Aithne Allaway || 26 years old || Potions

Biography

                         Aithne’s father was a wizard and her mother a Fae. She had the option of going to either Beauxbatons, Durmstrang, or Hogwarts. Having heard the reputation that Durmstrang had she opted to not go there and had to decide between Hogwarts and Beauxbatons. Eventually she settled on Beauxbatons. She had a younger brother who was also half Fae, but he chose to go to Durmstrang where he did not thrive and ultimately died when she was in her fifth year of school. Aithne harbors a great dislike for that particular school.

                     After she’d graduated from Beauxbatons Aithne traveled around doing jobs here and there. She has very little knowledge about Muggles. Aithne is extremely patient, kind, unwaveringly loyal, and fiercely protective to those she deems worthy. When approached about teaching Potions at Hogwarts she accepted, viewing this as a type of adventure.

                    She excels at the more subtle types of magic. While in school Potions, herbology, and charms were her best subjects. She enjoys teaching for the most part, though there are a few who test her patience sometimes. It takes a great deal to actually set Aithne off and actually get her angry. Originally she had hoped to work for the Ministry of Magic, but ended up doing something entirely different. She never imagined herself teaching, but that’s where she, happily, ended up.

The Wand

→ Larch Wood

Strong, durable and warm in colour, larch has long been valued as an attractive and powerful wand wood. Its reputation for instilling courage and confidence in the user has ensured that demand has always outstripped supply. This much sought-after wand is, however, hard to please in the matter of ideal owners, and trickier to handle than many imagine. I find that it always creates wands of hidden talents and unexpected effects, which likewise describes the master who deserves it. It is often the case that the witch or wizard who belongs to the larch wand may never realise the full extent of their considerable talents until paired with it, but that they will then make an exceptional match.

→ Dragon heartstring

As a rule, dragon heartstrings produce wands with the most power, and which are capable of the most flamboyant spells. Dragon wands tend to learn more quickly than other types. While they can change allegiance if won from their original master, they always bond strongly with the current owner. The dragon wand tends to be easiest to turn to the Dark Arts, though it will not incline that way of its own accord. It is also the most prone of the three cores to accidents, being somewhat temperamental.

→ 13 1/4″ inches

Many wandmakers simply match the wand length to the size of the witch or wizard who will use it, but this is a crude measure, and fails to take into account many other, important considerations. In my experience, longer wands might suit taller wizards, but they tend to be drawn to bigger personalities, and those of a more spacious and dramatic style of magic. Neater wands favour more elegant and refined spell-casting. However, no single aspect of wand composition should be considered in isolation of all the others, and the type of wood, the core and the flexibility may either counterbalance or enhance the attributes of the wand’s length. Most wands will be in the range of between nine and fourteen inches. While I have sold extremely short wands (eight inches and under) and very long wands (over fifteen inches), these are exceptionally rare. In the latter case, a physical peculiarity demanded the excessive wand length. However, abnormally short wands usually select those in whose character something is lacking, rather than because they are physically undersized (many small witches and wizards are chosen by longer wands).

→ Slightly yielding flexibility

A wand with this flexibility is happy in anyone’s hands, but this disadvantage is somewhat off-set by the fact that this wand does exceptionally well in just about every area of magic. Owners of this wand flexibility come with a very wide variety of personalities, but they do share a very high level of adaptability to just about any situation and an easy-going nature.

BIOGRAPHY

Coming from a well-known old wizarding family, Lottie was well immersed in the magical world before she could speak. To understand how important her name is within the magical community: her ancestors were the ones who founded Académie de Magie Beauxbâtons or as many others just refer to as Beauxbatons. As such, her family history traces back to France’s early days where various La Bouffs intermingled with high nobility and royalty. After founding the school, the La Bouff family rose in both ranks and prestige within the muggle and magical communities where the La Bouff’s had opened a farm; a winery for muggles and secret store for the magical community which ranged in items from wand wood, books, to rare ingredients. With money in hand, some of the La Bouff line moved across the sea to the new world to forge new business ventures. 

Upon their arrival, the family was an integral part in the new world’s magical community ( being an already prominent family in Europe ) where they- along with other witches and wizards, formed the Magical Congress of the United States of America; this would be the institution that governed the blossoming nation in the centuries to come. Branching out across the new nation, the La Bouff family found its way through the deep south and finally settled permanently, becoming one of the founding families of New Orleans. 

Lottie’s story begins when her father Atticus, son of the infamous and ruthless businessman & Wizard Rowland La Bouff, falls in love with a muggle-born witch- Mariah Durand. Rowland frowned upon his son’s choice since she wasn’t a pureblood, and held onto the belief that wizarding lines should stay pure. But despite arguments and fights, Atticus married Mariah, leading to the birth of the La Bouff heiress, Charlotte ( Lottie ). When Lottie turned five, Mariah died; her father died when she turned seventeen. Now as the only remaining La Bouff, pressure is being put on Lottie by her grandfather to uphold the family name where her father had failed.

