I haven't updated tumbeer in many moons. Something something this new job takes all my time. I advise you to get your hands on New Glarus Serendipity (and a fake mustache) asap.

Mother Earth Old Neighborhood Oatmeal Porter
I find this at the back of my fridge, completely alone and forgotten. Its old and has started to turn with a strange tartness, but it's pretty good. Chewy oats and malt, super rich mouthfeel. The Mild roast, milk chocolate, tootsie roll and brown sugar make me want to drink this with a piece of chocolate cake. But I'm fresh out. Mother Earth makes drinkable beer.

BigLobo (BA) hooked it up with some Minnesota goodness. He packed it up with a pair of baby snow pants...real creepy.

'89 Cantillon Brabantaie
So good. Super musty (think opening up a box of clothes in your grandma's attic), stinky cheese, tangy barrel, apple cider vinegar and lemon zest. While this does have some oxidization, it doesn't bother me whatsoever. It feels old when you're drinking it; cool experience.
The sediment at the bottom of the bottle was pretty gnarly, but nowhere near as ridiculous as the cap.

2011 BCBS
When this came out back in January, it was perfect. Easily the best "fresh" vintage of BCBS I've had. It was ready to drink, loaded up with chocolate and barrel complexity. Then they waited ~6 months to release the second wave (draft only) and it's a bit muddled now. I can't complain too much because even as it is, it's pretty goddamn good, but WHY YOU WAIT 6 MONTHS GOOSE ISLAND? Probably A-B's fault. World of Beer kicked a keg in 7 minutes.

Alpine Duet
So fresh and so clean, clean - the hops are chewy, I love it. the mouthfeet is crisp and on the dry end. It's tropical; a nice even grapefruit bitterness blends in with lemon peel and grass. Also pinecones. Though minimal, there is a cracker and caramel malt profile to even the hops out. The hops are king, but this is somewhat balanced. Keep doing what you do, California.

What to drink tonight - Alpine Duet or Founders FMB?
I'm assuming a chat post is my closest equivolent to a poll, so someone should help me pick what I'll be drinking tonight. Half assed review and slightly out of focus pictures to follow.
EDIT - The plot thickens. A box from Minnesota is currently sitting on my doorstep.
EDIT 2 - I don't think a chat post is what I thought it was...

This is what happens when you let Beerwhales have 4 pours of BCBS.

It's still weird. Candied sweetness, berry tartness, savory, leathery.

Pliny bottled 7.02.12, what what! I think I enjoy beer more when I can pair the glassware correctly.
A large thank you to domtronzero on ba!

2012 KTG
Over roasted, minimal chocolate, acrid coffee, a hint of dark fruit goodness (the only saving grace), chalky mouthfeel.
This beer is bad and it should feel bad.

Fuck whales. Now that we've got that out of the way, here's Framboos.
Raspberries, raspberries, raspberries. If this beer does one thing well, it's the use of raspberries. As soon as the cork came out, BLIGGITY BLAM, raspberries to the nose. I kept equating this beers aroma and taste to raspberry jam; it's shockingly similar. I was a little worried the fruit-forwardness might come off tasting like a bandaid (cough cough 3F Hommage), but it doesn't at all. Pure unadulterated fruit.
Other than the overdose of raspberries, Framboos does have some nuance. The level of tartness is nice without being sour, though I admit I'm curious to see if this bitch puckers up as it ages. There is a nice bit of funk to add to the fruit as well as a small citric sourness.
After reading reviews, I feel like people think they can't rate framboos below a 4.5 (thanks to whale status) or they'll be some sort of norm-shattering pariah. I am literally copying and pasting this from a review on BA: "TASTE: Wonderful. Need I say more." YES, YOU NEED TO SAY MORE. COME ON MAN. Framboos is good, not great. But, I would love to hear a dissenting opinion.
