Let’s recap my random happenings for the last couple weeks….

I reopened my nose piercing after having it out for 12 years. I walked around most of the day with my (sterilized) sewing pin until my studs were delivered. This was a spur of the moment and wasn’t as bad as I thought it would be.

Also, hello. 👋

A lot of my energy has been going towards my little patio garden. I’ve been repurposing and thrifting items for it. I did purchase my cheapie rug with Fetch points which is surprisingly nice. The garden is actually thriving this year and I believe it’s because I kept it a manageable size for my energy levels. Say hello to my little darkness, Sugar.

Had a repeat customer for some 4H vinyl decals. Paid handsomely with fresh vinyl that I was able to keep the leftovers, and $25 for labor. So now I have permanent white, and shimmer emerald green/black. There was more to this order but I’m not posting their names.

It’s no secret that I’m a dumpster fire diver. I WILL go after something I know can be used or repurposed. This Plano Stowaway was right on top and I had to have it. It was beat up, had random stickers on it, writing that said they loved some k pop singers, and unfortunately there was some… paraphernalia, but all was disposed of properly. The unit was thoroughly cleaned and disinfected and given a fresh paint job. I am in love because all of my beading and jewelry supplies are in one place. I’m reaching out to Plano to see if they will sell me some replacement dividers. I utilized strategic placement with my SkullCandy sticker to hide some unsavory carving I couldn’t quite fix with the heat gun.

To round it all out, I was out back working on making a tabletop fountain (pictured, top left) from a Dollar Store Halloween globe and an old pump I pulled from my stash. My cat was enjoying some outside time… until she saw another cat before I did.

For 15 years old, that little wench moves fast. She exploited an unsecured bottom of the chicken wire and almost made it underneath. Mind you, the neighbors poor calico is beautiful and friendly as can be, in fact she could probably make friends with a badger. She literally stood there frozen with horror as this demonic entity tried to come after her. Sugar has never been friendly with other cats for some reason. She sees red the moment another cat is around. She’s always been like this despite having the most calm and sweet personality.

For the record, I actually blamed myself for what happened. I did not get to Sugar in time to grab her by the scruff of her neck. She was already halfway under when I grabbed her, and since I didn’t get her scruff to pull her back it gave her enough leeway to turn around and land a good bite on me. This is the first time EVER that she’s bit me. It was my fault because the grab was so sudden and she probably thought I was another cat.

Needless to say, she gave me three good punctures, since she’s missing a tooth. I eventually used a Teledoc that day to acquire some antibiotics because, indoor or outdoor, a cat’s saliva can cause infection even if fully vaccinated. The holes have since closed because somehow they were clean holes, and the swelling has gone down.

Sugar didn’t know what to do with herself afterwards, she knew she made a mistake. I assured her she was fine, but her butt was grounded for a few days.

So yeah, PSA to the neighbor cats, the chicken wire is there to keep the tiny demon in.

𝑂𝑛𝑒 𝑦𝑒𝑎𝑟 𝑙𝑎𝑡𝑒𝑟...

Dante was binned yet again. The last time I touched him was over a year ago. I love his character but the doll has always frustrated me. The sculpt was not quite what I expected. Even after some modding and a dye job I still couldn’t connect.

I picked him out of the bin due to boredom and the fact that Rynn and I are having a disagreement about her paint job.

He has a wonderful face up, one that I’m actually kinda proud of.

Here’s the only photo of him from a year ago. I was convinced I was over him and deleted everything.

Not gonna lie, I’ve been kinda craving a dark skinned elf man, so let’s give this mod a shot.

I used Milliput Suoerfine for this task. I didn’t bother trying to tint because I was going to blend with the airbrush. (Spoiler alert, his tone was SO FN HARD TO MATCH. I wasted so much paint.)

I mostly used a cheap synthetic brush to push and shape the ears. An abundant amount of water helped blend the ears down, but also created a mess that required careful cleaning. The amount of qtips and precision qtips I went through was almost sinful.

The ears did clean up nicely. I was pleased with the amount of blending and smoothness I achieved with the brush.

As I said before, the skin tone match was a nightmare. Dante had a warm tone with hints of mahogany/warm orange? It’s definitely lovely to stare at.

I’m not very good with colors, I’ve always struggled with them. I’m thankful for google and other people who are adept in color theory because it definitely helped.

Okay, okay, maybe a slight shade off, but I’ll take it! (I had to edit out boobs, sorry.) I was also playing with iridescent cling film because I can never do one thing at a time and now everything has to be iridescent.

This ear did not blend as well as the other, which I only noticed after the paint but I had to work fast because the apoxie was setting up. I am certainly not going to fuss over it right now because this project was difficult as is. My hands wouldn’t cooperate, the sheer amount of paint, stabbing myself (again,) and the fact that the pot of paint I was using literally flew out of my hand and somehow missed everything but me. I discovered brown paint on my chest and I have no idea how it got there since I was wearing a full tee.

