i've been really inconsistent with gatha's design, so i worked out something to reference. i wanted to lean more into her aquatic mutations, and split her hooves into toes. i'd done it in a few pictures, and now i have to commit. included is a hasty demo on how she tends to attain a glow if she's been sloshing around in water she shouldn't for too long.

... which, oliver theorizes (among many theories), is what made this happen in the first place.

i saw this janky spartan sphinx and kind of loved the awkward wing placement making them look more like arms than the usual shoulder placement so i drew her! i also gave the birds their heads back. yay.

I realized I actually did try to do a turnaround for DK Oliver a whole decade ago but didn't really have the confidence to take it past a rough, so hey!! I actually have a proper progress comparison.

i spent upwards of two weeks working on these, and i'm really happy with them! it was a bit like putting myself in character design boot camp because it forced me to rethink how i do everything from a more "intentional" angle rather than just arbitrary choices.

i may do some future single-layer ones of other characters, but... i need a break.
