a familiar shape and coated in a primer meant to help keep his shape, Cookie is even put on a stand during pre-game shenanigans for fans and press to look at and take pictures with before he's sent to the field to be thrown around. They even gave him a little bit of paint to look like the real thing! So how long into the game before he's flat as a pancake? Won't that be a whole new level of Inflategate.

I had a lot more fun putting this together than I anticipated, I did this in two days rather than one because messing with effects bogged my computer down to a disgustingly slow crawl. While my computer is only 4 years old, the hardware inside of it is showing its incompetency. Anyway, I did the coloring one day and then the background the next, which was a little bit of a challenge to think of one. I had known from the beginning that I wanted to put Cookie on a display in front of a backdrop but as someone who doesn't watch sports really at all, I had to come up with something and what I came up with was a green background with the endzones on them; if you know your Morse code (at least for the one on top), that's a stylized version of it that does say a word if you can make it out!

Back in 2014 while chatting with LilArrin, I remember talking to him about changing up the glasses design on my Yoshi, but couldn't quite figure out what shape or type I wanted to stick with. This was long before I was being less stringent on how I wanted to design him; as in, I wanted to design Cookie as close to how I would dress as a Yoshi as possible, and that included eyewear.

I was stuck between square frames, circular frames, even a sci-fi visor, which I believe was one of the first times that ever showed up. Not only did he draw four different frames for me, all of them had different expressions too. Last month, while I didn't have anything new drawn up to color, I decided to take three of these, give them color, and then use them as emotes in my Discord server. So here you go: doughshi_ponder, doughshi_think, and doughshi_cheeky!

I also recall doing all of these a little differently from each other; after all, I really hadn't opened Paint.NET in months, so I was feeling a little rusty about how I wanted to approach it. I did them in this order, left to right, so as I went from one to the other, I figured things out better, especially when doing the eyes.

Thanks again to Dr. Zergling for having done these for me all those years ago, I know I can't do the color as well as you have, but I guess when they're so tiny on-screen, maybe it's an alright compromise. Thanks for looking! 😉

Zerglings can get fired up by all sorts of things. Not having enough Minerals, Terrans invading their land, or...a complicated physics problem that shouldn't be on your current level of homework?

That's the vibe @LilArrin had years ago during his Zergy Physics series in which he shared that exact scenario - 10 years ago, if you can believe that - with this being one of the doodles he had drawn within the very tall image. Surprisingly, I had already done this two years ago and I never uploaded it. So, I wanted to get that fixed. It was mostly to be a silly emote to use on Discord featuring Zergy.

Up until now, this is one of three times, I believe, that I've taken someone else's artwork and given it some color. While I feel that I did a decent job giving sketches some new life with color, I will say that I could learn a thing or two about it, as knowing how the other artists do their coloring in comparison, something feels lost on the image with the way I do things. For something like this and Cookie's Expressions that I did earlier this year, which are meant to be seen on a small scale, the lack of detail and shading doesn't really matter too much, I think. But when I did Shy Guys, which is a much bigger image, I felt I still could do better.

Still, I hope you enjoyed this Zergy! I'd love to do this again, maybe when my coloring skills improve, but definitely with a sketch of him that's happier and goofier. He does have a few of those, I know! 💜

He offered to do so if I gave him references, so I did! It's so cute how it came out, his style is wonderful. I had also asked if he'd be interested in swapping the collar tag out for a proper cowbell, something I neglected to add to the cow when I was drawing him, so that'll be something I'll have to go back and redo at a later day, likely before I do a proper full reference for him and the pig.

This incredible headshot was done by @LazySmeargleSFW, and mostly by surprise! I was out with Mom a few weeks back and next thing I knew, I was mentioned in a Discord chat to see a sketch begin worked on, and it was the cow! And to think he's only been around for a short period of time!

I've been using this as my profile picture on Discord and Twix (that's what I'm calling Twitter/X), because of how wonderfully cute it is. It really captures the vision that I had for a cow fursona when I started thinking deeper into this concept. I can't thank him enough for it!

Finally, after two months of work, I am over-the-moon proud to show off something I quickly became passionate about: designing a fursona. And not just one, but two!

Over the past three years, I've surrounded myself in a new group of friends that have been so wholesome, friendly, caring, kind, just about any positive synonym you could think of. When I first met them, they were all mostly Nintendo fans, and dominantly represented themselves by Yoshis and Koopas; it actually became a running gag of how many Yoshis there were. However, as time went on, one by one members of this group were exploring new horizons, not out of requirement but by curiosity. What was a group of dinosaurs and turtles became a varied and vibrant group of animals: a duck, bunny, giraffe, crocodile, among many others. The thought never really came up for me much at all to try it myself, I was happy with what I had and I wasn't being forced to try anything else.

