One of my favorite films since childhood.
⠀Edward Scissorhands
⠀directed by Tim Burton
⠀ Little 6 years old girl obviously didn’t understand, what is it about, still I found some deep connection to this masterpiece. I was always drawn to this weirdness and darkness that Burton’s works have.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀ The whole movie was very colorful, shiny, “happy” and everyone in there was scared of Edward’s dark house on a hill, that was very different from the rest of the town. But I, as a kid said to my parents that it was my dream house, hahaha. Also I remember running around our flat with scissors, giving haircut to my toys :)⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀ The habit of living in one’s own world and heightened sensitivity to the absurdity of provincial life — this is how a typical Burton’s hero appeared, a lonely freak with a vulnerable soul. Such as Edward Scissorhands, who desperately wants to touch the world, but can’t do it.
⠀ Me and you, person who’s also drawn to those movies, probably can find a part of themselves in all of it. And it feels like you’ve found someone who understands and accepts you with an open arms.
⠀ So yeah, he is the only director I actually dream to work with, as an actress. Not as there are no more directors I admire, of course there are and i will write about them too. But this Grim Storyteller holds a special place in my heart.
