I can’t help but wonder if what happened at the end of episode 5 triggered Simon’s trauma with his dad.
It seemed like they were trying to tone down Micke this season - make him a disappointing alcoholic rather than the abusive drug addict they implied he was in season 1 - but the fact of the matter was Micke didn’t blink an eye at slamming his son against walls and grabbing his face violently. Suggesting that Micke had been violent with Simon before.
Then we have Wille who bottles everything up until he bursts into a violent rage. He bottles up his pain at his parents until he is yelling at them and smashing presents in front of his shell shocked boyfriend. He escalated to the point he threatened someone with a gun. Frankly it makes me wonder if the nightclub fight that started everything was the result of Wille bottling his stress until someone harassing him at a club made him explode.
In some ways both Simon and Sara have partnered up with people like their father.
Sara has found herself with an addict.
Simon has found himself with someone who explodes violently.
I hope it gets resolved it just makes me sad

i'm feeling controversial today so here's another hot take. and before you type away at your keyboards, know that this is all coming from a south asian.
white leftists have got to stop acting like christianity is the only religion that deserves to be criticized and you cannot touch any other religion because that'd be racist and bigoted. because as an indian who's watching my country progress towards hindu nationalism, this attitude doesn't help at all.
white people see hinduism as this exotic brown religion that's so much more progressive but don't know the violence of the caste system, how it others a large portion of the population on the basis of caste, literally branding them as "untouchables". they teach us in school that this problem is a thing of the past but the caste system is still alive and shows itself in violent ways. and that's not even covering how non hindus are treated in the country. muslims especially are being killed, have their houses bulldozed, businesses destroyed, and are being denied housing, our fucking prime minister called them infiltrators and there's this fear among hindu extremists that they'll outnumber the hindus in the country. portraying hinduism as this exotic religion does a disservice to all those oppressed by the hindutva ideology
similarly, white people see buddhism as this hippie religion that's all about peace but have no idea how extremist buddhists in myanmar have been persecuting the rohingya muslims for years and drive them out of the country.
if anything portraying these religions as exotic hippie brown religions is a type of orientalism itself.
and also y'all have got to realize that just because christianity has institutional power in america doesn't mean there aren't parts of the world where they are persecuted on the basis of religion. yes karen from florida who cries christophobia because she sees rainbow sprinkles on a cake is stupid but christian oppression DOES exist in non western countries where they're a minority. pakistani christians get lynched almost on a daily basis over blasphemy accusations. just look up the case of asia bibi, a pakistani christian woman who was sentenced to death on blasphemy charges because of something she said when she was being denied water because it was "forbidden" for a christian and a muslim to drink from the same utensil and she'd made it unclean just by touching it (which is ALSO rooted in casteism and part of pakistani christians' oppression also comes from the fact that a lot of them are dalit but that's a whole other discussion). and that's just one christian group, this isn't even going into what copts, assyrians, armenians etc have faced and continue to face. saying that christians everywhere are privileged because of american christianity actually harms christian minorites in non western countries.
and one last thing because this post is getting too long: someone being anti america doesn't automatically mean they're the good guys. too many times i've been seeing westerners on twitter dot com praise the fucking taliban just because they hate america. yes, the same taliban who banned education for women, thinks women should be imprisomed at home, and consistently oppresses religious and ethnic minorities in afghanistan. yes, america's war on afghanistan was bad and they SHOULD be called out for their war crimes there. no, the taliban are still not the good guys. BOTH of them are bad. you cannot pretend to care about muslims and brown people if you praise the taliban. because guess what? most of their victims are BROWN MUSLIM WOMEN. but of course white libs who praise them don't rub their two braincells together to make that conclusion.
this post has gotten too long and i've just been rambling so the point of this post is: white "leftists" whose politics are primarily america centric should stop acting like criticism of ideologies like hindutva, buddhist extremism, and islamic extremism BY people affected by these ideologies is the same as racism or religious intolerance because that helps literally no one except the extremist bigots. also america is not the centre of the world, just because something isn't happening in america doesn't mean it isn't happening elsewhere

As someone who has learned a lot about middle and high school sports through working with a demographic very into that kind of stuff, I do find it Interesting that people claim that a trans girl wanting to play sports is just a boy lying about being trans to have an advantage, when in actuality, if a boy (or, more realistically, his parents and coaches) wanted to gain an advantage over his competitors, he would just get held back a grade or two so he's older and stronger than his opponents. Which is something that actually happens all the time.

like I'm sorry but I will keep posting about this until people stop being cunts and shitheads so I think we'll be here a good while. every time I talk about the colonial framing of australia and how colonialism is at work in modern day understandings of this country I only need to count to ten before every european and usamerican in sight starts spouting complete bullshit. why don't you all take a deep breath and examine why the fuck you're so wedded to the idea of australia you have in your head

i was so ready to accept that there was just an evil boy band. these magical girls have a singing gimmick so the villains have to as well, don't think too hard about it just enjoy the show.
but no.
this was a targeted decision. they decided to form a boy band just to fuck with huntrix directly. they did this on PURPOSE. and in order to do this, jinu had to:
study modern pop music
write and choreograph his own routine
calibrate it specifically to go viral on tiktok (whistle and shoulder thing both easily replicated by your average fan, brilliant move)
find four 'conventionally hot' demons
TEACH THEM TO DANCE in PERFECT SYNC with the expert precision of chart topping bands
they had rehearsals
in the demon realm
for what, months? years??
was there a chalkboard that said "Always Be Posing" ??

