Hello and welcome! This blog is mostly for asking peeps in the Professor Layton fandom some questions, just for fun!Any answer is appreciated and I'm not judgmental, so relax and enjoy yourself! Also the ask box is open if you want to ask me anything! Don't worry, I don't bite!(I also reblog PL stuff haha)
Professor Layton is one of the deepest and best game series I’ve ever come across. The style alone is impressive and every single of the probably 1000+ characters, even nameless background people, were designed with great care and a love that’s hard to find anywhere else. And even the character designer himself admitted some unlucky designs that happened. Each frame. Each minute. Was made with care.
Every game contains around 130 puzzles and there is 600+ downloadable bonus puzzles.
Each story has a unique plot, addressing things like family love, letting go of someone who’s gone, friendship and the question what justice is, just to name a few, while constantly walking the line between comedy, adventure, and mystery.
Starring an unusual main character (especially for the targeted group), it was risky to even try and publish it.
Professor Layton stands for other ideals than every generic hero? Education, respecting everyone, being passionate about things. And the series also heavily stresses the fact that people can change.
The fact that children can actually act like children without being belittled.
And you know what?
It’s a kids game.
It was originally targeted at kids and young women and parents.
Of course now people of all ages and genders play it and that’s really great and a success, but there are things you can and cannot expect from a game meant for kids, and the fact that everyone is able to play it is just one more reason why it’s so awesome.
Professor Layton is a blessing, obviously listening to the fanbase which now exists for 10 years, surviving times where there was no new content for years.
So yeah.
We should be thankful that this series exists and not start aguing about every single flaw we can find or want to find, and maybe stop treating professor layton as some “thing that has potential but if this thing would have been different it would also work just fine, so that means it was horribly executed“, like it happened in other fandoms.
I love the fanbase and it is in no way dead or dying.
Yeah I love Professor Layton and y'all.
