Dandelion aand Cinnamon!

He sipped the strange mix of teas and exhaled as the cinnamon hit the back of his throat. “I have started a garden before. It’s still going for the most part, though I have no particular skill at it. Sasha looks after it usually.” He leaned back against the outside wall of his home and looked up into the clear morning sky. “My favorite smell, hmmm. I’ve always enjoyed the smell of the forest and mountains after a good rain. Everything striving to grow faster with the new energy from the storm.”

Some interesting character tidbits:

1. Tetsu was originally born a fairly normal tetsucabra but through continuous environmental pressure he changed to be a Drilltusk varient, and then through means he staunchly refuses to disclose he gained the ability to assume a more humanoid appearance. He is still, for all physical intents and purposes, a monster.

2. He’s old. Like “old as the hills” kind of old. There are people in Yakumo Village that grew up with him coming in to sell his ores and stones and died without seeing him gain a single wrinkle. No one seems to question it at this point. He’s just Old Stone living out in the woods with his “tame” Arszuros and felyne housekeeper.

3. His best friend for many years has been Blue the Arzuros. He originally saved Blue from a Nargakuga that had thought to knock off some of the competition in it’s section of the Misty Peaks. The fight carried over onto Tetsu’s terf as Blue ran away from the Narg but was quickly brought to a halt by Tetsu landing on the aggressor. Since then Blue follows around Tetsu like a puppy and the old frog wont say it but he’s very fond of the big blue bear. (Blue is the reason Tetsu keeps a few bee hives behind his house.)

4. Tetsu built his house mostly out of whatever he could chop down or dig up in the area since having one let him keep his merchandise safe and to have a place to sell off the ores he dug up and the wood he cut down. Because of this it’s made of some pretty sturdy materials as money wasn’t much of an obstacle for someone doing the building with monster strength.

5. Most of Tetsu’s digging for ores and stones happens at a mine he dug into the side of the closest mountain to his home, around an hours walk from his house. The actual mine shafts have never been mapped but they go for miles underground since when he gets in a mental zone or is angry the first thing Tetsu does is go to the mine to spend that energy, and he usually comes back from the village market a little ticked off at the prices people are trying to buy his merchandise for so the tunnels are ever expanding. (He does all his digging in monster form as it would be a waste to damage good clothes and tools.”

6. The reason he even sells the minerals he digs up is purely for the opportunity to be lazy. The money he gets from the markets is mostly spent on food so he doesn’t have to hunt or small creature comforts to make his life easier. Since he still have the hunger and apatite of a monster even in his humanoid form he eats a LOT.

7. He maintains his mass when he shifts so he tends to stay on the ground floor of buildings and cant swim very well in his humanoid form, he tends to sink or smash right through floors. It also means he has a ridiculous alcohol tolerance and apatite and many an aspiring merchant has passed out trying to drink “Iron Belly” Stone into agreeing to a bad deal.

I’ll try to come up with more character stuff as I think about it.

He smiled at the question. “I’ve been alive so long I’ve accumulated a few interesting odds and ends. Though it’s the mining that adds the most to my collection. Interesting stones, geodes, rare ores that I’d rather not part with. It all ends up in the same place.” He looks down and ponders for a moment. “Come to think about it it’s a pretty big hoard nowadays.”

Tetsu blinked at the unexpected question, and rubbed his craggy chin as he thought. “I dont get sweets very often.” He smiles around his tusks, “But there’s a nice girl in the village who makes these very crunchy rock cookies with walnuts and pecans that I like.” His rocky jaw makes some of his speech muddled and thick but he thinks he gets the point across.
