We also figured out—the hard way—that the ancients probably cut each layer of linen to the proper shape before gluing them together. For our first linothorax, we glued together 15 layers of linen to form a one centimeter-thick slab, and then tried to cut out the required shape. Large shears were defeated; bolt cutters failed. The only way we were ultimately able to cut the laminated linen slab was with an electric saw equipped with a blade for cutting metal. At least this confirmed our suspicion that linen armor would have been extremely tough. We also found out that linen stiffened with rabbit glue strikes dogs as in irresistibly tasty rabbit-flavored chew toy, and that our Labrador retriever should not be left alone with our research project.

"objectively physically attractive but in possession of negative rizz" is one of my favorite character concepts. i think it's so great when there's an absurdly hot person who's just a complete fucking loser. the mood is unsalvageable the moment they open their mouth kind of deal. you get no bitches because you're so sucks.

kim dokja's introduction of yoo sangah is so funny. kim dokja voice this is my beautiful kind show stopping gorgeous intelligent coworker yoo sangah. wherever she walks flowers grow and whenever she looks at you its like a benevolent goddess descending from the heavens to grace you with the holy light of the sun itself. every single person she's ever met has fallen instantly in love with not just her beauty but her kind and motivated nature. except for me of course. i have no particular feelings about her one way or another.

i'm really enjoying how the demon world revolutionary arc builds on the themes found in paradise arc previously. while i would not call the social critique of the paradise arc subtle at all, what with the whole 'seemingly perfect society that subsists off of the arrests, exploitation and deaths of those deemed undesirable by said society' thing, it does present itself more as somewhat of a trolley problem. it allows the questioning of social systems to appear through it's questioning of moral systems. it lends a lot of sympathy to reinhart's perspective on the issue, allowing us to consider both sides of the moral dilemma it shows. while it ultimately calls for a revolution, it does so mournfully, and without overt references to things like, say, the proletariat banding together to seize the means of production. in contrast, the revolutionary arc is extremely on the nose. it uses the same dilemma - the star stream demanding a certain amount of deaths in order to maintain the lives and lifestyle of everyone else - with the same ideas. but it uses it to delve further into ideas of class difference (the demon nobles vs the every man), class traitors (the executioners, who are 'just doing their jobs), and class revolution (which ends in the factory being seized and it's resources being distributed). it's an example of how orv repeats these similar stories over and over again, each time allowing the authors to search deeper into the ideas shown and build upon their work.

the author's barely disguised attempts to get you to eat a healthy meal. the author's barely disguised desire for you to get enough sleep. the author's barely disguised encouragement for you to take better care of yourself. the author's barely disguised hope for you to feel better tomorrow than you do today. the author's barely disguised longing for you to make it through tonight, and the next night, and the night after that. the author's barely disguised love for you, dripping off of every page

npc!shen yuan applies for a job opening on qiong ding for librarian smth like that, and yue qingyuan has barely looked at his resume or spoken to him before hiring him on the spot.
at first shen yuan is excited and proud cus wow he aced that job interview, can it really be this easy??? then he meets shen qingqiu and sees they could easily pass for brothers and have the same surname, so for a little while he's grumbly and annoyed that the sect leader only hired him bc of his resemblance to the scum villain, which honestly hurts a bit you know.
but then, double plot twist, the resemblance had nothing to do with it, yue qingyuan just saw an eager young man who had compiled all of his experience and skills on a single paper (yue qingyuan's overworked heart cried tears of joy), who seemed genuinely passionate about library work and treats the other workers well.
bonus thought: at first shen qingqiu has the same suspicion as well, that yue qingyuan was just hiring a lookalike for some weird reason, but then he meets shen yuan, sees the work that he does and is like "i have to have this man for my peak" and starts trying to poach him.

Wait so is the mandate of heaven and the divine right of kings the same kind of concept, or have I massively misunderstood one or the other?

To the person anonymously writing slowburn office lady yuri in my DMs
I don't know why you've chosen me for this harassment campaign you've embarked on. I don't know why you feel that my DMs are a better medium for this story than, I don't know, posting them on a writing website?? Or on your own blog??? And most importantly, I don't know why you are laboring under the delusion that I can't report you just because you are sending the chapters anonymously -- I can in fact, and you would be IP banned.
I'm issuing you this ultimatum right now:
Stop sending me your slowburn office lady yuri
OR
I will report you
OR
Send me the next chapter within 24 hours, because are a fucker for where you left it off, and you have not sent a new chapter in several days. I need to know whether, when they were the only two in the office late at night after a brutal crunch week, and the stars could be seen in the sky due to a power outage on their block, and they talked about life, they actually do kiss or if that's another fakeout, of which you have done MANY.
My patience with you has worn thin. Stop sending me this story, or send me more, or I will report you.
Good night.
