From both reading the comics and watching the show, I'm more inclined to think that Mark is an idiot, not Cecil.

Bringing back Gwen Stacy is so passé. They've done clones, they've done AUs. If Marvel writers really wanted to shake things up, they'd bring back Uncle Ben.

I'm not impressed with Gwenpool 2025 so far. Maybe issue 2 will change my mind, but I doubt it.

You can say the prequel lightsaber choreography is unrealistic if you like, but honestly? It's been a thousand years since any Jedi has seen a Sith Lord. No Jedi has gotten into a lightsaber duel in all that time. So if I suddenly found myself facing a Sith Lord in a lightsaber fight... yeah, I'd probably do some twirls myself. Maybe even some somersaults. Die mad about it, hater.

With all the hubbub about "Samus opening doors with her mind", remember that she canonically has no idea how to open a door normally.

Every time she has been approached with the proposition of "opening a door" she either:

Shoots at it

Shoves her fist into it

Shoves her fist into a fist-shaped hole

Shoves herself into a her-shaped hole

Shoots at it with LITERAL ROCKETS

Shoves herself through the fucking door at Mach 1

Nukes the door with the explosive might of tactical orbital strike

Nukes the door with H E R S E L F because apparently she can just explode at will

Shoots a hole NEXT to the door

Shoots HERSELF through a hole next to the door

And, last but not least, fails to open the door through every previous means and.... has someone else do it.

As far as she's aware, the only way a door is supposed to open is through P H Y S I C A L V I O L E N C E.

So yes, Samus opening doors without always resorting to disproportionate destructive force is in fact a revolutionary concept

People who hate Frodo Baggins are my enemy. "He didn't do anything and was useless"--yeah, okay, so what you're not understanding is that he was the sacrificial lamb. He endured physical, mental, and emotional torment that got worse and worse as his will broke. Everyone knew this. EVERYONE KNEW THIS. That's why everyone was devastated about it. Because Frodo was the most innocent among them, that was the entire point. He represented ordinary peaceful people being destroyed by the horrors of war. And as a hobbit he also represented some of the last vestiges of magic in what was basically a post magic apocalypse.

Frodo was basically an innocent puppy thrown into the Torment Nexus so that EVERYONE ELSE could maybe have a hope of surviving. And he did that willingly. HE DID IT OF HIS OWN FREE WILL, KNOWING IT WOULD RUIN HIM.

If I had to give any minor writing criticism for the Conquest fight, I really think we should have seen more of Cecil trying to figure out how to help Mark. Like the explanation of “anyone we send in would die” only goes so far when everyone will die anyway if Conquest wins.

Show me Cecil trying to get a hold of every superhero, but lines of communication have been fried by the Invincible War. Show me the GDA firing up the teleporter and warning Cecil that they only have enough fuel for x amount of trips. Show me Cecil trying to send someone like Britt or Tech Jacket in, but a split second later the fight has moved to the next city. Show me the GDA debating sending in a nuclear or even quantum bomb or something, but Cecil doesn’t want to risk it hitting Mark. Show me Cecil lamenting “if only the kid still had his fucking earpiece” because not being able to communicate with Mark is severely limiting the ways that Cecil can help him, and he doesn’t want to send anyone or anything in that could possibly surprise and distract Mark more than Conquest.

Viewers of course can extrapolate a lot of this, but we shouldn’t have to. I don’t even expect the show to use all of these ideas but like… at least one? This is a place where the comic writing was weak and should have been improved imo. Instead they even dropped the comic explanation of Cecil not having enough heroes available to have them set up all over the globe.
