god aya and i have been friends for like .. how long now ? seven / eight years ? aya knows that she’s one of my best friends, if not my legit best friend. she is so supportive in my endeavors no matter what i do, and while she gives me the reality check i sometimes need, she also acknowledges my feelings without it bordering a near-piteous line. for someone like me, who is actually very sensitive to how certain things are phrased, it’s not an easy line to dance on – but she does it so well that it feels easy and uplifting speaking to aya. i spend so much time checking discord to see if she’s on so i can go talk to her because i love conversing with her and just being with her !! i love aya so much like she’s one of the few people that i’m extremely thankful to have in my life because i don’t know where i’d be without her. i can only hope that aya thinks that i’m just as close of a friend as i think of her !   //   @dualstarred

hands cupped together and hot air exhaled out between lips tinged with a slight blue color, she glared at the girls her age walking down the street. there was much to be jealous of. for one, their coats seemed warmer and overall cleaner. secondly, they had a warm home to go back to at the end of a day out with their friends. 

“ they look stupid with their stupid furry hoods and stupid gloves and stupid money for stupid hot chocolate. ” an attempt to make herself feel better, but winter only grew fiercer. much colder than last year. little trembles along her thin frame, knees glued together in some failed effort to retain what little body heat she had left

he  sees  right  through  her ,  of course, but does her the courtesy of pretending otherwise.  in a way, he understands.  vera can keep her pride ; keith just wants to keep them alive.

she hops back & forth from left foot to right, BOUNCING, energetic, more than ready to bolster keith any way she can. “i think you’ll get LOTS today, kei-kun! the machine’s all heated up like a popcorn machine! it’s gonna shoot out all the faxes like – “ 

              SUDDENLY, a waterfall of colorfully marked papers flood from beneath mako’s skirt, dislodged from her waistband after her jumping. “HUAAAAH!!!” they’re nearly single-sentence love letters, ranging to everything from “kei-kun your smiles make me smile” and “let’s share a whole strawberry cake together in the park, kei-kun!”

keith  eyes  the  fallen  papers  at mako’s feet, a smile  &  a frown playing tug of war on his lips. wordlessly, he scoops up a handful of the papers  &  sifts through them. his chest tightens with every page he reads  &  he half knows why. is afraid of the implications, though.

but the smile wins.

keith  hasn’t  answered  for  some  time.  arms crossed, eyes to the floor – if he looks closed off it’s only because he’s serious in his contemplation, needs his arms as a measure of grounding, the only barrier to keep his chest from splitting open  &  bursting. people will say he has no heart, but it’s the opposite. keith’s never known what to do with a heart this big. his hands fumble when given anything soft  &  allura is the softest thing he’s ever held.

he’s chewing at his bottom lip, he realizes,   &  lets it free with a pop.  bitten red, they curl up at the corners.

❛  wisteria,  ❜        he answers, at last.  slowly, his smile grows  &  he meets allura’s eyes.  shuffles in place.  drops his arms, finally.         ❛  they’re  the  most  beautiful  flowers  i  know.  ❜
