Give me villains who are soft for one person. Just one. And that’s their entire Achilles’ heel.

Give me villains who don’t monologue. Who don’t explain. Who just smile and pull the trigger.

Give me villains who think they’re the hero—and kind of have a point.

not doomed by the narrative but saved by the narrative. yeah i know you'd rather die than keep suffering but the story doesn't actually care what you want. you have to keep going, even when it hurts. even being erased from existence won't stop you from being salvaged from the wreckage of un-being. get up. keep pushing. keep bleeding. keep living.

"I would kill for you. I would die for you" would you take a break for me? Would you sit down and rest? For a day, a week, a year? Would you let others take care of your needs for me? Would you let yourself be held for me? By me?

growing up by the sea really makes you understand why sailors were Like That back in the day. yeah the sea is the love of my life and i'm nothing to her but my heart belongs to her and her alone. she's a cruel, uncaring temptress and she wants to steal me away and eat me alive but to die in her cold, dark abyssal embrace would be such a wonderful way to die.

One of my favourite whump tropes is: "Character is rescued and brought to safety, but they're so used to being treated badly that they just don't understand that they're safe. Surely they haven't been given a home, this is just temporary, they're going to be sent back to the Bad Place or else kicked out to try to live on the streets. Or else the person that rescued them is going to hurt them too. Or everyone is going to figure out that they're not worth the trouble and the help/safety is going to be taken away."

This trope kills me every time but I can't get enough of it

More male characters who are interested in their mother's legacy. As a trope there's a lot of sons and daughters who follow in the father's footsteps and there's yes, girls who honor their mother, ect. But let's have more dudes who are like. Stumbling on their mom's secret fairy cottage or some shit. And they're like aight gotta make the tea