A couple times when the topic of furries came about, I expressed interest in trying to design a pig for myself if it was ever pushed upon me that I could no longer represent myself with a Yoshi anymore. Of course, I don't find myself in any position where that would happen, so I didn't need to think much of it. However, that changed while I was on vacation in New Mexico, staying with my boyfriend LilArrin. While in a Discord voice call with these friends, the subject of fursonas came up. While I don't remember the context, I once again shared my interest in trying to make a pig for myself. By this point in time, I had tried to sketch one out, but immediately disliked the look of it once I finished, and told myself I would come back to the idea later when I feel like I could do the idea the justice it deserves. However, I was also right next to Zergy during that call, and he heard me talk about it out loud, and even asked me about it; my response was what I gave above. Little did I know what he had in mind for me, and how far it would go.

Yesterday, I uploaded a six-panel comic that Zergy had drawn for me shortly after I had gone back home, featuring my Yoshi as a piggy, and that caused my brain to fire off like a rocket. Through the next day at work, all I could think of were ideas for this, and what else I could do, how I could draw it...   and unfortunately, what else I was interested in. I've always had an interest in pigs, at least the full pink domestic variety you'd likely see on a farm. Most of their cartoony appearances in children's books or cartoons always stuck with me, I was interested in the design and had been most of my life. I was born in the Year of the Pig. However, Zergy was interested in cows, as early as his own childhood too. Getting to stay with him, I was able to see some of his doodles, which included a couple of designs of a cow character that I really loved. That thought entered my mind that day, and the prominence of having a piggy as a fursona started to shrink, and up came a cow. These two ideas swirled and battled for dominance until I just decided...

Why not both?

Later on, Zergy makes an attempt to give me a visual of a cow fursona for me, using the pig's body. This process just kept me going and wanting to really nail down what I wanted, and knowing it could be accomplished on the same canvas, I spent almost all of August sketching the two furries you see above: a cow, and a pig. I'm so proud to show these off, I've become really happy with both of their designs and what they mean to me...as well as what they've already given me!

My Yoshi is also not being retired or demoted, he is still the face of me and my main representation. However, in the event that he can't be used or is not preferred, I offer a cow form and a pig form for him to turn into. Accomplished by the power of the Rainbow Scale, it transfers down to the tail of the latter two when he turns into something else. Therefore, these three are not separate characters or beings but are the one. Each of them have "code names" to them, sorta like project files. The Yoshi is known as Cookie, the cow is Milkshake, and the pig is Mochi, but these are all me: Kyle! However, in contradiction, I think it might be best for me to retract those later on and just keep my real name as a form of addressing, with my nickname being Cookie (I seriously love being called this).

Once again, these are not individuals but the same person in a different form. They all share similar details about each other: same hair color, eye color, skin and body color, and the presence of a rainbow somewhere on the body. Originating on the Yoshi, the Rainbow Scale allows forms to be "saved" to it and allows Cookie to swap between others at will. When he transforms into a cow or pig, for example, that transitions to his tail. However, this is also falling in line with Cookie's Softie nature and the ability to manipulate his body either by choice or not. As such, that portion of the body can be humorously yoinked off of him and taken away. Without it, Cookie cannot return to his Yoshi form, nor can he turn into other forms as a Yoshi.

Additionally, because he can be easily flattened, inflated or otherwise, using the Rainbow Scale to turn into other forms doesn't help him out of being misshapen. All three forms use the exact same color palette and feature clothing and outfits that are mostly interchangeable between the three. All of them wear the same circular glasses, can wear the same neckerchief with Royal Emblem pin, have a smartwatch worn on the left wrist and wear the simple Yoshi boots...which somehow stretch and grow for the cow and pig because they are bigger than the Yoshi!

In time, I plan to make new, individual references for all three forms, since the Yoshi portion reuses older art and all three have new and updated outfits that I'd like to show off, and I think it's important to show off details of each. I also think I might end up redoing this reference as well as I feel it could be better laid out and provide more details. In the end, I'm super excited to have these here and I hope you all like it too! This is a new chapter for me and one I'm excited to embark on with all my friends! 🍪🐮🐷

Cookie is absolutely no stranger to being squished, squashed, smushed and smashed at any given moment. Sometimes on purpose, but most times on accident, and somtimes in the goofiest of ways. Take the top half for example, as our local Doughshi has traveled to the local science lab to visit his Zergy mate to see how he's doing. But a curious Zergling is swift and strong, not to mention that Cookie probably should've noticed that the door swings outwards towards him. As a result, Zergy shoves the door open with little time to react! He looks around outside but when he doesn't see anything of note, he closes the door and returns to work. Plastered to the door is Cookie, dazed and the thickness of a pancake, his head flopping over a bit to show his swirly eyes, his glasses landing on the ground along with one of his sandals, while his left handpaw and footpaw stay normal just outside the door's range. Thankfully, the one with his smartwatch on it.

