This might be controversial but I think half the reason Logan asked Rory to marry him is because he knew he his parents didnt like her and didnt want them to get married. Thats why it was all or nothing, Logan had graduated he was entering and had already entered his fathers world and what his dad wanted for him. He just needed something permanent to piss his family off even more.

randomly remembering the time in 2012 when everyone kept saying the world was going to end at midday that day and like, i didnt really believe it, but i didnt want to be a complete fool if i was wrong, so i excused myself from class to go sit the field and perfectly timed the beat drop to a skrillex song just in case something happened. and im just. retroactively amused by the idea of ushering in the appocalypse with skrillex. most 2012 thing you could possibly do.

I read this as 'I love your natural essay style' and for a second I though 'wow what I compliment. I love that'. God I wish I had a natural essay style. I have the essay style of a feral raccoon trying to find scraps of food for my babies but all my scraps are unmeaty google scholar citations that they're forced to eat because they were the only ones available

Do you know I really think the whole 'gilmore girls rewatching is just pure comfort food' take isn't quite ... it...

I think the whole 'it's just rewatched because it has a pretty town with fairy lights everywhere' thing reduces what I think brings a lot of people back to watching the show. To me, it's because you can see new things, new perspectives with every watch- and sometimes it's even to do with how your own experiences and what you've just learned in your own life and the values you take from it all can be explored alongside it like a really great book. It's not just entertaining but I genuinely feel like it says a lot about life, especially from the perspective of realistic women. Women who are ambitious, women who make mistakes, women who love their friends and didn't get the life they wanted but love it so much anyway. I don't want to be too pretentious on tumblr dot com but I just have so much love for this show.

Absolutely one of the best complicated female characters. The parentification, the movement within different class structures, the abandonment issues and the perfectionism for how she feels she has to make up for existing. The idealising her life with Lorelai in Stars Hollow and their relationship whilst also having a deep longing for stability that she never quite got despite Lorelai’s best efforts. How she moves past the ‘idealisation’ stage with Christopher. Rory’s character says so much about what humans need and crave in family systems and how self identity is formed in those years. The show is so so brilliantly written.

What I would do to have a series of Jess and Rory in New York, and for them to both have some big Realisations about their upbringings. The messiness of it all, to feel the darker feelings of lack, then the forgiveness and acceptance.

But seriously, the deeper you dig, she's SUCH an interesting and complicated character and there's SO MUCH going on with her, I am just bewildered that so many people just choose to be boring and lazy and go "If she did a Bad Thing it's because she's Selfish and Bad, end of story." And then they just stop there. 🙄 Yeah, ok.

I’m literati as hell, but as someone who has dated guys like Jess in real life, the abandonment trauma, lack of communication, moodiness, authority issues, past hurt… you cannot love them better. Seriously, they need to work on themselves and go to therapy. It’s so incredibly painful and traumatic and abusive on the other side too. So, I never blame Rory for not taking Jess back when he comes back. It’s so much more complicated in real life. Which is why I’m constantly in my heart, gushing about his development and growth. It takes a lot of self reflection to become that
