What would Steven and Floret’s Blue diamond, yellow diamond and white diamond versions be and look like?

Here they are! I think they would also have more casual outfits as well but I really wanted to draw them fancier than they usually are.

In this AU White is just a tad more... alien then the others.

if Steven and Floret could only eat one food item forever for the rest of their lives (i think different preparations of said food would be fair game, though), what foods would they both pick?

Floret would like to say something healthy like a salad with berries and vinaigrette, but odds are he would pick mac and cheese or some kind of comforting pasta.

Steven is hands down picking pizza, though. He's got the palette of a teenager and doesn't hide it.

What if Floret ever switched bodies with Steven? Like, he's thinking more about Steven in his dreams and seems to do a "puppetting a person" thing that Prime Steven did to Lars, but because of their nature, it actually goes both ways and Steven finds himself in Floret as well.

Oh interesting. Hmm, most likely they would be surprised to find out just how differently the other is treated.

I'm sure Steven would be a lot more self conscious as Floret because of all the attention/admiration/fear from other gems. I think it would get to him and make him have an anxiety attack at the very least.

Floret on the other hand would probably be really sad about how much genuine closeness and playfulness there is in Steven's family compared to his own. Like at the current time his family is very busy and distant, whereas Vidalia, Onion, Yellowtail, Sour Cream are all very fun and warm and loving with each other. There's no expectations other than being themselves.

There is a sequence later on that plays with Floret's dream abilities, but nothing like a full body switch, so its fun to muse on.

Would Steven die if his gem fragment was ripped out, or could he live normally having lived separated from the rest of his gem?

Yes, he would die. It's a little complicated to explain, but the idea is his body is 95% human and 5% gem. However the 5% gem is responsible for a lot of his body's ability to heal and regenerate in a normal way, kind of like how you age your cells stop diving the same way as when you were young.

He would be very sickly at first but entirely unable to recover if the gem was removed from him permanently.

Some questions, is Bismuth still around? Since there doesn’t seem to be much info of her after she got bubbled and is Rose’s fountain not active? Also would the boys get some therapy later on?

Bismuth is still around! I don't really have much to really do with her though, so she won't appear often. She is still currently working at Little Homeschool as a shop teacher! (You can build your own sword by the end of class!)

Rose's fountain is not active anymore. After reviving the gems, it was accidentally destroyed by Floret, it'll be explained at some point but it's not a major plot thing so I'll share it. (I'm not really sure if I want it to be repaired either because it is kind of a get-out-of-jail free card. Hell, even the show stops using it and has Steven revive gems in his bathtub/heals them in the volleyball episode.)

DT Steven will get therapy first. Floret will take longer to come around.

What would happen if Steven and Floret fuse?

There's several possibilities.

The funniest answer is they just fuse into Canon Steven (not true but hilarious)

The other possibility is they fuse into something entirely new, since they grew up separately into their own separate people.

The real question is, could they ever unfuse?

I was rereading the story and I forgot how hard Steven's life was that he had to steal food on some occasions 😞

Yeah, he has had such a tough life. A lot of his behaviors come from just trying to survive and put up walls to protect himself.

I haven't gotten that far into Drift Together yet, but I have seen some of the art and other questions. I look forward to catching up. Also, I can only imagine the kind of resentment that Floret might feel when the dirty laundry of the how and why finally comes out. I look forward to seeing him spiral.

He will have a lot of traumatic events happen to him and he will grow and learn a lot as time goes on. I like to explore the gross feelings that come with growing up and realizing that the world around you isn't what you always thought it was.

What if Steven and Floret’s lives were swapped? (As in Steven has florets half of his gem and floret has Steven’s gem shard and Steven still lives the same life as in canon and floret is the one to be given to the orphanage and put in foster care and adopted by vidalia.)

Honestly because they're the same person (canon steven split in half) nothing would change their name would just be different. The one with the bigger gem half would always become Floret and the other would always be Steven.

HOWEVER, I did think it would be fun to design something where it would be different and they would still have similar characteristics. Floret wouldn't have his glow anymore and instead would appear as a regular human. Steven, having more of the gem, would have grown up not being malnourished and would have been as tall as canon Steven.

Did Steven and floret being spilt at birth have something to do with Pearl?

Maybe? Or maybe it was something entirely unrelated? Or maybe it was Greg or Garnet or a combination? Maybe Pearl knows more about what's going on, or maybe it's something she's against?

I'm partially joking, but as a memo to everyone asking about what happened/who separated them/anything specifically about the 'why', it's one of the central mysteries of the fic and will be revealed in the story itself when the time is right.

I'm always down to answer other questions about Steven and Floret or even if you want to ask a character specifically I can draw a response for them akin to an ask blog.
