QOT Afterthoughts
Reviews are subjective, everyone has their opinion, what triggered them, what was missed, what didn't make sense, what made their heart flutter and some just don't get the story or didn't pay attention. So I will just drip my feelings on how Queen of Tears made me feel.
I didn't really think about what the plot or characters could do better because I was so deep in this story, the one thing I would of liked was for Hae-in to see the video Baek recorded for her though and I would of liked seeing there life with their kid and them creating new memories with each other.
The chemistry Hae-in and Baek had was like magnets. You could feel it from the flashbacks that they couldn't keep their eyes off each other and even when they hated each other, they secretly still cared for each other and admired each other from afar. They met in every part of their life and saved each other which I really connected with throughout the drama.
The rocky part of their relationship was mourning for someone that is still alive, all because their pain had them underwater and their communication was lost which put their love in a different dimension.
As much as I loved the story of them falling in love, something deeply hit me about them distancing from each other, falling in love again, then tragedy and losing memories became almost being reborn again and falling in love with your destiny all over again. I heard a lot of complaints about the plot and writing, but for me it spoke to me and felt so beautiful, yet a disaster. It's a story I yearned for.
Like many my favorite scenes are the emotional hugs, reconfessions and kisses, but there are a few scenes that didn't only make me cry, but made my heart fall to it's knees.
Hae-in finally admitting she is scared because of her tumor and Baek gives her this hug that you could just feel. This was the moment you could feel Baek still care for her.
Hae-in admiring Baek from her car. Even in her icicle, in her pain, she fell first. Every girl falls in love with a guy on the bus and it was Baek all along. I loved the storytelling to get to him finding out that he was her first love.
Car crash scene. Like many I sobbed for a long time. This was the moment we saw just a glimpse of how Baek would handle Hae-in dying and it was waves of despair. The acting here was phenomenal. You saw that Hae-in didn't want to live, but she decided she will for him. I've seen a lot of shows and movies about losing the memory and this story did it in a way I haven't seen before. Of course anyone would be scared of forgetting someone that meant everything to them and I loved how it was portrayed.
This scene is my favorite and I am going to combine both when it comes to I want to live and don't make me live. Hae-in overhears Baek admitting he just wanted to be by her side in a restaurant, he doesn't know she is at the booth behind him. In that moment she realizes she doesn't want to die, she wants to live for her husband and tells the waitress I want to live too. The second part of this, they are in the Cathedral and Baek chases after Hae-in, he is so scared he is going to lose her and she breaks down asking him to not make her live because if she doesn't remember him, she doesn't want to live. The crying and the hug was so emotional. These two scenes hit me the most, not only the emotion and their chemistry in these two scenes but so many of us have been there regardless if it's mental health, a break up, a death, an illness, or someone we know is ill. We all have moments when we don't want to live and when we want to live or try harder for someone else. Life takes strength and Baek became Hae-in strength, by pushing her past her limits. They say love yourself first, save yourself, but sometimes people come into our life for a reason and that love letter gives us hope, hope is the strongest thing in this world.
Hae-in saying Baek name while going into surgery. I loved the writing with this scene. When I saw this I was amazed and emotional.
Some people loved this drama, some people liked the beginning and some people hated the drama. We all have a string of things that pulls us in, this is my type of writing, and acting. The prologues were done so well, it felt like a diary. My heart strings felt pulled the entire time and unlike some I liked the villains in the story. As much as I enjoyed the love story between the couples, I enjoyed more to the story then just that. Last thing, the ending was so beautiful and all the scenes in german and korea were shot so well.
Thank you queen of tears for giving me a beautiful drama that kept me surviving, living, connecting, and matching the storm in my heart.

I feel this deeply.
tbh, I have been a fan of kim soo hyun during his dream high days. i have watched most of his shows. same with kim ji won. i have watched most of her work and I really liked the choices she made with what kind of characters she wants to portray. i like both ksh and kjw as individual actors. i have NEVER in my years of being a kdrama fan, ever thought if pairing them together and become this huge magnetic pair locally and internationally that everyone knows about their show and almost everyone wants them to be together irl. I have never thought I'll be this invested with another pairing's personal life again *sigh* I used to have this feeling with song song couple and i used to rewatch dots over the years. it's like my comfort kdrama. now, i am binge watching qot and i am excited when i see kjw or ksh post something. added points if their posts have some sort of relation to each other. i'd probably be devastated if they're not gonna be dating in real life but I'm still hoping but if not, I'm still going to be a big fan of them both. i know i sound very delusional (I'm sorry 😔) but the way they made me feel while watching them in queen of tears is beyond any other piece of media wñhas made me feel. so, i truly truly love both kim ji won and kim soo hyun as actors. regardless of their personal relationship, i am happy they're getting all the recognition they have right now. 🩷

A friend just asked me why i just love Queen of Tears so much. Well for one thing, the story telling is unique. We start with what seems like a happily ever after and then reveals that not all is well when the boy and the princess end up together. That even the truest of loves or fated soulmates would end up living unhappy lives or separating because it takes constant communication and hard work to keep relationships alive. And yes, not even love is enough in the end. The show reminded me that love is like a flower or plant that we raise. When it first takes root and blooms, that's not the end of it. Without constant care and genuine love against the elements, the flower can whither and still die. But as long as the roots are there and proper care is done, the flower can bloom again, and so with love. Of course, there's also the fact that BaekHong are genuinely interesting and visually stunning characters, and not the regular poor boy and rich girl trope - they are morally flawed, but one thing is true about them that deep inside they truly and utterly love one another. So yeah, i am so not over them and both will go down as one of my favorite couples of all time.♥️

Queen of Tears

Okay so... I am really happy and sad altogether. I am sad to see this series end cause it was truly a great one to watch. so heartwarming and breaking at the same time.
Tumblr media
But honestly I have to commend the writers on this one. The story had a good balance through out. All actors did really well. they gave a performance of their life. The only actress i did not really like was Hae-in's step grandmother. ( she had no emotions the entire time, it was frustrating to watch)

Germany has become a heaven for them, I will always have to associate the show with Germany now. Especially these stairs.
Tumblr media
just gorgeous landscape.

The story ending this way seems okay, I am not mad about it. After all that has happened in this show. The ending is least of its problems.

This show's Director, Cinematographer and Sound design they need to get an award for this. I mean at all aspects, just beautiful. I would want to work like this. create content that moves people, entertains them while also looking beautiful as hell.
I would recommend this show without a doubt or hesitation.
