I wanted to try to make each boy look distinct from each other! I took the game art from each Link’s games, I took the LU art, and threw in my own headcanons to make distinct facial shapes, noses, eyes, ears, and eyebrows! I had so much fun with this! It was difficult and tedious but I really enjoyed it! I love how most of them turned out! (Legend and Sky are eh but I still love them!)

thank you for this ask, anon!! i am so happy to discuss these things. >:3 none of my headcanons are set in stone because i like to play around with different possibilities, but this is where i'm at right now:

like many of the links, he doesn't have any family and never knew his parents.

he joined the military as soon as he could (18?) simply because he didn't know what else to do with his life. but then when he was recognized as the hero while still a trainee, he ended up building his entire identity around being a soldier. now he can't envision any other lifestyle for himself, so he has no plans for his future except to keep fighting until he gets killed (and he suspects that will happen within the next few years).

he's the type of person who makes friends with everyone but isn't truly close with anyone--until he meets the other links. he knows that this adventure is going to be the absolute best time of his life, and that he'll be totally heartbroken when it's over.

when he first fought cia's dark links, he nearly died. mask saved him at the last second.

he knows how to treat any kind of wound because he's done it all before. he's performed field surgery and has comforted a lot of fatally injured people as they die. on some occasions, he's "put people out of their misery" when he couldn't save them, and that haunts him more than anything.

not only has he been captured and tortured, he's had to torture other soldiers to get information. he didn't want to do that, of course, but he couldn't disobey orders. (ahem, um, i'm maybe writing a fic related to these things... gave a sneak peek of it recently.)

unsurprisingly, he has ptsd. it was especially bad in the immediate aftermath of the war. he's doing a lot better now, though he still sometimes has night terrors, nightmares, flashbacks.

at some point during the war, he and mask started sleeping in the same tent so they could wake each other up from nightmares. most nights, at least one of them would need to be woken up.

he's very good at shutting down his emotions in order to deal with problems logically. he is not very good at appropriately dealing with those emotions later.

Linked Universe Eye Colors

I saw another eye color headcanon post, and I wanted to throw my own headcanons down! Wild: lilies in water. a tranquil color. could be described as a less intense version of twilight's. nears the categorization of grey, but is still saturated enough to look blue even at distance. a very soothing color -- depending on the person, may even lend a hand to comforting distress #5C7E8D

Twilight: ice. a cold color. like a huskie dog, he has very pale and piecing eyes. they are light enough that they themselves can become sunburnt if he isn't careful. like sky's, his eyes lean a bit green, but he remains solidly in the blue-eyed category. #87ADA8

Time: pond. it ripples from the middle, like a stone dropped in water. he has blue eyes with a hazel ring around his pupil, creating a larger palate of colors. #5F8895

Warriors: river blue. a clear river that is too deep to wade through but not so horribly deep that it's impossible to see the bottom. because of how saturated the hue is, he has a very striking gaze. #2D6793

Legend: blue-grey. like storm clouds. when it's sunny out, they get very pale and more blue in hue, but when not in light they very much just appear as grey. #546E8C

Hyrule: forest shadows. the undersides of the canopy. while his eyes are green, they look more brown at a distance or glance. it is quite a dark hue. #475034

Sky: glacial. when the snow melts off the glaciers in spring, it turns the river a vibrant blue-green. his is less saturated than proper glacial melt, but is still light enough that at a glance his eyes are bright. much more green leaning than the other blue-eyed links. #517984

Wind: rainforest mud. a natural, dark green after the rain comes. technically green, but falls into the realm of hazel especially at distance. one of the darker colors of the group. #525940

Four: earthy, muddy green. moss on the side of a tree and ferns in the underbrush. it's "green", but from a distance it can look more hazel. as per what seems to be the generally accepted headcanon, he has flecks that seem to change colors with whatever part of his personality is strongest at the moment. #51562E
