“i have no idea what you’re talking about,” she shrugged. “honestly ross, i think you might be hearing things. maybe it’s all those things you do to try and make yourself look cool which is fooling absolutely no one.” she shook her head. “not with those products you can’t, they’re the opposite of caring about the planet. you’re probably single-handedly destroying at least a quarter of the ozone layer with that. just remember, it won’t matter if you look cool if no one’s alive to see it.”
"ouch!" ross exclaimed, keeping the smile right where it was on his face. he faltered, maybe, for a quick second and there was just a little bit of hurt in his eyes. he laughed it off though, like always, and continued, "someone woke up on the wrong side of the bed this morning, huh? have you ever stopped to think I'm not trying to look cool and it's just an unfortnuate side effect?" he'd fully regained his composure by this point, "you know damn well I care about the planet, I just don't quite think my pomade is the earth's largest enemy," he said, rolling his eyes, "you're allowed to be nice to me, you realize that, right? it's not against any written law."

becca’s eyes nearly went wide with amazement. her former best friend turned newly reconnected friend had bustled his way over and positioned himself right in front of her. she had made the first move, yes, but she had never guessed he’d put that much enthusiasm into a conversation with her. ‘ oh, uh— ‘ he always knew how to get it out of her, cut the shit and lay it out straight. ‘ well, i had to rearrange a few college tours to make the trip, so that was a bit hectic, but other than that, just dandy, i guess. ‘ she chuckled, a warm smile rising to her lips. it was nice to see an old face for a bit. ‘ what about you, ross man ? ‘
ross couldn't help but laugh at how taken aback becca seemed. he couldn't blame her, though, it wasn't typical of them to start up a conversation. something called to him, though, he could tell becca was trying to gain his attention. maybe this trip was a chance to do things he'd been wanting to, to change certain things? he was lost in thought while somehow still listening to what she had to say, "college tours, huh? you thinking about anywhere crazy? leaving this little world in the dust?" he asked, pointedly kicking the ground they were standing on. "me?" he asked, almost incredulously. not many people asked him back. he recovered quickly, though, "you know how it is. fucking shit up, making new memories, doing what I want to do," he spoke certainly, shooting her a signature smile.

ross was scanning the crowd, looking for his friends, when his eyes landed on becca. he was instantly thrown back into a different time in his life. sure, he'd seen her in a class or two or walking down the hallway where they'd exchanged friendly smiles, but back in the day before all of the shit he'd pulled himself into, there'd been becca. always a friend, even before he thought he had any at all. he pullled himself out of his thoughts and waved, jogging over to her. "the one and only! how are you doing? and not the surface, I'm good. how are you really doing?" he spoke confidently, like always, but somewhere he was wondering what becca really thought of him. what she thought of who he'd become.
@doylesross
the slight tongue action— although not sexual, was indeed in attempt to grab the attention of someone. more specifically, she was aiming for ross’ attention. the two had barely talked in ages, only really beginning to get to know each other again recently, and becca saw this as her chance to reconnect with an old friend. so, she sent the gesture his way once more, just so he’d see it.

cassandra rolled her eyes. “besides the fact that it’s a waste of at least 20 minutes of your day, all of that-” she made a circular motion in the direction of the bag, “is terrible for the planet and your body. not to mention you look perfectly fine without it,” she mumbled, looking around at anything except his face as she said it.
ross's head snapped back and he barked out a laugh, every compliment when it came to cassandra was adorned with a lesson, or maybe an insult. it depended on the day, "what was that? did you have something nice to say to me, cass?" he said mockingly, "no, seriously, I want to hear it again!" he finally caught her eye for a minute, shaking his head. poking fun at cassandra had always been too easy, "whatever, I can care about the planet and still look fresh as fuck."

ross scoffed, and threw his hands up, “I’m probably the least prepared person I know. chances are, I’ll end up eating my shoes or something.” he tilted his head, laughing a little bit at her desperation. “we can go on a search for who has the goods? or pretend you have to puke or something and I’ll ransack a seven eleven.”
hannah stuck her arm into her backpack, annoyed once again that she couldn’t find all the food she was sure she had brought. “how long is this bus ride going to be? i’m already starving,” she whined overdramatically. “take pity on me and give me something to eat, please.”

ross let a smile form and squeezed his lips together a little bit in shame, shoving his comb back in the unzipped bag next to him. he glanced up at cassandra and back down at his bag holding his hair gel, hair dryer, and pomade. what could he say? he liked to look good. he quickly zipped the bag the whole way shut, and let out a chuckle. “don’t be upset that I take better care of my hair than you do, cassandra.” he looked the girl in front of him up and down, always reprimanding him for something. “do you want me to search your bags?”
cassandra pressed her tongue against the back of her teeth, trying to remain expressionless at what she’d just been told. “so, let me get this straight — you were packing for this trip; an outdoorsy, middle of nowhere, school sanctioned trip and thought ‘yeah i definitely need to bring… that’?” she gestured to what they were holding.

