🐉 Fic Update: Criston Cole Chapter is Live! 🐉
AO3 link: Criston II - Blackhaven
Blackhaven would fall. And Criston Cole would be the one to pull it down, stone by stone.
New chapter is up, and it’s Criston’s POV — bitter, brutal, and full of ghosts. This is his Winterfell moment, if you know what I mean: he’s come home to Blackhaven not as a son, but as an executioner. Two paths were offered — quill or sword — and, of course, he chose the blade.
This chapter was inspired by a delightfully cursed mix of:
Heathcliff (yes, that one — I swear I hate Wuthering Heights, don’t @ me)
Theo Greyjoy in A Clash of Kings
A pinch of García Márquez (Rebeca Buendía and the sack of bones? Yeah. That’s now Criston’s armor bag.)
If you love:
men barely keeping it together through cold fury
poetic war crimes
unspoken childhood trauma
haunted objects and thematic props
…then congratulations, Criston is now your problem, too.
🔪 Full chapter is up on AO3 📚 Recurring motifs: the armor bag, broken hands, ghosts 🧠 Criston is spiraling but so competent about it 🕯 Next time we see him, he's going full war commander

Intro?
✨ Hello again, Tumblr. It’s been a minute.
I’m [abaddonKhaleesi] from over on AO3, where I write my current book series "The Dragon's Heirs' and commit the occasional literary war crime (usually via Criston Cole). I used to Tumblr-blog back in the pre-Yahoo era and now I’m crawling back out of my cave to scream about fics, dragons, bitter men, family trees, and all the behind-the-scenes nonsense that can’t fit in AO3 author’s notes (though I do try).
This blog will be:
Fic updates & news
Teasers, cut scenes, family trees
Retcon alerts (because yes, we’re rewriting some things)
Occasional Wuthering Heights-related breakdowns
Tag rambles and reactions
Maybe memes. Probably memes.
Follow if you want to ride this Valyrian mess with me. Let’s make Tumblr unhinged again.

About me!
Hi! I’m a huge history nerd who somehow turned an obsession with European dynasties into an excuse to write overly ambitious character-driven fanfic. Most of my work is loosely (or sometimes not-so-loosely) inspired by real historical figures, events, and general royal messiness.
My main areas of interest are England and France, just because that’s where most of my historical knowledge comes from. I gravitate toward the Plantagenets (especially from Henry II to Edward III) and juicy moments from the Hundred Years’ War (John the Fearless’ death? Endlessly dramatic). I also have a soft spot for the chaotic dynamics between the Hanoverian kings and their sons—George II and Frederick of Wales are practically a case study in father-son drama, and I love channeling that kind of tension into my characters.
When it comes to inspiration, I pull from just about everywhere: anime, historical dramas, books, politics, long YouTube video essays—and above all, music. Music is essential to how I write. I have entire playlists built around my fics and characters, carefully curated to get me into the exact right emotional or dramatic headspace. (Yes, I have a playlist just for plotting character betrayals. Yes, it’s 90% dramatic orchestral pieces and sad French songs.)
If you're into messy dynasties, emotionally complex characters, smut with feelings, and a sprinkle of political scheming, you’ll probably feel right at home here.