But despite the stress put upon her by her grandfather and Aunt Cordelia, Lottie still remains the happiest, bubbliest person there is. It’s almost to the point of annoying, but people can’t help but to love her, sometimes for the wrong reasons. She is from one of the wealthiest families in the muggle and wizarding world, after all. On more than one occasion, Lottie found that her ❝ friends ❞ weren’t actually friends; instead, using her for money. And although she may be rich, Charlotte is far from being the annoying, spoiled, rich girl that most people make her out to be. 

THE WAND

→ LILAC/ROSEWOOD COMBO

LILAC wands favor those who are loving (romantic), compassionate, protective, driven and observant. The owners of such wands tend to see beauty and beautiful traits in things more clearly then others and are compassionate and driven in any challenge or endeavor they face. Such wands often enhance love and compassion, especially through use of charms involving love and passion. Those wizards and witches that are in the profession of matchmaking or caring for animals and people, such as farmers, gardeners, doctors and nurses, are known to own such wands or a combination wand featuring the best traits of both, such as a Lilac/Rosewood wand or a Lilac/Plum wand. By itself, such a wand often sputters out in The Dark Arts, but depending on the core and the wand combination, it can make for a powerful wand to use in the Dark Arts. 

ROSEWOOD favors those who are compassionate, protective, caring, loving and kind-hearted. Often seen by wand makers as the ‘Love Wood’, owners of such wands are often seen as some of the most loving, compassionate, kind and caring people known, thus, makes such people particularly good with children and animals. The owners of rosewood wands tend to find their profession as a nurse or as a caretaker of some kind as well as possessing the ability to see the beauty in everyone and everything. Such people who own Rosewood wands have a passion for plants, therefore, may find their greatest strength in herbology and gardening. Such wands are seen as the more powerful, superior twin to that of wands made of plum wood, since much of the favored personality traits between the two types of wand are so similar.

→ UNICORN HAIR & FAIRY WING CORE

UNICORN HAIR symbolizes Innocence and Purity. Those who are full of spirit, sweet, gentle, cheerful, value family and friendship, are dependable, laid back, humble, independent, caring, loyal and/or duel-natured (being of both good and bad) would have this wand core. Having such a wand core suggests that you are optimistic and free spirited but also loving and kind-hearted, with strong family values. Unicorn Hair cores are an incredibly love-centric wand core and often instill encouragement and confidence into their owners. Unicorn Hair cores generally produce the most consistent magic, and are least subject to fluctuations and blockages. Wands with unicorn hair cores are generally the most difficult to turn to the Dark Arts (with the exception of those with Unicorn Heartstring) and are the most faithful of all wands. They usually remain strongly attached to their first owner, irrespective of whether he or she was an accomplished witch or wizard. Minor disadvantages of unicorn hair cores are that they do not make the most powerful wands (although depending on the wand type, the wand wood can and may compensate) and that they are prone to melancholy if seriously mishandled, meaning that the hair may ‘die’ and thus will need replacing. 

FAIRY WING cores favor those who are light-hearted, free-spirited, caring, kind, out-going, social, happy and cheerful would have this wand core. Having such a wand core suggests that you respond well in social and public gatherings, as well as sharing a kinship with animals and nature in general. You often light up a room with your kind and caring nature, which makes you a central focus at any party or social hub. You often loath unjust violence and injustice for the same reasons that anyone else does, but are still quite capable of using force to teach someone a lesson or to get your point across when need be.

→ SUPPLE

→ PRISCILLA COURTEMANCHE: ( cousin / NPC ) Priscilla is Lottie’s cousin, from the La Bouff side, from her Aunt Cordelia ( her father’s sister). Priscilla is- in not so many words- incredibly mean. It’s honestly hard to see how any of the La Bouffs are related to Lottie since their personalities are so opposite. With Priscilla coming from the prominent Courtemanche wizarding family, Priscilla thinks herself better than others. She is incredibly clever, but also incredibly backstabbing. It’s no wonder that she was sorted into Slytherin. It’s one of her past times to bring Lottie down at all times; she reminds her cousin that she is a shame to the La Bouff name.  → NONE ATM, HMU

BIOGRAPHY

As a daughter of a magical mother and a muggle father, magic was of little importance when it came to royal line. There had been rumors that centuries ago there were many witches and wizards in the Arendlson family- but now, only Elsa remains. With her mother being a witch, it had to be kept somewhat of a secret from the rest of the family ( minus her father and sister ) in order to not stir up negative feelings. Elsa’s mother taught her daughter what she could, but it was easy to see that the eldest royal-blood was a natural. Her magic grew at an enormous rate, causing an accident which nearly resulted the death of Elsa’s younger sister. 

