"Rocky Wrench in a Flintstones-style car" miniboss found in a prototype version of Yoshi's Island, but removed from the finished version.
Note how after being hit twice, the stone wheels fall off the car and the Rocky Wrench runs around while carrying the body of the car for the final phase.

The credits for Hotel Mario include an anti-piracy warning at the end. This is the only instance of definite fine amounts and jail terms being listed in a Mario game, as all other Mario games with similar warnings simply state that doing so is against the law without listing any specific punishments.

In Donkey Kong Country 3, secret honks can be heard while riding the Motor Boat, Hover Craft and Turbo Ski vehicles by holding X and pressing L and R on the same frame.
The honks are, in order, the theme to the 1968 Hawaii Five-O TV series, Gangplank Galleon, and La Cucaracha.

In Mario Kart Wii, part of the melody of the Bowser's Castle track is a more sinister-sounding version of the main melody of the Maple Treeway track.
The audio in this post plays Bowser's Castle until 17 seconds in (sped up to match the tempo of the other track), where it switches to Maple Treeway.