The next day, our doughy dinosaur visits his best friend Simon, who in the time he's known Cookie has taken up and very much excelled in sculpting. This is one of the common hobbies and talents of most Softies in Aunov, as they an simply sculpt another one of their own into something else if they desire. And it looks like just that as Simon has treated the Doughshi to the shape of a friendly piggy! Cookie takes some time to check himself out and fails to remember Simon's ever-worsening mischievous side, walking back into the room with a giant ACME? hammer poorly hidden behind his back, and in one swift motion, slams it down over the new pudgy pig, squashing him into a pancake on the ground! His glasses and both sandals fall off while his smartwatch thankfully dodges another bullet, as the squishy swine rests helplessly before Simon's footpaws, dizzy once again as the furry Armaron smiles proudly from above, taking pride in playing around with his younger brother.

I was given permission by my boyfriend, LilArrin, to upload this amazing six-panel comic that he drew for me after I came home from New Mexico! He had teased the first panel of Cookie one night and as always, it sends me down a speculative spiral, curious to know what he was up to and what he had planned. A day or two later, he also shows our friend SDragon01 the middle-bottom panel, of him swinging the hammer down. I could tell what was coming but had no idea what else there was to it. Days later, Zergy presents me with this, a silly set of pictures of Cookie getting squashed. Once again, this is not what he draws at all, he has only done this for me, but every time he does it, he gets so much better at it. He had already surprised me with a really fun squishy drawing at the start of the year, so to do a bunch like this was so very appreciated, and knowing he does this at all and for me makes me extremely grateful. It makes them all so very special to me with the work and effort (and challenge) that goes into each one. I love him that much more for it all.

Thank you once again, Zergy! I have a smile on my face each time this shows up as my computer wallpaper! Now, why is Cookie a pig in the second half? You might just need to wait a bit longer to find out~

"My Great-Grandmother forged this planet with every bit of power she had. Everyone who lives here has a bit of her life in them. She was taken from us far too soon, and yet her beauty spans this landscape in every direction. With the power of Ioa, the role I hold as King of Aunov, the people will always be protected. Just as she would've done."

Sometime last year, I did a sketch for a character I have yet to show off yet. At this point, I may end up redoing the drawing altogether. But some time later, I had the idea to instead use parts of that drawing to make something new. For a long while, I had wanted to draw something featuring Kye's Halo form, something dynamic and powerful, a little intimidating and serious. And this came to mind. I'm still not the greatest when it comes to poses but I felt like I did pretty good drawing this.

For anyone unfamiliar with this form:

Kye utilizes the power of the Aurora Lights primarily, the power source of his home planet Ioa, to transform into a super state that you might draw immediate comparisons to a certain hedgehog or Saiyan and transforms into Halo Kye. The individual Aurora Lights control and maintain some aspect of Ioa, so in theory, Kye can hold onto his Halo form indefinitely, but he slowly drains the resources of Ioa, which would revert it back to the barren rock state it originally was in. As such, this form is barely seen as Kye cannot maintain it for long, but when it is, he is given extreme speed, super strength, flight, heightened senses and enhanced magic powers, greater than anything he had normally.

This is a rare sight to see, but one that comes in the most dire of situations. Let's hope he and his friends are capable of keeping peace in a non-aggressive manner, and that this form isn't needed often.

I'm gonna make an effort to try and upload my art here when I upload it to my galleries! I spent all of yesterday getting caught up with DeviantArt and FurAffinity so now it's uploading stuff that hasn't gone up yet. In the days to come, I'll do my best to upload stuff at least from this year.

Hello, Tumblr! Again!

Howdy, everyone! I don't know if anyone still remembers me from a defunct ask blog that I attempted to start in 2012, I think, and never kept up with. Over the years, I just browsed Tumblr for posts and things to look at, but decided to throw my hat (which I used to have) into the ring again and start new.

It's totally not because Twitter is a dumpster fire right now, no way at all.

Tumblr used to be one of the sites I browsed through daily, but as changes were made to the site, I eventually put it away. I believe the last post I made of any sort was in 2018 or 2019; the last new post I made was way older than that.

So yeah, I'm giving this place another shot! Much of the blogs I used to follow don't seem to be active anymore, so I guess that was more reason for me to just start over.

So I guess I can start with, who am I?

I'm this guy! My name's Kyle, but my friends also call me Cookie. There are reasons, I swear. Stick around long enough and maybe I'll tell you!

I'm a Level 28 Tropical Yoshi that thankfully doesn't dissolve into Dippin' Dots upon impact with water, although I melt into a puddle because it's hot 9 days out of the 7 where I'm from. As if having ADHD and maybe autism isn't bad enough already. I'm a hobbyist artist who mostly specializes in Nintendo things, particularly Yoshis, and have been doing so since 2010. I do it because it's fun!

I love technology (particularly Apple), video games (particularly Nintendo), extreme weather, random interests here and there that also come and go, and cookies. Seriously, a good chocolate chip cookie is an excellent way to end the day.
