Please check out your local library!!
I volunteered at a library this summer where my main tasks were returning books and organizing. Here’s some common books I saw tons of in the library that you can get for free!
Cooking. So much cooking. All kinds of foods, dietary limitations, and cultural specific.
Crafts (sewing, crocheting, knitting, painting, decorating, pottery, drawing, and cross stitching are what I can remember just off the top of my head. So many)
ESL/learning English
Foreign language learning
Financial advice
So many “___ for idiots”
Destinations / countries
Mental health / disorders (and recovery)
Music (including sheet music)
Classics (the ones you see read in high school)
Test prep (including SAT, ACT, PSAT, ect)
Gardening / how to grow stuff
Pet care
Child care
Illness information / coping
Disability information / coping
Both specific and general historical topics (From just the history of America in general, the history of a certain group of people, to history of certain events, ect.)
Most hobbies.
Religion
How-to’s and guides
Audio books and movies are usually available in the hundreds. Popular books and movies are accessible.
It’s usually disability friendly and most are also offering free games and devices to borrow.
Most also have computers where if you are looking for a certain book, it will tell you where it is in the library or which nearby libraries do have that book.
Fiction books are also abundant and usually the genre is labeled on the spine.
Even if you don’t want to take a book out, you can sit there all day and just read a book. It’s a good, quiet place for those stuck in a chaotic situation. It usually has AC/heat, bathrooms, and water fountains too. As long as you’re not a snorer, no one really cares if you even take a nap.
Overall, I cannot recommend libraries enough. People really think why go when you have the internet, but it really has everything and an immediate option so you don’t have to search. And, once again, free!
Libraries, especially in more conservative areas, are getting less and less funding and more and more restriction on books with content regarding LGBTQ+, black history/authors, and safe sex. Donate to your local library. Visit. Check out what is there. There literally is no negative!!

ok im cheating a lil w the picture bc it's from much earlier in the summer. it's notes on Peskin and Schroeder Intro to QFT, chapter 5. i was first introduced to mandelstam variables in my particle physics class but they just seemed arbitrary. they were still kinda dumb when i was writing these notes. but now, they're highkey useful. (do not ask me what a u-channel exchange is i simply do not know)
[9/8/24] fairly productive as far as days go. i did not break physics today! the problem i was moaning about two days ago occurred because i violated another physics tenet. [STAY IN THE PERTURBATIVE REGIME]
everything was fairly alright after i cranked the mass scale up!
my prof told me to check my numerical coefficients again but he seemed okay with the results we got. now i have to learn abt the weak interaction and add that to my model. it better make more sense this time around!

August 9th, 2024 09/30
Salut a tous!
Today I learnt about french comparatives (plus que, moins que, aussi que...) on Busuu and practiced some conversational french and called it a day because I decided to pick up a second language that I've been leaving aside for a year now and I want to hopefully remain consistent with it.
Either way if I were to drop one I'd drop the new one obviously, so I doubt I'll change my french study routine any... I'd like to make a better structure to know what to do each day, though.

New habits I want to develope
Wake up before 8 A.M.
Only consume content that leaves some kind of benefit or positive/neutral impression on me
Be focused on what I'm doing in the present moment by developing better meditation and grounding practices
Move my body daily for at least an hour
Go outside and spending time in the sun and fresh air when the weather is nice
Become more disciplined by resisting the urge to indulge in distractions to train my self-control and discipline
Do tasks as soon as I can instead of procrastinating. Fight the executive dysfunction through positive frameworks (not shame)
Drink water before my coffee, and simply stay more hydrated
Learn to display my gratitude to/towards others
Go to sleep before 3 A.M.
Do everything with intention instead of staying in autopilot
Enjoy my time off and rest while I still have it
Discover and nurture my excitement for study through curiosity

15 Productivity Hacks 💻💭📝💡
Use the Pomodoro Method. Work in focused intervals (typically 25 minutes) followed by a short break. This helps you maintain high levels of focus and gives regular breaks to rest.
If a something takes less than two minutes, do it immediately.
Schedule specific blocks of time for specific activities. This helps in dedicating focus to one task at a time.
Group similar tasks together and tackle them in one go. For example, respond to all emails at once rather than sporadically throughout the day.
Contrary to popular belief, multitasking can reduce productivity. Focus on one task at a time for better efficiency.
Use apps and tools like Trello, Asana, or Notion to manage tasks and projects.
Use the Eisenhower Box or the ABCD method to categorize tasks based on their urgency and importance.
Keep your workspace tidy. A clean workspace can enhance focus and reduce distractions.
Even if one doesn’t exist, setting a deadline can create a sense of urgency.
Large tasks can be overwhelming. Break them into smaller steps to make them more manageable.
Aim for excellence, not perfection. Sometimes waiting for something to be perfect can lead to procrastination.
If someone else can do a task, delegate it. This allows you to focus on tasks that only you can do.
Working for long hours without a break can lead to burnout. Short, regular breaks can help maintain high levels of focus.
Use apps to play background music/noise that enhances concentration or block all notifications to prevent you from checking your phone.
At the end of the week, review what you’ve accomplished and what needs to be adjusted for the coming days.