The funniest thing about reading fandom stuff on the Saja Boys, as someone with a background in the performing arts, is the sheer number of people commenting on how Jinu must have worked his butt off to find four random demons and teach them to be Kpop stars while also running everything behind the scenes for all the technical stuff.
And like, yes, that's a super funny headcanon, I've absolutely been giggling at them.
But also, with my personal experience with the performing arts... absolutely no way Jinu was the only performer Gwi-Ma got onto his side. Like, the I've met people in way better circumstances than Jinu who would absolutely sell their soul to make it big. And the fact that all five of these guys look extremely similar to Jinu even in their demonic forms indicates, to me at least, that there's a good chance that they were all former human musicians themselves.
Therefore, with all this in mind, I will put forth the humble suggestion:
Jinu didn't round up a random group of demons behind Gwi-Ma's back and train them from the ground up.
Jinu held freaking auditions behind Gwi-Ma's bacl and brutally narrowed it down American Idol style to the best of the best in order to assemble a crack team for his plan, and the other four members were the ones who made the cut.
"But Trickster, he was the only one who would get anything from Gwi-Ma for doing this, what would the other four be doing this for?"
For the chance to be performing in front of tens of thousands of adoring fans and be worshiped as an idol, naturally. I mean, have you seen the things real-world people will go through to get a chance at that? And these guys have already sold their souls for a chance at this, why not team up with the best performer in the demon realm for another chance at it?
Also, I think Baby was in charge of their TikTok account. He's just got that vibe to him, you know?

it's weird to me when people are so adamant "oh glinda has to face consequences for her actions glinda has to be punished for her actions" not because they're wrong, but because what i find most compelling about glinda's character isn't the tragedy of "i was selfish and i lost everyone i loved" it's how she continually does learn from her mistakes and makes effort to be a better person
the ozdust is her first "oh shit" moment where she comes to term with the cruelty elphaba's faced her whole life and how galinda contributed to that. ariana said of the scene that being looked at and laughed at like that was galinda's worst fear, but in that moment it switches to doing something to put someone in that situation again. her joining the dance isn't just an attempt to fix it, but an acknowledgement of the harm she's done
this same arc plays out in act ii, albeit on a much wider scale. "thank goodness" establishes that glinda, despite claiming otherwise, isn't happy as glinda the good and really isn't proud of the role she's stepped into or the person she's become. and then nessa, fiyero, and the witch-hunting mob all happen in quick succession, and she gets a very rude awakening to just how much violence the wizard's regime (herself included) is capable of enacting
so she rides to kiamo ko ready to give up "glinda the good" to save elphaba, but elphaba insists that it's too late for her and passes her cause on to glinda. its also important to note that this is glinda putting the greater good (helping the Animals) over her personal needs/wants (wanting to save/be with elphaba). and as much as glinda is shoved back into a role she hates, i think she's also left with a clear sense of who she is and the power she does have and how she can do good
as much as glinda has regrets and sorrows and mistakes, she also consistently demonstrates an ability to learn from her mistakes and works to remedy them and ends the musical in a position where she really is glinda the good, even if she hadn't always been that. she's the one who removes the wizard and morrible and ultimately works to turn oz into the place elphie believed it could be. and i personally find this more compelling than her just being a cautionary tale about how selfishness and working for authoritarian dictators are bad

idk what the feeling is but watching Trump say "Shylocks" Grok declare itself "MechaHitler" and someone hack Elmo's twitter account to make the muppet say "kill all the Jews" all this month.
and the Goyish reaction seems to be "lol okay thats weird" and like laugh it off, act like its a weird one off, a strange aberrations, and then move on at once.
It's like what? do we need to do? to get people who aren't Jewish to see this shit as real and serious? particularly with Trump people were like "oh look Trump's using old timey slurs that no one's heard since the 1930s!" and its like no bitch I've been called that shit to my face.
people totally ignored that someone made one of the most beloved children's TV characters say "kill all the Jews" and the Grok thing....
the Grok thing is the worst because like Grok is not a person, an AI is not a person. It's an amalgamation of everything you find on-line. it should be alarm bells for all of us that if you take the safety off an AI it automatically goes full Nazi because there's SO! much of that on-line, the internet defaults to Nazism...
and yet no one cares, no one will take antisemitism seriously ever.

Hello, tumblrstorian who paints jane austen as an all-encompasing representation of life during the georgian period in britain and ireland. before you is an irish catholic from 1790 who has lived in a one room cabin on the inishowen peninsula off a diet of nothing but boiled potatoes since childhood when their family fled being burnt out of their home in armagh by armed gangs of colonisers who wanted their land. I would like for you to explain to them, in detail, the argument you make in your post where you claim that quote "the people in sense and sensibility were actually really really poor for the time period since they could only host guests without servants and only had a cook and a groom working for them; this actually was the worst living conditions they could have at the time." if your argument is not convincing enough, you will get to experience the georgian period firsthand via spending the rest of your life repeatedly getting typhus in newgate gaol while aodhagán here gets your house. choose wisely, tumblrstorian...