Since that point, Elsa became a recluse, refusing to get close to her sister or anyone else for fear of hurting anyone else. Everything changed when both parents died in a tragic accident at sea, leaving the eldest daughter to pick up the remaining pieces. Thinking that it would be better to be trained by professionals so she can be with her sister again, Elsa packed up her things and left Norway, arriving at the best possible place; Hogwarts. 

In school, Elsa mostly keeps to herself. She is one of the top students in each of her classes, and excels at everything she is taught. But when left to herself, her mind wanders back to the incident, and it often ends with her magic being unleashed to the unsuspecting Ravenclaw house. But, Elsa’s working on getting her emotions in check, learning to  ❝ let it go. ❞  

THE WAND

→ ROSEWOOD WITH ORNATELY CARVED CROCUS FLOWERS IN BEECH HANDLE

ROSEWOOD favors those who are compassionate, protective, caring, loving and kind-hearted. Often seen by wand makers as the ‘Love Wood’, owners of such wands are often seen as some of the most loving, compassionate, kind and caring people known, thus, makes such people particularly good with children and animals. The owners of rosewood wands tend to find their profession as a nurse or as a caretaker of some kind as well as possessing the ability to see the beauty in everyone and everything. BEECH WOOD favors those who are strong willed, level-headed, calm, learned, wise, creative and with strength of character. Along with favoring the resolute and the scrupulous, Beech wands also favor the shrewd and the creative, which also makes this wand type quite suitable for those of House Ravenclaw. Beech is a strong, neutral wood but it has no particular strengths or weaknesses, with the exception that it functions less effectively underwater. Such a wand works best with those who are skilled in the Care Of Magical Creatures, particularly with stubborn magical creatures such as Thestrals. The true match for a beech wand will be, if young, wise beyond his or her years, and if full-grown, rich in understanding and experience. Beech wands perform very weakly for the narrow-minded and intolerant. Such wizards and witches, having obtained a beech wand without having been suitably matched (yet coveting this most desirable, richly hued and highly prized wand wood), have often presented themselves at the homes of learned wandmakers such as Ollivander himself, demanding to know the reason for their handsome wand’s lack of power. → AUGUREY ( IRISH PHOENIX ) FEATHER  & DEMIGUISE HAIR 

Those who are often misunderstood, wise, ready-minded, free spirited, reclusive, pure of heart and courageous would have this wand core. Having such a wand core suggests that your motives and intentions are often a mystery or are often misunderstood or wrongfully misrepresented as being someone of an untrusting or evil nature. Despite your reclusive nature, you are ready, willing and able to learn things, be it on your own or with the help of some loyal and trustworthy companion. Loyalty is often a rather strong trait found among this type of wand core, just as is the case of a regular Phoenix Tail Feather cores. This is one of the best cores to use in divination & spells of prophecy. 

DEMIGUISE: Those who are shy, level-headed, down to earth, humble, quiet, dependable, good-natured and detached would have this wand core. Having such a wand core suggests that you steer away from the limelight, often being reclusive and hidden away from the eyes of other fellow wizards and witches. Though your quiet and reclusive nature may suggest that you are weak-willed and fearful, in truth, you are quite capable of defending yourself relentlessly and ruthlessly when need be.

→ BRITTLE

A wand with this flexibility tends to attach itself quickest to owners who have insecurities, and its level of loyalty is often dependent on how loyal the owner is to it. Should it become very loyal to its original owner, new owners often won’t get the chance to earn the wand’s loyalty before it breaks. Brittle wands are best suited to subtle and delicate magic, such as transfiguration and non-verbal spell-casting. Because they break easy, their owners should be careful to avoid magic that is unnecessarily flashy or explosive, especially if the wand also has a dragon heartstring core. BIOGRAPHY

Kira grew up moving from city to city, country to country never exactly knowing why. Regardless of their moves, she was always happy; she made friends and found the best in her situation. Her childhood was normal- nothing was out of ordinary that she could remember; completely MAGIC-LESS. The only thing that made Kira doubt everything she knew was overhearing her parents from time to time mention a ❝ nogitsune, ❞ having an intuitive feeling that whatever it was- was the cause of all the moves through her childhood. Other times she would see her mother do things that made her think she was seeing things. After some time, the Yukimura family settled in Britian. 

