My piece for the first Danny Phantom event I've ever taken part in, @ecto-implosion ! I felt like our boy Tucker could use some more love, so I drew him in a place he hates. As you do.

The event was an absolute blast, in no small part thanks to @carelisswriting who was a joy to work with and who wrote the most AMAZING fic based on my art! Seriously, please go read it, it's adorable and wonderful and I can't stop smiling and I need everyone to see it.

A (Conceptual) Phandom Event

If you've always wondered what a Danny Phantom animated reboot show would look like, or dreamed of working on it, this event might be perfect for you!

DP: Revived would be a Phandom collaborative project/event bringing Phandom creators together to create a hypothetical animated reboot- the ultimate goal would be to create a coherent fake reboot announcement- maybe an animated trailer, maybe fake screencaps, maybe some episode/clip scripts, maybe some final character designs and environment designs! These could also be compiled into a Art Of book.

Q: Do you have an animation length in mind yet? [...]

A: Hello !!!! (just to let you know about the rest of your message, I've already reached out on Discord!) Currently, the plan is for the pilot, if we can feasibly attempt it with the amount of animators/storyboarders we have, to be about 3-5 minutes in length! Maybe longer, if we have the capability, but it will depend on numbers! I'm entirely basing my expectations for work and scope on if I can feasibly put the workload on the team we'll have without causing undue stress or crunch! :D

Q: Will it be a whole new thing, branching off the show (such as an idea for what a new season could've been) or a redo on the concepts in the show (such as episodes, plot, etc.)? Will it be based completely on canon or will fandom ideas be mixed as well?

Q: How would we select directors/leads for things like trailers and art? How will you ensure there's not infighting or division over specific story beats or plot direction? What would a backup plan be if a participant doesn't do their job? Will we work with deadlines at all; if so, how long would they be?

A: Hi!!!! These are all really good and really important questions!!!

LEADERS? All of the different roles will have a selected leader/organizer/head called a Lieutenant. Lieutenants will be selected before/during sign-ups through a process of sign-ups and interviews (really just chats probably) based on their experience, availability, and responsibility. They'll form a kind of council that democratically makes important decisions based on logic and the feelings/opinions/thoughts of the participants they're responsible for.

INFIGHTING? One thing I hope to make abundantly clear from the moment the Discord server opens tomorrow all the way until things are posted next year is that I am going to hold everyone, no exceptions to a standard of respect. From the moment you join the project, you're an equal to everyone else. All of these decisions will be made through discussion and votes, all with the advice and input of the Lieutenants and other Experts who know about these processes. Defending your idea is expected and respected. Insistence, less so.

BACKUP? From the moment the Discord opens and even now, I'll be collecting data and enlisting pinch hitters, because Life Happens sometimes. Pinch hitters will usually be people already done with their own work or those who don't have anything assigned. I want to reduce stress while still making sure all deadlines are met.

DEADLINES? Speaking of, deadlines will absolutely be set. The timeline of the project, along with a LOT of other info, will all be available in the Discord and on this blog as it's finalized, and edits will be announced as well. As it is right now, I'm thinking that a lot of work will be assigned about 4-6 weeks before its deadline, depending.

Q: I would absolutely love to help with storyboards, however I am in school still so I'm not sure how that would affect my schedule. I also would love to know if there's requirements for software/and or skill level. I've dabbled in animation, but never really that much? I'd be apart of this, and I cant wait to see how it goes!

STORYBOARDS? i LOVE to hear that there are people interested in storyboarding, it makes me so excited !!!!

SCHEDULING CONFLICTS? the biggest rule i'm going to give this project is this: NOBODY should be expected to run on the same schedule as the others. you will be assigned work as you say you're available. if life happens, we'll find pinch hitters! i want this to be as low-stress as possible while still remaining realistic about goals and workloads.

SOFTWARE? that's an incredible question that i myself still don't know the answer to- software questions will be addressed and discussed when we know for sure that we can enact the option Phase B of this project (the pilot!), because that's when software will actually be important. if it happens that we can, then we will try to find the best, most accomodating option so those who can't afford expensive software can still participate.

SKILL LEVEL? one of the other big things i want to keep loyal to for this project is accessibility- i want all kinds of fans to have the ability to help out and put their two cents in, regardless of skill level! everyone will get to put in their ideas and participate in discussions and meetings. when we get to the later phases when final products are started, we'll start looking at portfolios to choose the best fit to create our polished works to present to the world.

I can't wait to see you in the project! I think this is gonna be so cool and we have something so cool to create !!!!

Q: could people signup for multiple roles (ie. background artist+writer?), or would that not work as far as divvying up roles?

A: YES, ABSOLUTELY !!!!! In fact, we REALLY hope people will be up to doing more than one role/job! At the moment, we have a few jobs that are just as important as others but don't have as many people interested- for example, 18 screenwriters vs 31 story writers and 11 background artists vs 32 character artists. We're really hoping that there are some people willing to help take on other roles to make sure the work is spread evenly! :D

A: I'll definitely be on the look out at all times- as far as I'm aware, though, it's perfectly legal as long as there is no profit! But yes, that is a definite concern that I will be looking out for at all times throughout the project!

Q: Would you cast voice actors?

A: if we had enough interested voice actors for all the cast featured in a pilot, yes! but if we don't have enough, then no- we can't have half the characters voiced and the other half stuck in dialogue bubbles. if you have phandom friends interested in voice acting, you can tell them about this project to increase the likelihood of us utilizing voice acting! :D