“woah, dude!” ross exclaimed at the boy laying on the floor in front of him, not being able to hold back a laugh. “I saw you waste like half of a good cig back there man, so I’m not going to apologize,” he attempted to banter. he offered a hand to help blue up, but he was already getting up on his own and brushing himself off. “are you all good, brother? you look like you just saw a ghost.”
Leaning against the back of the school bus, Blue took a long drag on the end of his smoke. He held the butt end of it between his lips as his eyes scanned the parking lot looking for any sign of his dad and Elizabeth. The last thing he needed was for either of them to show up and make a scene. Drag him off to that ninth layer of hell most called rehab. Nope. Never again. Not of his own free will anyways. Why would he? His left hand rubbed across his right, lower, arm at his injection sight under his sleeve. Shooting up this morning was easy but getting a fix on the bus was going to be a pain in the ass. If he could manage it he would but he wasn’t beating on it. At least he had a few pills to get him through.
Right now, however, Blue watched as a familiar grey van started to pull into the school parking lot. That was dad. “Fuck.” He hissed and tossed the smoke down on to the ground. He stepped away from the buss and pulled the hood of his hoodie up over the back of his head. That way his distinctive brown curls weren’t showing as he pushed himself into the crowd of kids saying good-bye to their parents. He shoved his way on to the bus and glanced over his shoulder to see if they were still looking for him. Blue watched as his father, Thomas, got out of the car and began to scan the area.
“Fuck me, fuck me, fuck me…” Blue hissed as he got lower and started towards the back of the bus. He wasn’t at all looking where he was going. His eyes stuck on his father as he looked around the crowd of kid and parents. He watched the other wave to a few friends and kept his own head down before running into the back of someone else’s legs. “Jesus!” Falling back on his ass, Blue grunted. “Ow, okay, my bad.” He mumbled as he pushed himself up and rubbed his tail bone.”

“ₛₒ wₕₐₜ, ᵢ'ₘ ₛₜᵢₗₗ ₐ ᵣₒcₖₛₜₐᵣ”
✔ ┊❝ ( noah centineo. he/him &. cismale ) rumor around town is that ross doyle was on one of the buses that left for the field trip. they’re the eighteen year old that resides in new ham. over the summer news spread that he was unsure of his sexuality, but who knows if that’s true or not? what we do know is that their friends describe them as confident & quick-witted, but who knows when they’re known to be self destructive & impulsive from time to time. ( tay. 19. est. she/her. )
“who am I? let’s talk about it.”
hello!!! I’m tay and I’m very excited to mix and mash new characters and drama and play w this awesome lord of the flies plot filled with so many lovely characters, please message me if you want to cook something up with ross, now onto a little bit about my boy
ross doyle has had a very privileged life, he grew up in a wealthy town with both of his parents even though they’ve been sleeping in separate rooms for years, the fighting didn’t really take a direct effect on him, or so he thought, until he became a super passive aggressive little dude when faced with conflict rather than facing his problems head on
drinking, drugs, and bad decisions are a big part of how ross chooses to spend his time but he’s extremely adamant on not being an “addict” and scoffs and makes a charming joke absolutely any time anyone attempts to make the argument (and they have) because he’s young and stupid and most importantly: bored, these actions don’t directly conflict with the rest of his life and he’s very sure that he’s alright and just having a good fun teen time
he’s currently dealing with figuring out his sexuality, as someone who was raised in a place where you’re either straight or gay (which doesn’t seem to be extremely excepted in new ham) having attraction towards males and females is very confusing for him, and causing him some mental strife. I plan to flesh this out more with time.
in school, ross wasn’t particularly a jock or a nerd, he floated around and generally got along with just about everyone, he’s very good at keeping up with the big smile theme of new ham but I’m super interested in making some enemies... a bad hookup? a drug deal gone wrong? I want to push him
when it comes to decisions, ross isn’t the best at making them and he often finds himself in a little bit of trouble whether it be kissing the wrong person, taking the wrong pill, or getting three speeding tickets in a month he’s growing up and it’s coming a little slower than would be ideal
when it came to school work though ross wasn’t the brightest, this is one of his bigger insecurities because while everything is fun and games life comes after this and despite his laid back personality he genuinely fears failure, little does he know he doesn’t have to worry about college just yet
ross is a very social person, he exudes confidence when he talks to others and thrives off of friendships and group dynamics, being alone is not his cup of tea
he’s gotten into some trouble and has definitely managed to rattle his family dynamic, which I see him feeling particularly guilty for when the plot gets kicking
I have lots more thoughts and hope to flesh out the character and keep the ideas flowing! please message me if you’d like to plot history between the two (especially as an original character) current, or future plots! let’s do this thang