I think Dante is back. He’s stolen Night’s body temporarily just so I can look at him for the evening. 😌

He will certainly need a little beefier of a body in the future, not Ringdoll chonk but like, maybe DF-H 68 or something like what Kit has.

The new diorama corner

Moved to a new place. No lovely floor length windows for natural light on the diorama like in the previous place, so I had to make do and make my own fake window with an ceiling light panel that I added a plug for.

It's a bit more cluttered of a room than before, but oh well, that's what happens after some time passes. You just keep accumulating stuff 😅 He's got LoZ merch, CCS merch, a gundam model, (real) manga with fully printed pages, plants, plushies, a doll, laptop, a switch, food/games (hidden in drawers). Eventually he'll have a CD collection as well.

For a sense of scale, Junha is 65cm tall and Ringo, the cat is 14lbs.

Starts with body modification.

For reference, this is Rynn. An Iplehouse Grace on a Miracle Doll 68 muscle body.

Don’t get me wrong, I very much love her body and is suits her perfectly. My biggest peeve? She hates standing upright.

I’ve wired and sueded her, but the sheer heft of her body makes it to where she will buckle at the hip joints, often head butting me in the process of posing.

I’m over it. Today that ends.

The plan? Carve out a top portion of the ball joint in the hip, creating a catch so the hip joint will click into place when standing upright.

I stood her straight and traced where I wanted the lip to be on both sides.

I don’t have photos of in progress, but I simply took my dremel with barrel sander attachment and followed the line, taking down the hip about 3mm? I went back with a precision diamond bit and sharpened the line up. The key part about this process is to go slow and check your progress often. You can always take off a little more resin, but you can’t put it back

The result!

You can see some slight divots where my dremel got a bit crazy. I took off from around the top areas so the joint would sit deeper in the socket. I did not take any from the sides, and if I did it was very minimal for blending purposes.

I went over the sanded areas with 320, 400, and finally 600 grit Wet/Dry sandpaper. It almost looks like it was meant to be. The final fit is almost flawless.

When she is ready to be assembled again, there will be no more head butting

She is currently in the process of being blushed and customized. Here is a sneak peek at what’s to come. This was a test run before I wiped her.

Sometimes I get a harsh reminder on just how old some of these guys are. Beneath Rynn’s paint is a very yellowed tone. She’s being refreshed to match her Miracle Doll body.

Imagine my surprise when I opened up Minecraft and found one of my Allays had turned golden!

I’m a casual solo Minecraft player. Both of my sons play. I’ll go through phases of incredible investment then I can drop it for weeks or even months. It’s an option that I keep in case my body decides to retaliate against me, since it requires little physical effort.

Honestly wish I could figure out how to make epic builds with those plans on Patreon. But I only run on IPad Pro and the information is confusing.

Anyways, I’ve been taking of break from working with my hands too much. I’ve been cut, poked, stabbed, and shredded from various projects of my own concoction. One cut is infected and the others are just sore; not to mention my hands feel stiff.

I’m hoping my body hasn’t created another fuckery for me to deal with. In its own defense I have abused my hands a lot during my life so I’m sure they are retaliating with good reason.

The bird pictured is Puff, my Eurasian Collared Dove. Supervisor of projects, demander of snacks, and guardian of naps.

I very much like using Legos for my mold boxes. It’s almost like a decompression moment, because taking the bricks apart means that the job is done. I also like the clinking they make.

𝐏𝐒𝐀: 𝐃𝐨𝐧'𝐭 𝐋𝐢𝐜𝐤 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐑𝐞𝐬𝐢𝐧

So I pulled a dumbass move this morning.

I tried to do a quick fix on my crochet hook handle this morning after I noticed a crack at the tip and obviously I didn’t want to make a mold with it as is.

Broke out my UV resin and exacto. I was cleaning up the broken bits around the crack and being the klutz I am with any sharp object, I accidentally stabbed myself in the thumb.

Instant blood droplets on the handle, and my knee-jerk reaction was to put the cut in my mouth to contain the bleeding.

Instantaneous, godawful, chemical taste.

Somehow, I had gotten some UV resin on my thumb and didn’t realize it until it was too late. I walked to the bathroom with my tongue hanging out of my mouth like an idiot and promptly scrubbed my mouth out, probably to an extreme.

I managed to get the taste out, then stared at the back of the bottle wondering if I should call poison control. (spoiler alert, I did.)

I felt so stupid, people. It was such a dumbass move! But shout out to Amy at Poison Control who laughed with me and told me my day hasn’t come yet. Turns out you have to ingest more than a drop for any serious side effects. I could expect a bit of mouth irritation if it gets mad enough, but so far I haven’t had a reaction. Was told to drink plenty of water and avoid spice/irritant food for the day.

So yeah, it’s not the end of the world if you lick it, but please, don’t. That was some nasty right there.
