hey, its okay!! you really havent killed anyone with this or anything, and genuinely just changing a detail like skin color + nose shape would greatly improve things ! pointed ears in on themselves arent an offensive thing or anything, its really just the combination of things, so its okay! i do like the idea of kayne being elflike, its a really fun idea :)

Anon this is very kind of you, but I don't think I over reacted with my response. Being POC I understand how it feels when you're alienated within a fandom space. To put it bluntly, it sucks. I want fandom to be safe for all! Especially when it's my own blog, some thing I have full control over. I don't want to make other people feel uncomfortable or unwelcome. So part of that means taking accountability when I'm told about something I've done, albeit it unintentionally.

Thank you for the advice! I'll keep the elf inspirations then :) I think I'll make a coloured reference sheet for kayne soon insha allah to fix up the design.

hey uh sorry if this is rude but your kayne design looks a lot like an antisemitic caricature (green skin, pointed ears, long nose, weird teeth, black hair)

Hello. Firstly, it's not rude at all. I draw for fun and to entertain others, and I always want my art to be safe for other people. I greatly appreciate you informing me of how the design came across.

Secondly, I'm very sorry if my kayne design caused any hurt. I was not intending for it to be an antisemitic carciture, and I realize now that a combination of unfortunate design choices has made it such. I'd imagine it's worse that he's almost always covered in blood. I should have been more conscious of the imagery I was using.

I would like to clarify that his skin is not green, it is just the way I coloured the peice that make it appear such (I had actually used yellow for the skin) . Additionally I was intending for him to be more elf like, hence the pointed ears.

Having said that, I can change the design so that it's not a carciture. This is a rough sketch, but is it possible to still have elf features without it being antisemitic?

So making the nose flatter so it's more elf than a hooked nose.

I apologize again for being insensitive, and thank you for your patience with me.

Arthur Lester would be a nightmare to meet or talk to in real life, okay? I need us to realize this as a group of people. He wouldn’t be listening, or even trying to pay attention, or looking at you. (Not Not Holding eye contact, that’s normal, I mean he is actively listening to a voice in his head telling him to turn his entire head and look at other things so it can describe the room to him. I am not talking about normal neurodivergent things here. Arthur Lester would be deeply unsettling in a supernatural way.)

You aren’t as crazy as Percival was to demand a story from a stranger. You’re not as driven as Noel, or predisposed to the dreamworld bullshit like he is. You’re not as fucking delusional as Oscar, Jesus Christ. You’re not his dead wife’s dad. Arthur would not feel obligated to complete small talk. He will not pretend that you are interesting. He will not want to talk to YOU.

Arthur will be straight up talking to nothing right next to you. You have no context for this because he doesn’t wear a bumper sticker that says “demon on board”

He is in active danger, and now so are you. This clearly deeply troubled man is going to get you killed.
