Akira Namekata Character Analysis

Physical Characteristics Height: 162 cm (Calculated with the help of Magia Exedra.) Age: 14-15 Hair Color: Unknown (Faded Red based on the doll Miyuki is holding on the back of Vol4) Eye Color: Unknown

Main Story

The first time we see her is when she and Miyuki are trying to calm Komaki down, after that when they have what appears to be a picnic, Akira tells Komaki to not mind the snoby high class girls. The next time we see her she is having a meeting with Koito, through their conversation Koito asks her to try to find out where does Komaki goes at nighttime, and they agree that in the following days they’re going to keep an eye on Komaki, Akira in school and Koito at home. When Komaki notices that Akira is acting sick, so she asks Miyuki to walk her home, and because Akira can’t reveal that she lied (which she doesn’t really does a good job) she has to go along with it. Later that day when Akira is thinking about what is going on with Komaki, her imagination runs wild and comes the idea that Komaki might had become the ”Nightclub Queen servant of Oriko”, because she didn’t wanted to drown in her wild imagination and decided to track Komaki down (with the tracking app she downloaded on Kamkis phone). After she tracked Komaki down, she saw her and Kirika having a fight as magical girls, and when Komaki was dpwn Akira ran up to her to make sure she is and will be okay, unfortunately she was caught by Kirikas claw (Kirika never intended to kill her, and it looks like she didn’t even notice Akira until it was too late).

Other Observations

She, alongside with Komaki Koito and Miyuki are all from middle class families.

Just like Miyuki, Akira doesn’t know about Komaki being a magical girl.

Her personality seems to be a blend betweent Madoka and Sayaka (ofcourse her personality isn’ just a mixture of different characters personalities, it’s just the easiest way to explain it).

Her parents are currently overseas, and the fact that she can just spend the night ”stalking” her friend implies that she lives alone (as of currently).

It appears that she and Miyuki became friends with Komaki after she rescued them from a school fire, in the original manga only Akira is shown while in Exedra it is revealed that Miyuki was present as well.

Miyuji Nagatsuki Character Analysis

Family Not much is known about them.

Main Story

The first time we see her is when she and Akira are trying to calm down a angry Komaki, later when Komaki is complaining about the bullies Miyuki asks her why does she (Komaki) why does she care so much about Oriko (by curiosity, nothing else). We see her again for a short time questioning Komaki, what did she do to their classmate again. In  a later scene when Akira lied to Komaki and said that she drank expired milk, Komaki asks Miyuki to walk Akira home. When Akira acted up because Komaki didn’t picked a fight with Oriko, Miyuki told her if she is sick she shouldn’t worry about other things, she also shared her opinion about how Komaki finally started to act like as an adult. The next time we see Miyuki is in the final chapter, she and Koito are talking about how Komaki hadn’t shown up recently and she asks Koito so she (Miyuki) can go with her (Koito), because she doesn’t want to be left out of her friends troubles anymore. Almost rigth after that they run into Orikos uncle and together they decide to go to Mitakihara High to investigate what happened. When they were searching through the empty school they run into the still mourning Sayaka and Hitomi, and the last scene with Miyuki is her trying to comfort the two mourning friends.

Other Observations

Miyuki seems to be the „older sister” of their friend group, and she is trying to have her friends behave well, and out of the three she is the only one that doesn’t know about magical girls (like Hitomi with Madoka and Sayaka).

Just like Akira and Koito, Miyuki doesn’t know about Komaki being a magical girl. It is unknown if she knows that Koito became a magical girl.

She, alongside with Komaki Koito and Akira are all from middle class families.

UNFORTUNATELY with the limited information that is all I could gather of her. Unlike with the previous three her character isn’t as flashed out.

I finally started doing Miyukis character analisis, and I realised these eight (Mitakihara girls and Shirome girls) kind of share a similiar dynamic among each other.

I was doing the character analisises of Miyuki and Akira and I decided that just like with Erika, use Exedra as a way to determine their heigth. While doing that I also needed to determine Komakis and Koitos heights as well, so here they are:

Komaki Asako 167 cm

Mei Yoshinaga (Headcanon Name) Character Analysis

Physical Characteristics Height: Unknown (Most likely around Mamis height) Age: 14-15 Hair Color: She has a dark hair color (Most likely isn’t black) Eye Color: Unknown

Other Information Schools: Mitakihara High, Third year (Currently)

Main Story

The story presumably starts around her and Mamis first year in junior high. The first we Mei is when she is stalking Mami and their classmates (Kyubey is also with her but her not knowing anything about magical girls bsaically implies that she can’t see him), it is important to point out that she hides because she is too shy and can’t bring herself to talk with Mami (and she has a habit of hiding from people). Mei describes Mami as the perfect girl (perfection incarnate), and for her with Mami came unhappiness afterall (from her perspective) Mami is complately out of her reach (she most likely crushing on her as well). After the itroductions we cut to the time after Mami returned to school from the car crash (that also killed her parents), it is unknown if it was noticed by others or it was just simply Meis perspective, but she describes Mamis loneliness as someone looking back from across a river, after that she makes a comment about her possibly reading too much books implying that she is possibly a bookworm/novel fan. Then we cut to their third year. She notices Memi with two second year students (Madoka and Sayaka) and she gets jealous of them (because they were able to befriend with Mami), we also see Charlottes familliars (Pyotr) manifest meaning that Nagisa either about to become a grief-seed or already in the process of hatching. At least a day later (it is said that Mai hadn’t slept well since she saw Mami with her juniors) Mei is on her way home waiting for the traffic lamp to turn green, when she is pushed into the road by Charlottes familliars who are excited because their master will be born soon. She is about to be hit by a truck when she was pulled back by Mami (who even used her magic in order to catch Meis arm), when Mei realises that it was Mami she gets emberassed and can only apologise for worrying her. Later on at her home Mei is blaming herself for almost making Mami witness then she realises that she forgot to thank Mami for saving her, and made up her mind that tomorrow she is going to properly thank Mami. That night Mei dreams of Mami fighting against bad guys as a magical girl. The next day Mami didn’t came to class, so Mei decided to visit her, when she arrived she noticed Madoka and got the feeling that she lost her chance to thank Mami.

