Watching all this stuff go down in the hotd fandom with ewanmitchellx being harassed and harangued, I just wanna say that no-one owes you their time or attention

Everyone is allowed to block whoever they want, and it's a vital part of enjoying your time online

Whether an account has two followers or two thousand, they don't owe you anything

People have become so entitled to fan service they demand it from other fans now and it's gotta stop

Making alt accounts to contact someone who blocked you, and following them to other platforms is harassment

We've all been surprised and hurt finding ourselves blocked by an account we didn't expect or understand, but you've just got to move on and leave them alone*

*breakdowns of online friendships are a separate issue I'm talking about strangers and vague fandom acquaintances here

I love the House That Dragons Built specials, there's always so much amazing insight from all the different departments and artists who work on the show

It's spectacular stuff and I think it's so generous to share all that knowledge

I'm usually awestruck by what I see, but I think finding out that Jefferson Hall who plays the Lannister twins was genuinely terrified of the monkey and mortified by having to sing might be the thing that's made me laugh the most

My favorite thing about Helaena telling Aemond about his fate is how she does it in multiple tenses.

“You’ll be dead. You were swallowed up in the God’s Eye and you are never seen again.”

Future, past, present. It’s all jumbled together for her. I really love this detail.

see my thing is that when a character is revealed to have conflicting principles and actions and everyone’s like oh they are such a HYPOCRITE that’s BAD i’m inclined to think it makes them a better and funnier character. on account of my taste

I have so many thoughts about the Helaena/Alicent/Aemond scuffle and I need to get them out:

Alicent tearing Aemond's hand away from Helaena while he gives his version of the "what have I ever done but what was expected of me? upholding the kingdom, the family, the law! what is duty?! what is sacrifice?!" speech

covered in the cloak of his own righteousness, because Rhaenyra cannot rule the kingdom, has always been drawn as a threat to the family, has broken the sacred law which defines Targaryenism

Aemond has lived without love or warmth but he believed it was his sacrifice, his duty, and that was the highest possible calling

brave and noble in his lovelessness, in the image of the person he loves most

the betrayal he feels when Alicent refutes her old speech, a memory which is sacred to him. bound up inextricably with the rest of that night, the night he became a dragonrider, the night he heard his mother fight for him, the night he felt loved and connected and seen

and now Alicent says no

she will not sacrifice Helaena to duty, to the kingdom, for the family

it's like a bomb going off in his heart

at the end Helaena is left - like Rhaenyra in Driftmark and Alicent in the carriage - cradling her injured forearm

but this time the queen isn't the one left with the scar

it's objectively hilarious that helaena went from saying vague prophetic things about her bugs to looking straight at aemond and saying "you will die at the gods eye on may 22nd 130AC at 2pm."

love how Rhaena's quest to get a dragon involved wandering off into unfamiliar territory with absolutely no supplies, doing a very bad job of drinking from a random stream, almost getting hypothermia sleeping with no shelter, and then going right back to staggering through the hills