But it was also about this time that mysterious happenings followed: deaths, fires, everything bad that could happen- occurred all at once. That’s when Kira’s magic appeared. Mrs. Yukimura could no longer hold back the fact that she and daughter were both magical creatures; ancient Japanese fox spirits called Kitsune… and she and Kira were the last of the Yukimura line. Her father was a completely ordinary muggle that Noshiko had happened to fall in love with in her 900 years of life- which of course, was a surprise. ( Mostly finding out her mother was 900 years old ). Telling her daughter the complete truth of WHY the family kept moving was the most difficult for Kira to swallow; it was because her Mother was the cause of the creation of the Nogitsune. Noshiko had been tracking the spirit since 1942, but she was able to contain the evil spirit with magic; at least it was, until an earthquake caused the magical seal to be broken on the spirit- releasing it into the unsuspecting world. 

By working together with her mother, Kira’s abilities as a half-Kitsune grew into abilities that many other witches and wizards could dream of- but not without consequence. Eventually managing to kill the evil nogitsune spirit, the event somehow triggered Kira’s own Kitsune abilities go out of control. Knowing that this magic was far more powerful than her own, Mrs. Yukimura enrolled Kira into Hogwarts. There, Noshiko was sure that Kira could get the teaching she needed to control her own powers while being watched over by the best witches and wizards in the magical world. 

Adjusting to Hogwarts was somewhat difficult to the newly magical Kira. But, the wand helped; especially with the Kitsune Claw core given to Kira by her mother. Eventually, Hogwarts became home to the fox-girl. There were times when her powers would manifest on their own, causing some discontent and unhappiness among the staff and some of her peers as well as being taunted by others saying she was a mud-blood- if  ❝ they could even consider her one. ❞ But overall, Kira loves being with others who have magic and understand that she isn’t just a FOX.

THE WAND

→ CHERRY WOOD Favors those who are humble, level-headed, grounded, clear in thought, intuitive, akin to the salt of the earth, fair, true and willing to do anything once. A wand made of Cherry wood with a Phoenix Tail Feather core is a particularly agreeable combination for a Light wizard or witch that is without particularly prodigious magical talents. Such a wand also works well with amateur wizards and witches who don’t often flaunt their magical talents. Often used by those wizards and witches whose main occupation is that of farming and/or gardening. Cherry wands are also a very earthy type of wand, assisting in clear and present thought. This wand type often favors those wizards and witches who are level-headed, grounded and are akin to the salt of the Earth, just a the cherry wands also help with keeping a level head. This is one of those wands that works well in all magical subjects, except in The Dark Arts. This rare wand wood creates a wand of strange power, most highly prized by the wizarding students of the School of Mahoutokoro in Japan, where those who own cherry wands have special prestige. The Western wand-purchaser should dispel from their minds any notion that the pink blossom of the living tree makes for a frivolous or merely ornamental wand, for cherry wood often makes a wand that possesses truly lethal power, whatever the core, but if given a Dragon Heartstring core, the wand ought never to be paired with a wizard without exceptional self-control and strength of mind.

→ KITSUNE CLAW  Those who were wise, cunning, strong-willed, shrewd and outspoken would have this wand core. Having such a wand core suggested that one was known for being wise beyond their years. The shrewd and cunning nature of the owners of this wand core often gave them an advantage over other wizards and witches, may they be Light or Dark. The owners of this wand core were also known for having great intellect as well as being strong-willed and stubborn, able to weather any and all troubles, trials and tribulations that came their way. The owners of this wand core were known for being outspoken, speaking their mind on things that matter most to them. Some owners of this wand core were also known for being driven and spirited, able to achieve their set goals quickly and accurately. The owners of this wand core were sometimes known for being spontaneous, doing certain things at the spur of the moment.

They may find it difficult to understand views that differ from their own but are usually able to politely disagree.

The alumni of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry all share the same sentiments when asked about their time in school- Hogwarts will always be their home. As each of the four houses have paved the path to greatness for many, it’s become time to watch as the next great generation walks the halls.

                          Will you find yourself in Slytherin, among the ambitious witches and wizards who seek greatness, and have the resourcefulness and cunning in which to make it happen?                           Or will you find yourself in Ravenclaw, among the smartest of the bunch, whose wit and creativity make them a tough rival to be fought?                           If you should be looking for friends, you may find them among the badgers of Hufflepuff, as they are the kindest of them all, their loyalty and patience making them a valuable asset to those who should need them.                           And in the house of Godric Gryffindor dwell the bravest ones we know, and may their daring, nerve, and chivalry help them in their quest.

There are four choices to be made, and none of them easy- but everyone will swear to you that wherever you may find your bed, you’ll find a place among your own.

School Rules;

— All students must be within their respective house dormitories by 9 pm on school nights, and 10 pm on weekends. Males are not permitted entrance to the female dorm rooms. — Sixth and seventh year students are permitted to visit Hogsmeade on the weekend, but said privilege maybe revoked if said students’ grades are non satisfactory. — This verse will only accept students in their sixth and seventh years, between the ages of 16-18.