Other Observations

We are shown that Mami had given Meis ereaser back to her, and Mei seems to be cherishing that ereaser since.

Judging from the second half of the story it can be concluded that this section of the story takes place during the anime series, even tho she was added to the MAIN STORY later on (only in this special) her presence doesn’t retcon the story, mainly because of the way she was written.

In her dream Mei saw Mami figth against Charlottes familliars as a magical girl (without ever learning about the world of magical girls), we saw somathing similliar with Madoka who in her dream saw Homuras figth with Walpurgisnacht from the previous timeline, so it is possible that something similliar is happening with Mei.

Her habit of hiding from people isn’t exclusive to Mami but other people as well, it could be a result of her shy nature. I looked up reasons why people would hide from others and I found a likely answer that fit her character: Fear of judgment: One of the biggest reasons why people hide themselves is because they're afraid of being judged by others. They may feel like they're not good enough, or that they're different from other people. This fear of judgment can lead people to hide their true selves, even from the people they love. Mental health issues: People with mental health issues, such as anxiety or depression, may also be more likely to hide themselves. They may feel like they're a burden to others, or that they're not worthy of love and acceptance.

In the first four chapters of Different Story which takes place around a year before the MAIN STORY and Mami shown to have been a magical girl for a while now, so it can be concluded that Mei has been admirering Mami since the first year of junior high.

Mei doesn’t seem to have any friends, and judging by the behiavor of her classmates towards her, she migth be seen as the qiet (wierd) gitl.

Judging by her mindset that Mami is out of her reach and by the appearance of her bedroom (or at least what can be seen of it) her family appears to be either middle class or lower-middle class (Mami appears to be either upper-middle class or lower-high class).

In Scene Zero there is a girl (with a generic girl NPC silhouette) that looks similliar to Mei, and there are some things that indicate that they’re either the same or different. PROS: The first time we see her she has a similliar shy personality, and her change in behivaor can be explained with the change of her circumstances. Her family seems to be either poor or facing financial dificulties, and Mei is implied to be either middle or lower-middle class. When Mami is trying to reveal the truth to the girl she accuses Mami of ”seducing” her to become a magical girl, and Mei apart from being an admirer of Mami is most likely has a crush on her. Before the girl made a contract Mami took her on a witch hunt so she can see what is it like to be a magical gir, we could connect this to Mei having a dream about Mami figthing familliars. Meis first and currently only confirmed appearance was in the 10th Year Anniversary Book Series, and Scene Zero was first announced at the 10th Year Anniversary. CONS: Mei and her familys financial situation isn’t confirmed. The girl never shown any signs that she was in any form atracted to Mami, and the term ”seducing” could simply mean that Mami used the right words and actions to convince the girl. Meis dream could only really be used as evidence, if we want to further confirm the claim and not proving it. The two stories have different writers: Meis was written by Ichiko Bukiyama and Scene Zero was written by Vio Shimokura. It doesn’t seem like that Mami and Mabayu actually knew the girl before, Mei literally sits right behind Mami so she should be somewht familliar with Mei and even tho Mabayu isn’t social like Mei she still could recognise her as a classmate, but when Mabayu first saw the girl in her vision she simply refered to her as a MG candidate and didn’t say that the girl is their classmate.

Erika: 'worried' What do you need demons for?

Hitomi: By the way, do you think it is possible to artificially create demons or wraiths?

Hear me out!

So we know from the Madoka-Wraith that wraiths are actually trying to make sure that emotional energy doesn’t cause any catastrophies, and when magical girls fight wraiths they are either rouge or just trying to do their job. Rouge wraiths slways seem to manifest from curses that are emited by humans and try to drain energy in order to bring balance (rouge wraiths are basically extremists). From Wraith-Arc we saw that Homuras (and possibly Gretchens) magic doesn’t belong to the new world so it corrupts the wraiths trying to neutrolise it (it basically drove them rouge), it is possible that curses from the current world could also do that but a much less intense and effective way (we only saw regular wraiths ”manifest” from curses).

We are shown that wraiths manifesting from curses and they’re said to be trying to drain energy from the living, but the latter claim was debunked Wraith-Madoka saying that it is the rouges that do that and that wraiths are actually just filter and neutralise emotional energy, furthermore the way ’she’ explained what wraiths and their purpose are it seem to somewhat go against the fisrt claim that wraiths manifest/born from curses.

My idea about this is that wraiths possibly live in some kind of spiritual plain taking up the same space as ours, and most interactions trough these two plains are impossible, which could explain why rouge wraiths come over to our plain to drain energy and put themself into danger instead of doing safely from their own plane (it seems like that they can only neutralise emotional energy and can’t do anything else).

The wraiths and there different form carry references/inspiration from the budhist idea of enlightenment, that and the fact that they trying to somewhat protect the universe which has its own will (plus in the fandub they’re reffered to as demons), it isn’t that far fetched to think that they could be some sort of angels in the pmmm canon.

[It could also be possible that they have existed even before Madokami, but stayed in their spiritual plain, and only manifesting now because Madokas wish unintentionally made them carry the curses of the universe.]
