Tumblr ‘How To’s

I had no idea about Tumblr’s shadowban until it happened to me. Since then, surprisingly quite a few number of people have texted me about them getting shadowbanned as well. Now that I’m aware of it, I realize it’s becoming increasingly common for legit blogs like mine to get shadowbanned for no reason at all. So hope this helps everyone who has to unnecessarily go through this.

What does shadowban exactly mean?

Basically, your blog exists and mostly functions as it normally would, but Tumblr has made it invisible to everyone else. Tumblr lets you believe that everything is fine and that you can interact with others, but actually you can’t. (Look at the wikipedia definition here.)

Why does this happen?

From what I understand, blogs get shadowbanned since they are suspected of being bots, or just sketchy, or they might be going against Tumblr’s guidelines. I’m not sure, but it might also happen if someone has reported your blog. 

But more often than not, it’s just a tumblr glitch. 

How to tell if your blog has been shadowbanned? And most of the things that happen during this state.

(These are the things that I personally went through. It might not be the same for everyone. Also, my main blog (@that-damn-girl) was shadowbanned. My side-blogs were fine. So in case your main blog is fine but your side blog is shadowbanned, you might have a different experience.)

Vivsiepop is so bad at drawing non white characters, Its honestly insane to know she went to art school and never learned how to draw a hair texture other than straight. No braids, afros, Astro-puffs, dreadlocks, etc? your telling me that this rich ass lady couldn't even buy someone else's characters designs? Millie's hair is entirely straight, Husk has white fur all over his face, Sera has the tiniest hit of dreadlocks and that's being generous, Emily just has a black voice actor that's it, Velvette only gets an afro in the very last episode in which she doesn't have a single line! Vortex has never been important, and Ozzie doesn't have hair (which is fine character design just cant be counted as drawing other hair textures.)

And you may ask 'why is a white person critiquing the drawing of black characters?' My question to you is why are you only hearing a white person critique the drawings of black characters? Lots of POC have talked about this you just might not have been listening until it was a white girl.

straight up if you're an artist who makes sonic fanart and someone approaches you to draw sonic / my little pony crossover art as a request aka for free Do Not Do It. demand compensation. this person has been going around asking every fucking artist in the fandom to do it FOR MONTHS. don't give them any more free labor i'm genuinely sick of this shit. god bless

amy rose should be allowed to be as unabashedly twelve as possible and while i’m grateful that she’s been freed from the weird misogynistic caricature hell she was trapped in during the early 2000s, i feel like the newer takes sometimes lean a little too hard into mom girlbossification. she should have mabel pines-esque sticker-covered diaries and a shelf full of tina belcher-style friendfiction. she is not pepper potts!!!

AyyLmao’s description of Stella in his Jax video is very weird to me. Like he says that Stella was always shown to be an abusive asshole with little care for Octavia but like. Since when was Stella not caring for Octavia ever shown…?

We don’t actually know Stella’s relationship with Octavia, we just know that she takes her out on weekends (which actually contradicts what AyyLmao is saying, cuz if she didn’t care about Octavia then why would she take her out?).

The only thing that kind of implies that Stella doesn’t care about Octavia is her not wanting to get out of bed when she’s crying in Loo Loo Land…but…that doesn’t really make her not caring for her child. It could just mean that she was too tired to get out of bed.

Once again AyyLmao tries (and fails) to defend Viv’a bad writing. Cool.

Seriously, most salt fics that have Chloe redemption suck, they either:

Have Chloe still be a horrible person, but only to the people who opposed Marinette, so now it's A-OK!

Or Have her become Marinette's new friend, which just feels so unearded, it probably would take years for Marinette to even consider Chloe a friend after all she's done to her, yet we're expected to believe she would instantly welcome Chloe with open arms?
